I don't have an issue with McLovin being kept out of the media after putting his foot in his mouth over Kirk.
Exactly. A lot of what SM said might have been true but there was no need to say it to anyone, let alone in front of a camera. I would much rather wonder what is going on in Redskins Park instead of reading all the details a week in advance on Vinnyleaks.

**edit** tacking this on here as I think this is the right thread......

WTF happened to patience for a rebuild? If we had gone 6-10 then 9-6-1 I dont think there would be all of the BS. Honestly if I take a serious look at where the skins are, I am happy with the progress. We just need to stick with a plan and be patient. We have sucked since '91 who cares about another year or two of solidifying the roster and winning about as much as we lose? Heh, that would still be the best record across 5 years since Gibbs I. By far. Go Caps and get me another beer while your up please.

Here we go indeed. Based off his past history it might be reasonable to think that, but the article clearly states Cooley has nothing to go off of so he's clearly guessing on this one. And that's not a good thing considering he works for the team and has insiders. People might assume because of his connections that there could be some weight behind this. And yes, there could be some weight behind this, but you have nothing to go off of so it's not fair to McC to do that.

A bunch of idiots!!!!! Just keep quiet till there is something to talk about. I am talking about those in Redskin Park. Giving the jackals in the media any tasty tidbits is just going to magnify any situation. Damn derailing building the team doesn't give me much confidence in the front office. Cooley needs to cool it!!!! Geez this is
Trumplike crap.

I really, hate to say it, but that was the first thing I thought about when I first heard about this issue. And unfortunately, it makes a lot of sense. If your putting the gag on the GM and telling him to straighten up and keep his attention on player personnel, it sound exactly like Allen noticed SM not being in a condition to talk to the media.

I hope I'm wrong, but it does make sense.

Thought the same thing! Plus have you seen SM lately; his face is just strange.

I am obviously just speculating and I hope he is not dealing with demons.

I think because of speculation like that it becomes all the more imperative to get Cousins signed to a long term deal and real soon. If they fail to do that, I fear it's going to have a rippling of consequences.

What makes me want to bang my head into a wall over this is our past history. We had no trouble giving out a huge contract to Haynesworth, but now that we actually have a proven commodity at QB you can't pay him? Headscratching.

Has anyone said something besides Cooley? Was it just a random, "Hey, is Scot drinking again?" Unless there's some smoke, I don't believe there's any fire.

Alcoholics tend to have a very red tint to their faces and their faces also tend to get kind of puffy. So, I don't want to speculate and hope this is not true whatsoever. I'm just going to go on the premise that this is do or die time for the organization and the gag order is mainly just to shut out the talking heads and the media and focus on the task at hand. Too much is usually said to the media anyway.

Re: Trouble in Redskins Park?

Steinberg crushes it:
And so there seem to be three possible results of this speculation:

1. A team employee, on a Dan Snyder-owned radio station, falsely suggested that the team’s general manager relapsed into drinking. That seems not great.

2. A team employee, on a Dan Snyder-owned radio station, correctly guessed that the team’s general manager relapsed into drinking. That, also, seems not great.

3. A team employee was fed unflattering information about the team’s general manager by a palace rival, which he then placed into the public sphere, via a Dan Snyder-owned radio station. That seems both impossibly Machiavellian, and also in-keeping with modern D.C.
There's no reason to believe at this point that it's any more than #1. But yeah, not great.

There has been word that Kirk will not sign a long term deal and its why he hasn't committed to the organization.

Based on what?

He could have forced the issue last year, but instead it took him about 2 seconds to sign the tag.
