I guess a mans word is not worth anythings these days!
Correct, get it in writing. Sean Taylor was a victim of circumstance and the media's willingness to vilify anyone connected to the Redskins. I love that ST is a bad boy, He's worth every penny. |
Re: Sean Taylor wants to redo his deal already...
I guess a mans word is not worth anythings these days! This guys been in trouble and wants more money? How about showing up playing like a star and get in to a few Pro Bowls before this shit starts up!!!!! :headbange This is why I didn't want this guy a trouble maker that will get DUI's or kicking his girlfriends ass or something else! Let me know when the first player comes forward and wants to give money back because Dan S gave him to much or he wasn't worth what he is being payed! I can see it's not about the ring anymore....at ALL
Ok, a young (21 years old) guy got in a little trouble....that NEVER happens! Plus, wasn't he later CLEARED OF ALL CHARGES...oh yeah, he was. Why is he so horrible? This ain't the Ravens! We all knew this was gonna happen as soon as he fired his agent and hired Rosenhaus last year. I don't know if they'll redo it this year due to cap constraints, but I bet they will by the 2006 season. He is a star in the making and he should have a contract that will keep him here for a long while. And I also love that Taylor is a bad boy or a "thug"....ON the field that is!! |
Re: Sean Taylor wants to redo his deal already...
I dunno. Judging by his on-field personality, I would say YES. BUT, I read that he's normally a loner and really quiet kid off the field.
Yes, a real quiet kid unless he goes to a Garnder birthday party......then he becomes the life of that party.............. :party-smi |

And he was bangin' L. Cole's lady-friend. Man I hope Sean Taylor got the better end of that deal after the way Coles did us. |
Re: Sean Taylor wants to redo his deal already...
Seeing as how Coles gave testimony in favor of ST in his dui case, i dont think theres too much bad blood there. And Taylor did get a crap deal... not because of the money but the length of the deal. Most rookie deals go for 3-4 yrs tops, and he signed on at 7. Seven years is a long developmental period to see what kind of player you can become in the NFL, and seeing as how hes come from an uncertain rookie, to one of the top safeties in the league in one, i'd say he probably deserves a break.

Re: Sean Taylor wants to redo his deal already...
Some folks here have said that the Skins need to "make Taylor happy" so that they can lock him up for the long term - - sort of like the way the Eagels do with their emerging young stars. Good idea. However, I have to remind you that he is already under contract for six more years; it's just that he doesn't like that contract.
So, the dilemma is how do you "keep Taylor happy" while at the same time not teaching every player on the team that all you have to do to get a new deal from the Redskins is to be "unhappy" with your current contract? I'm the one here who thinks he's a "meathead". But he has tremendous physical skills that might - MIGHT - make him an outstanding player in the NFL if his brain can ever catch up to his body. So I don't think any team would want to lose him. But no team can survive for long if they get the reputation for being easy to push around when it comes to renegotiations. For example, SUPPOSE they redo his deal in the summertime and next winter he is "disgruntled" again. Do they redo it yet again? How do they break the news to him then that he's going to have to live with his redone deal when they didn't tell him he had to live with his rookie deal this year? This one is not as simple as it might seem. |
Re: Sean Taylor wants to redo his deal already...
I completely agree with that. I mean where do you draw the line? That's his agents fault and not the Redskins.
|
Re: Sean Taylor wants to redo his deal already...
HE SIGNED the deal
|
Re: Sean Taylor wants to redo his deal already...
He did. I just have this itching suspicion that he had NO idea what the contract entailed. But that's why he has an agent.
|
Re: Sean Taylor wants to redo his deal already...
HE SIGNED the deal, No one is bigger than the team
|
Re: Sean Taylor wants to redo his deal already...
It's not like this is new. Right after he signed the deal we were shocked he signed for so low. Then amazingly he was unhappy about the deal. Give him a deal he shouldn't be unhappy about, and let's move on. SC: It's a bit different than the scenario you lay out. He got a very low deal for a #5 pick, and I'm sure we're going to be asking Mr. Taylor to renegotiate multiple times in the future. Knowing that now shouldn't we do HIM a favor now and see how he reacts later in his career? We'll scratch his back if he scratches ours.

Re: Sean Taylor wants to redo his deal already...
I say redo his deal now, if he's disgruntled next year tough shit.
Besides, if they give him the kind of deal he should have got last year, I don't see how he'll be disgruntled. |
Re: Sean Taylor wants to redo his deal already...
I say the team comes first. When we start winning ball games - championships..the money will come. Taylor played great for us, but he made rookie mistakes as well...there should be a rule added in that rookies and players up to at least 2nd year players should get the league minimum....that gives them a chance to prove they are worth the big contracts.

Re: Sean Taylor wants to redo his deal already...
I agree Matty. Let him do it once and that's it.
