It was a hard fought victory, which makes it even sweeter.
There are a couple of things the team will need to clean up prior to the Lions game. Our running game was basically non-existent when we exclude JD's running yards. We really need to figure out how to get BRob going, and get our Oline to open holes effectively. Evans abused Lattimore. We gotta figure out a way to get Lattimore comfortable in the system.
Agree, probably not getting fixed in a week, basically offseason concerns I think Lattimore might be more effective next week but Brob and the running game needs a offseason glow up |

Re: Playoff Victory - Postgame Thread
Personally I loved DQ's aggressiveness. This is the playoffs, go win the game. I'd rather go down guns blazing than dying a slow death by kicking FGs. We've been so good on 4th downs all year, this team is just used to going for it.
Big ups to JD, Terry, Brown, Ekeler, these guys just kept coming up with plays in key spots. On to Detroit, anything is possible. |

not the worst idea |
Re: Playoff Victory - Postgame Thread
Awesome win! I went through the whole gamut of emotions last night. I couldn't even watch the FG attempt. I opened my eyes as Tirico was saying ...and the Washington..." then I saw it doink and didn't know right away if it went in or out... MAN!!!
Welp, we're playing with house money at this point. This next game will be the toughest this year, and probably more difficult than the potential NFC Championship game could be if they somehow pull it off this weekend. I'm on the fence about going for it on 4th down all the time. I wanted FGs both times, but what do I know. We won, so I guess it worked! I think the running game issues are two-fold. 1. Brob has zero vision right now. He is missing holes and not following the correct side of his blocks. It's obvious. 2. The O-line is collectively getting manhandled and missing (or slow to) their assignments. It's not sustainable. They need to figure it out if they want to have a chance this weekend. Anyway, we can enjoy this playoff win for a few days. Can't believe it... |
Re: Playoff Victory - Postgame Thread
Evans abuses CB's, end of. There's a reason he's had 11 straight 1000y seasons. And that PI call was dubious (along with a few other missed calls). And as far as Evans goes, they played him better 2nd half. I'd still say Lattimore has had much better games, but I'd also much rather he was out there than any of the other CB's (excepting Sainristil).

Re: Playoff Victory - Postgame Thread
Lattimore looks like a guy that hasn't played much football the last few months, he's rusty. Not worried about him long term.

Re: Playoff Victory - Postgame Thread
Regarding Lattimore, I would prefer it if they didn't put him out there on an island until he gets more game reps under his belt. I'm not concerned long term either, but he doesn't appear to have the legs just yet, not to mention the time in the system.

Re: Playoff Victory - Postgame Thread
I like going for it on 4th down when we convert them. I don't like going for it on 4th down when we don't convert them.
Too early for a Lions pre-game thread? I really hope Lattimore on an island vs. St. Brown is not part of the game plan next week. |
I see no reason at all the sign Higgins.
No reason at all? This team needs a #2 receiver. If you go in the draft it is an unknown. Higgins is already a 6'4" star who is young consistently putting up 1,000 yd seasons. Mike Evans showed last night how unstoppable a tall receiver can be and has for a long time. Higgins is the perfect complement to McLaurin.
We can address a lot of other needs in the draft and cheaper FA options. I am usually not a proponent of breaking the bank for 1 player. Higgins is the exception. His production, size, age, and overall package would be perfect. |
Re: Playoff Victory - Postgame Thread
Injuries are the main concern with Higgins but man when he's in the lineup he's a big time target.
Definitely need more weapons, I'll trust in whatever Peters does. |

Noah Brown isn't quite as big or as athletic as Higgins, but he was doing well with JD until he got hurt, so Higgins makes total sense to me. Maybe the question is whether we're willing to sign him for what will likely be #1 money... |

Definitely need more weapons, I'll trust in whatever Peters does.
Agreed, we need talent throughout the roster and the money has to be spent on something. WR, OL, CB, whatever he thinks the best value deals are or if he thinks the draft is weak at certain positions, and they need more FA attention. He has definitely more than earned the trust to do whatever he wants. We're going to be playing meaningful football on January 18th. That is just wild!! |
