Prince William and Fairfax County both offer OT opportunities where you're in uniform with a patrol car - Wegmans is a prime example. Wouldn't be surprised if MoCo is the same way - a lot of agencies around here share resources and work together.
I'm telling you there's absolutely no way Montgomery County PD is paying the dime for 100+ officers to stand around at Fedex Field for 4+ hours on gameday - the team is paying for that.
I used to work part time for an event management team. Putting on races part of the expenditures was paying the jurisdiction for the necessary street closures and other need services EMT etc. |
It's PG County but I 'm basing my statement on a friend who was a NJ State Trooper and would work the Meadowlands.
Thanks for the correction - not sure why I thought it was MoCo. Every state is different, and even counties can do things differently. With the budget issues PGC has I don't see them spending that kind of money on gamedays. |
Re: The stadium thread 2: New stadium boogaloo
I would love for a stadium to built in DC.....but it's looking less and less likely since Virginia is in the running now.

Sent from my SM-G781U using Tapatalk
I would think if DS offers to pay for most if not all of it himself, the chances would increase. Otherwise, any DC mayor is put in the position of spending a lot of money on someone who is not too popular. And it's not like the specter of them leaving the city is there this time around. But yes, a stadium on the RFK site would be the best. |

Virginia has always been in the running just where in Virginia is the Question? |
Re: The stadium thread 2: New stadium boogaloo
A lot like the new uniform, new name talk…..winning would make any stadium cool. It is just a whole lot of lipstick on a pig unless we get a team on the field who knows how to win games. I am way more interested in this draft/free agency period than all the trimmings.

My friend, please meet the Richmond Red Raiders, our new team. I kid. My guess is DS builds it right next to FedEx Field. |

This was not to imply that Virginia wasn't in the running......it was to imply that it's looking less and less likely that the team will be playing in the District of Columbia..... |
Re: The stadium thread 2: New stadium boogaloo
The RFK site is where it should be, I don't think that's gonna happen, so Va. here we come...sigh!!

Bowser seems to be changing her tune. Let's hope they can do something at RFK.

There are no bars/restaurants around and nowhere to build any. I don't see that site having what DS wants for a new stadium. |
