Re: Around the NFL: Week 5
So the NFL is supposed to know ahead of time that all these teams on the losing side of TNF would have had injured or suspended players?
I agree that the games are a big inconvenience for the teams. But some of the these blowouts took place due to unforeseen circumstances (injuries, suspended players, etc., etc.). The first two games were pretty competitive games. And coming up there are some evenly matched team on the docket.
thursday night games were a bad idea to begin with, the turnover is too quick. Teams are not prepared and guys are not 100%, it makes for bad football. The product is getting worse, but hey at least football is making a boatload of money. That what really matters. Money ruined the NBA and has devastated Nascar. Nascar is barely watchable. |

I understand that nobody complains about the teams playing on Thanksgiving, but still, it's pretty brutal - especially if you're playing back to back division games. |

Its really been amazing to watch, but a ton has changed and not overnight. I think in order to "family-tise" it for media and corporate sponsorship has done the most damage. Over haul of the image made it terrible. But if you look today, you have stuff like 4 car, multi team orgainizations where its become like a franchises which is horrible because we've eliminated the independents and smaller team which were the heart of the sport. The rules and regulations of basic racing has been terrible. Changes to the cars which made them basically all the same...the manufactures used to have more input, and cars were different. Also it less about the drivers and more about the cars...meaning the drivers and their driving styles have been eliminated. The points systems and the playoffs...cant find the right combo, but I think actually this year way makes the most sense. There is alot more, but those are the beginning. Nascar has lost a ton of folks, ESPN has stepped away, folks arent going to the races like they use to...and its easy to see why. |
Re: Around the NFL: Week 5

Besides being one of the worst safeties n the league this year, now he is done. he had been injury free for 2 straight season, but before was an injury risk/ dodged a bullet with this one |

Re: Around the NFL: Week 5
People here were going crazy when we didn't sign Byrd.
And we wonder why the professionals tune our voices out. :) |

Through four 2014 games, Pro Football Focus has graded Byrd 65th of 76 qualifying safeties. (Kenny Vaccaro, his Saints safety mate, is ranked dead last in PFF’s ratings.) And appearing on the Ross Tucker Football Podcast earlier this week, NFL Films senior producer Greg Cosell opined that Byrd might be “playing the worst” of any safety in the NFL this season, pointing to missed tackles as a big problem for the ex-Bill. Worse than Merrieweather? wow, now that is terrible |

BREAKING: Toxicology testing on Rob Bironas showed that he had a blood alcohol level of .218%, well over the legal limit (.08). I guess the reports of his eradicate driving were true. Thankfully this idiot didn't kill anybody else along with him. |

You have to drink for awhile to be that impaired. |

I bet there are a lot of quiet Skins fans that were chirping back then because we didn't pick him up. |
