Well he's had plenty of off the field incidents as well to support the awful person theory.
Wait ... so stealing from stupid people is okay? The justification "Everybody else is profiting by deceit/fraud/bad faith, it would be stupid for me not do it as well" is a morally valid argument to you??
I dunno Chico, you seem like a nice guy, but it is clear you and I have a very different concept of right and wrong.
Your shifting the arguement and i didnt say stealing was ok. Im saying blame lies with stupid in the context of this business. The red flags were waving and the history of negligence with Vinny/Danny...? I dont see right on any side of this issue.

A moron or morons signed another moron to a stupid contract, stupidity ensued.

You mean you're not supposed to feel up random waitresses? Dang, that's what I've been doing wrong.

His draft stock dropped because of character issues.
He was known for letting loose on teammates. (i.e. he kicked his teammate in the chest)
He stomped on a dude's head.
Haynesworth caused a dude to be partially paralyzed cuz he was driving over 100mph (okay, this one can be let go, because we have/had murderers play in the NFL)
He felt up some lady (post-Redskins era)
He punched some dude, out of road rage. (post-Redskins era)

But the thing is that the awful person mentality had been there. This dude was screaming red flags.

A thief is a thief. It doesn't matter if someone left a door open, stealing is the crime of the one who stole it...and only his.

Dan Snyder and Vinny Cerrato may have overpaid players horribly, but they still gave them the contracts with the expectation that the player would give full effort to deserve and earn the money. Signing an old Deion Sanders or Bruce Smith like they were in their prime, or paying a bum like Adam Archuleta top money is still not "asking for it". The players are still expected to at least try. Haynesworth apparently came in with no intention of giving ANY effort at all and with a goal of being paid and forcing the team to release him so he can do it to another team.

That's break of contract, fraud and flat out stealing.

If you can't condemn Haynesworth, I'm shocked. Well, maybe not, look at the welfare state we live in these days. Stealing from the rich is actually endorsed now.
I agree 100% with you Monkeydad. This is all on Albert Haynesworth. One can blame the Redskins organization all day long, but the bottom line for them was signing a football player who showed signs of greatness in terms of football talent - and AH had that. But to echo Smootsmack, he was too lazy to use it. Haynesworth could have been a beast for this defense if he had put in the effort. Imagine AH playing at the top of his game, while being flanked with Ryan Kerrigan and Brian Orakpo. That would have been pretty deadly! And I also agree that it didn't matter where Albert went, he would have done the same thing else where.

And the sad thing is, the franchise tried it's best to clear off the monetary mistake of one Albert Haynesworth from the books, and it wound up costing us $36 million more dollars. He really screwed the 'skins over big time!
AH and the Redskins are both to blame. The Redskins were stupid to outbid everyone for a guy with serious questionable character. AH is a POS for basically taking the money and doing nothing when he got here. Yeah someone else would've signed him...Tampa and the Giants were in the running, but there was no way Snyder was going to get outbid. If you play with a snake long enough you will get bitten...and Snyder got bit for 33 million. Lessons learned.
The Haynesworth we outbid everyone for was the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, a 2-time Pro-Bowler and 2 time All Pro. He also scored bonus points for stomping a Dallas Cowboy. :D

Questionable character, yes, that is not debatable. He has always been a scumbag. You can't blame the Redskins for what he gave us ON the field though. We paid for the most dominant defensive lineman in the league at the time and he never showed up.

Cooley was great. Best 3rd round draft pick we have had. Damn Haynesworth for being a sorry waste of space. Damn Vinny for getting burnt on all these over the hill stars that did nothing while they were here

Hopefully Jordan Reed will change that, and it looks like he is on the correct path.

2 of the most upstanding All-Skins greats if you ask me. Hard working and clean players in my eyes.
Are you saying they were low-lifes like Haynesworth or something?

I'm saying they were better 3rd round picks than Cooley

He will have to get busy though. In his eight seasons with the Redskins, Cooley recorded 428 receptions for 4,703 yards and 33 touchdowns, becoming the highest scoring TE the Redskins have had. But Jordan Reed has some moves. He could very well become the next highest scoring TE the Skins have had if he keeps it up.

I meant before we signed him. There were certainly concerns but most of the worst stuff hadn't happened yet. Point is at the time most fans were excited.
