its so funny to see how this franchise was always so stable, so calm, well controlled and then the starting QB goes down and the whole organization is gone and the quiet owner now has a big mouth that he can't seem to contain/control, this franchise went from looking like a Green Bay/NE/Pittsburgh type of franchise to the Dallas Cowboys/Oakland Raiders just like that.

Just shows you important a QB is...

I can't believe no one has mentioned Dallas in connection with PM.

Talk about a team with talent who really could be that one elite QB piece away from contending or winning a SB.

So some doctor cleared him? Did the people in the NFL actually clear him? I have to say Manning is one of the most media savy athletes ever... and I think this is his way of forcing the owners hand. Also couldn't they wait a week til the Super Bowl is over with? Talk about raining on your lil' brothers parade.

He's not going there.

definitely have thought about it, but there are other non dysfunctional teams out there that are a QB away who could use him more than Dallas, but definitely an option which we should keep open.

The question that follows that would be...'would we get Romo?'
Didn't you guys see this coming? There are obviously too many fans slobbing on the knob. It had "Rob Lowe" written all over it. I want no part of the Manning show. Yeah, he's a hall of famer but, so was Bruce Smith, Deion Sanders, and Jason Taylor. Skins need to draft their own franchise players and continue to improve the core of the team. As lustrious as Peyton's career is, he's only won the big game once. If Dungy wasn't a part of that, Peyton would still be chasing the hardware. The Skins will not be any more competitive for a championship with Manning on board. And yes, the team won't have to sacrifice draft picks to aquire Manning but, think of how much salary cap he will eat up prohibiting more talent to be signed or re-signed. And the team would have to deal with this for the next few years because you know Manning's contract will be front loaded...
You sure about that? What if there's several teams out there that want his services? ...which I'm sure there will be.

Well if he's a free agent, it will take money (and maybe something else) but not draft picks

Peyton is my favorite non redskin player ever but i don't want him on the Redskins. I think it's only natural that having Peyton will completely take away the teams aggressiveness to getting a long term answer at QB. I can't see them doing any kind of trade up for a top rated rookie with Manning on the roster. they will draft some mid round QB and it will be another one of our long line of quick fix QB plans...

Hypothetically, what if you could sign Peyton and hold onto your #6 overall pick and take Tannehill there. Or even trade down some and take Tannehill (or whatever QB you prefer) and add more picks.

In other words, what's worth more Luck/Bradford/RG3 starting now and a significant loss of draft picks or Tannehill (or whoever) starting in 2 years with all your draft picks and maybe more?

If it were Manning/Tannehill I would probably be okay. but I don't believe they would take Tannehill at #6 if manning is on the roster and if they don't do that then getting him becomes very difficult.

Whats worth more IMO is Luck/Bradford/RG3 and less picks because those 3 QB's have the highest percentage chance of becoming franchise QB's then anyone else available. This is a QB league now...the teams with the best QB's win consistently and everyone else is hovering in that 6 to 10 win range and hoping for some good luck to have a decent season. And I do not want to risk the entire Shanny/Allen era on turning some mid round QB prospect into that franchise QB because that just doesn't happen very often. A smart approach to free agency can replace the high draft picks we have to sacrifice to get our QB...but what free agency can't do is get us a young franchise QB.

The more important question here is, if no one is around, does it make a sound?

I would take the Manning/Tannehill + draft picks all day, every day over trading bunches of picks for Luck/RGIII.

Reason is, if Tannehill flops, you still have a solid team from the draft picks you get and can bring in another QB. IF RGIII or Luck flops, you are left with a void from the talent you could have had if you didn't trade the farm for them.

Re: Peyton manning cleared to play

Rebutting an ESPN report from Thursday evening, owner Jim Irsay tweeted early Friday that the Colts have not medically cleared Peyton Manning (neck surgeries) to play football in 2012.
It's clearer now than ever that Manning's camp fed ESPN's Chris Mortensen the news of his supposed medical clearance. "Peyton has not passed our physical," says Irsay, "nor has he been cleared to play for the Colts. Team statement coming on Friday." Colts doctors are reportedly worried about the nerves in Manning's neck and triceps. While Peyton is notifying interested teams he's healthy, the Colts still need the medical excuse to decline his $28M bonus.

Colts counter-punch to team Manning

Yes, Yes, and a big fat yes. I would love to have a healthy PM lead this team for 2-3 years while you have a top prospect learning on the bench over trading away two or three top draft spots in the next couple of years drafts.

To above poster, no I DO NOT WANT ROMO if the Cowboys took PM. If he can't succeed there I doubt he would be able to here.
