My guess is he's already well on his way to doing that. Pro Day may surprise some folks...but I too think the weight thing is overblown.
Anyway, are NFL players that much bigger than SEC football players? I mean I know they are the elite of the elite, but it's not like he'll have LSU or AZ State players protecting him either.
You sure about that? |
RG3 ptsd.
I love Daniels. I think he'll be very good in the NFL. I just worry about the hits he'll take. Also, Staubach, Carmichael, Cunningham, etc were playing against 210# linebackers and 250# defensive lineman. Not really comparable.
RG3 was one of the worst open field runners to ever play in the NFL, no feel or vision. Just a straight line track guy who had no idea how to protect himself. Couldn't slide, wouldn't run out of bounds, not sure if it was ego or just stupidity. I don't see Daniels in the same way. |

I don't want to see any 200 lb qb refusing to slide just to prove a point. |

Sometimes the ideal body type for today’s game is actually smaller. https://operations.nfl.com/inside-football-ops/players-legends/evolution-of-the-nfl-player/ take that with all the new rules since cunninghams days to protect the QB and i think its very comparable |

Yes, I'm sure. He will have NFL players protecting him if he is on an NFL team. |
going throw a name out there
Randall Cunningham; playing heaight and weight 6-4 214 ilbs had i say a pretty good career and played at a time when QBs were not so protected by the rules JD ends up like Randall i be pretty happy with that pick
I said Harold Carmichael in the previous post. He would be a WR. Meant Randall Cunningham. Lol |
Re: QB Prospects Thread
Pretty crazy how tight lipped this front office is, we really have no idea which way they are leaning. Seems that more experts have us taking Maye, so because of that I'll say it will be Daniels. Either way I like the potential of both guys at #2 and won't hate it either way.
Any chance it is because they don’t want NE to know who they prefer because they are thinking trade back one spot with the Pats, giving the Pats first choice? If the Pats know we prefer Maye for example and the Pats prefer JD it would not make sense to move up one spot. But if the Pats prefer one or the other and want to make sure they get him than they might be willing to move into that second spot. |
Re: QB Prospects Thread
A front office exuding competence is so weird.

Re: QB Prospects Thread
Burrow, Herbert, Cousins all injured last year. None are considered runners. Rodgers went out for the year taking a damn snap. Tons of guys at all different positions big and small, fast and slow, get injured every single week. It is a violent sport. WR’s are running full speed and in the absolute most vulnerable positions and are usually skinny and fast, but 300 pound lineman who run nowhere get hurt just as often. The whole he is skinny and runs so he is going to get hurt is absolute hogwash.

Ha! All good, man! I thought you were implying that our O-line sucks, but we all know that's not the case 😀 |

Are we seriously not going to draft a stud qb because he's 6'4" and 210 lbs because he COULD get hurt since he's smaller? Huh? We are still hungover from the RG3 effect with this attitude. Any qb could get hurt. Daniels is superb at evading the pass rush which will also help with avoiding devastating blind side hits. This is not Penix with injuries. Kid's injury history is quite good with 2 years in the SEC even and 5 in D1 football. Massive difference in defensive players v. Big XII with RG3. |
Exactly what was the point of this thread that isn't already discussed in multiply threads?
Damn, I got pulled over by the thread police. Hopefully I can be let-off with a warning. I thought our next swing at a franchise QB was something that warranted it's own thread. We get it right/lucky, we're gucci, and winning a Super Bowl when RFK is our home/future home stadium. I'm on the J.D. hype train still (McCarthy is my official No. 2 now though): [YT]T1QHAD4qGgg[/YT] I can't see YouTube (on this site) on my phone or computer anymore. I have no idea if I posted this properly. |
Re: QB Prospects Thread
Please let me know if you can watch the above video. If so, I'll just assume that a big blank white space that I can't watch myself, means it's posted right.
