Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
We don't need both them as backups. Can we please trade RG3 for the highest pick we can get then draft a young QB in the later rounds that has some upside and wont threaten Cousins as starter this year? Having 1 guy doing that is enough. Don't want QB carousel all year. Hopefully Cousins starts all 16 and Colt is solid backup.
Fixed it for you |
Makes sense, we will need a vet to back up Cousins
No offense my friend but reading that makes me want to hurt myself. I am back in the world of Rex and Beck. IMO we need a REAL starting QB, not just a prayer that someone will work out. |

My personal opinion is giving RG3 and Cousins both opportunity to compete for the job this upcoming season...looks like this wont be the case. |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
I just don't think the QB position is getting "fixed" this year. IMHO - Scot McC is seeing what JG can do with the materials at hand. If he makes progress, he gets another year and maybe a new QB (or maybe the QB position is resolved with the materials at hand). If no progress, despite all the other upgrades, then out goes JG and in comes Scot McC's coach (whomever that may be).
Again, no quick fixes but rather patience and seeking a long term solution at all levels. Fan base is going to need to make some attitude adjustments on how to judge progress. |

We already know from experience that you can't win with that group. |

I've historically found the rank and file B & G fan to be level headed, rational, patient, intelligent,....ur courteous, kind, obedient....... |

You talk like they are the only three guys on the team that can influence a win. |

I'd rather have Griffin starting, because he is better, but one of them should be starting and one should not be on the team. Having all 3 is ridiculous to go thru again. It's like a clown car. Colt is a perfect #2. |

Not sure I agree. Last year was JG's first as a coach, there was no QB coach, and Bill Callahan wasn't here. In addition, the D was - well - terrible. Let's see if the QB play improves with a year in the new system and a dedicated QB coach. You may be right, the current QB's may be truly limited in their ceilings. If so, we address it next year. On the other hand, patience is a virtue - we simply can fix it all in a year and, at that position, it's important to do it right. Otherwise, we keep recycling crap. |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
Makes me wonder if having all 3 makes it easier to trade one away

I think that this is the main influence behind this move |

We need to focus less on depending on QB play and more on our other areas. |
Re: Redskins reportedly are not bringing back Colt McCoy
I don't have a problem w/ Colt coming back. He is what he is. He can come in and win a game or two if needed. Nothing more, nothing less.
They must draft someone after Winston and Mariota. Get a young guy in the mix. They can't go with the same three guys again. I just think at the end of the day, at some point the owner has to look himself in the mirror and let go of his man crush on Griffin. You tried to hit a home run and swung and missed. He simply has too many flaws. I'd give him training camp and see where he's at. If he's not any better you have to move him. KC to me is the most capable guy on the roster. Not sure if that's saying much but he moves the offense, gets the wr involved and doesn't take a ton of sacks. I can live with his turnovers as long as there's improvement along the way. |

Well it looks like that's what they're doing/did. When Griffin is in there we don't see a pass over 10 yards. |

Sorry, I did not mean to imply that. Nonetheless, as for QB contributions to wins, we know already what the current QB group offers: nothing. We will once again have one of the worst QB groupings in the league if we stand pat. |
