Cam is a stud and barring injury hard to imagine him regressing, but even if he takes a step back he's still a top QB and arguably the most exciting to watch.

Griffin doesn't have the body to rumble w/ the ball as Cam does. Realistically Griffin has to be a pass first QB who can burn the defense w/ his legs.
RG3 can outrun the entire defense from end zone to end zone. I'd assume that he's capable of doing this even against the top NFL defenses. Guys like Michael Vick and Vince Young will have the ball snapped to them and then they'll take off running. Rg3 looks for receivers to get open and if none of them do then he'll take off running. The thing is, even if defenses use a LB to spy Griffin, I'm sure he'd be athletic enough to get by them.

Totally agreed. As much as RGIII is a past first QB, he has elite scrambling ability, and I can't wait to see the first designed bootleg run for a TD.
Lucky for us that's what he is.
I think so too. Watching his games from Baylor I find myself thinking about how calm, cool and collected Griffin looks in the pocket. If he can carry that into pro along w/ his physical abilities, talents and work ethic we have ourselves the real deal.
No way in hell. I would take RGIII any day of the week and twice on Sundays over Cam Newton. They aren't even close to being the same level when it comes to the secondary aspects (intellect, poise, accuracy)
lol what? You really don't like Cam and I should just let it go, because we should be celebrating Robert Griffin but c'mon man you make it hard to move on from your outlandish statements.

Cam isn't on the same level as Griffin when it comes to intellect, poise and accuracy?
You know there was no offseason last year right?
And poise, Cam played an enitre college football season under the most intense scrunity I can remember and some of that same scrunity and skeptisim carried over into the pros and he performed at a high level.
If that doesn't illistrate the kids poise then maybe your just blind or a hater.

Accuracy? How many Panthers game did you watch last year?
I hate to mention this but do you recall that game?
He displayed top level accuracy that games especially intermediate to deep.

And how about arm strength, running ability, size?
yeah....so let's calm down on this Cam Newton talk until a further time.
Pot meet kettle.
Robert Griffin is our QB and has a great skillset but can we slow down with the he's better then Cam Newton bit?

As much as I love Griffin, I hope most fans are more realistic then you are.
I hope most fans realize that expecting Griff to have Cam Newton level of production would be a great outcome but its kinda an unrealistic expectation.
I'll wait til I see a season of RG3 in the NFL before comparing him to last year's ROY.
Number-wise and record-wise, RGIII should have a better rookie year. Newton really only had Steve Smith to throw to. Griff has a ton of quality WRs and two great TEs. Similar skill levels, but RGIII will have more help surrounding him, plus better coaches. Newton is not a very accurate passer either, he threw almost as many INTs as TDs (21/17). Newton will always have more running stats, 706 yards and 14 TDs may due to his lack of WRs though.

Playaction roll-out. Respect that.

Re: Griffin's Impact on our Offense

Two games stood out in Rg3's last year at Baylor. The game against Oklahoma in which he threw for 479 yards and the game against Washington Huskies to close out his collegiate career. Baylor racked up a mentally ill 500 plus yards rushing in that game.

With Griffin, Helu, and Royster, imagine if the Redskins were capable of rushing for 300 yards a game and taking pressure off of Griffin's passing game by racking up crazy numbers on the ground. Mike Shanahan has always like to run the ball so don't be surprised if the Redskins call plays for RG3 to incorporate into the Redskins running game. That my friends, will only open up the pass once that safety creeps up to the line of scrimmage.

newton had 60% completion for the season, which is above the league avg. the ints probably were bad reads, being a rookie. he, for the most part, is an accurate QB

Cam Newton, QB for the Carolina Panthers at NFL.com

Cam Newton actually completed 60% of his passes as a rookie. I first I thought that he had completed a higher percentage than that. Newton also threw for 21 TDs and 17 INTs and threw for 4,000 yards. His passer rating after 16 games played was 84.0. That's very impressive numbers for a rookie QB.

Therefore I agree with you that there is a good chance that the Burgundy and Gold will have a better record this year then the Panthers had last year. (6-10)

But the Panthers receiving corps (including the TEs) was pretty good.
They played better then they looked on paper namely Brandon LaFell proved to be a pretty dang good number 2.

At this point I would say our WRs corps are even.
We added some quality talent and our 3,4 and 5 WRs are probably better then theirs.

No when it comes to the offensive line its not even close their OL is far better then ours.
And rookie QBs are usually more dependent upon pass protection then veteran QBs.

Coaching staff is a toss up.
I would say that Rob Chudzinski is at least as good an OC as Kyle Shanahan.

You're gonna hold a 21/17 TD/INT ratio against a rookie QB?
You realize that ratio is good for a rookie right?
(You should look up Peyton Mannings)

You concede Newton's rushing yards and rushing TDs as if the don't represent a huge benefit in sustaining driving and scoring points.
You realize that Newton's 14 rushing TDs helped him reach a total of 35 TDs which were more then we scored as a team?

I agree. Cam's a straight up baller. I had egg on my face on that one cause I thought he was going to be a bust.

Re: Griffin's Impact on our Offense

The Panthers offensive line is NOT far better than ours. Jeff Otah their RT can't stay healthy (sound familiar?) Jordan Gross is on the downside of his career but still a good tackle, Ryan Khalil top notch center but their guards are average at best. This is an example of a QB making an average O-Line better than it is. Ben Roethlisberger been doing it since he got into the league, Eli Manning did it this year. Our offensive line is NOT the crap fest you and a lot of others make it out to be.

I've said Cam Newton was going to be a bust. I also said that we won't know until about after 3 years. I've said he had a great season. I've also said he still runs entirely too much. I've also said some of those stats are over inflated because his team played from behind much of the time. Nothing outlandish at all. Get back to me in 2 more years.
Cam isn't on the same level as Griffin when it comes
to intellect, poise and accuracy?
Not even remotely close. I don't even need to cover the intelligence part, and poise isn't talking about how he can handle the media and scrutiny. I'm referring to "poise in the pocket". Cam is much more likely to take off running than RGIII is. Yes, I live in NC and I'm forced to watch Panther games.
Pot meet kettle.

He is as a prospect. If Cam Newtown came out this year, he would be the #3 QB chosen in this draft (if not #4). As a prospect, RGIII is way ahead of Cam at his same point in time prior to the draft. I'm not saying he's going to put up better numbers his first year.

More realistic than me? I don't recall putting any stats behind RGIII, and I laugh at the people talking about 4k yards plus 27 TDs. I think you are barking up the wrong tree.

That's a fun article, and it reminded of Elway's mobility. Sounds like Kyle is spending way more time w/ Griffin than Mike. I hope this works!!
