Re: Postgame thoughts
Is it possible that our offense isn't really that bad, and that Chicago, as much as we don't want to admit it, as a team isn't that bad either? Both of these teams will probably get better as the season wears on.
That being said I was disappointed with the lack of scoring today and the lack of defensive pass rush. But overall pleased with a win! Wins in the NFL are tough to come by and we just can't chalk up a win just because we think the other team just isn't as good as our home team. Ask Carolina, the Jets, and a few other teams that had horrible showings today. I do think Brunell will get the nod next week, however. I think the only way Gibbs can truly remedy this thing hanging over this clubs' head is to trade either Ramsey or 'Scott' Brunell. hehehe Oh, and I think we definitley got the best of the Moss/Coles deal. And Smoot and Co. didn't look so hot in Minnasota did they? |
Re: Postgame thoughts
i think smoot had an interception in his minnesota gamer.

Re: Postgame thoughts
Well the Chargers struggled today as they did all last year to put up a pass rush, and that will be a key to our game next Monday, we gotta pressure Bledsoe.
I hate to say it but Dallas' D looked pretty good, Brees was under a lot of pressure..... but you can also say the Chargers gave that game against Dallas away.......3 STUPID STUPID penalties in 3rd down situations that gave Dallas a first down each time.... we can't do the same thing.......gotta play smart :dallas: |
Re: Postgame thoughts
The Chargers have a pretty good defense, but I think our defense will be better at frustrating Bledsoe. We like to give a lot of looks and I think Williams is smart enough to know that pressure kills Bledsoe. You can bet that Williams will be closely studying the Chargers-Cowboys game film and will adapt his scheme to keep the Cowboys from scoring fewer than 28 points.

Re: Postgame thoughts
It was awesome to celebrate my b-day today with a Skins win, which u wouldn't think is what happened if u read a lot of posts today. Skins d-line definitely needs to create more pressure and unless fully cleared to play, I think Gibbs sticks with Brunnel cuz Ramsey took a seriously wicked shot that could have lingering effects for a week or so. I'm definitely excited by the big plays of Moss and seeing Portis break a couple of nice runs. And we could easily make some complaints about the officiating today, but I think the team should be pretty confident in their chances next week, especially on the defensive side and with the offense knowing that they can move the ball against a pretty good defense, but they need to develop that killer instinct when they close upon the redzone. :dallas:

Re: Postgame thoughts
I could careless about moving the ball. FDs aren't going to cut it...especially when facing good teams.

amen to that |
Re: Postgame thoughts
The fact of the matter is we won, and that's great. The other fact is we will improve as the season progresses. I think the Cowboys D is worse than the Bears and their O is much, much better. So next week like every week after that we need to play better D, and better O. This is the first game of the season and if Gibbs is smart he will stick with Ramsey and let continuity set into place.
The bottom line is that we won an ugly game but a win is a win. If we win every game in an ugly fashion I will still be happy. |
Re: Postgame thoughts
Surprised by the HYPER negativity from some of the posts here. No one is saying that we looked good today on offense--if your offense gets no TDs, you don't look good, period. But the season didn't just end today beacuse of our O play. The O-line looks a lot better; Moss is a legit threat; and Portis ran for 121 on a very strong D that was stacking the run. Maybe, just maybe, those trends will continue and the points will come. I know your faith has been shaken by last year's play, so you assume we're just the same as we were. But I don't think that's the case.
Look, no one is happy with 9 points. But that was one game (a win, at that). Maybe we'll get better? I know--I'm seeing the glass as half full here. But y'all (and you know who I'm talking about in this thread) aren't even seeing it as half empty. You're seeing it as bone dry. And its way too early for that. |
Are you wanting to live in the past or the now....last year is last year. And we don't play Minnesota this year....did you see what Tampa did to them?? I hate this sh**. You guys prove me wrong somewhere down the road and we'll talk. We CAN"T SCORE POINTS. And this is no different than last year. Did you also see what KC did to the Jets offense.......oh yeah.....shut them out. If there is any way to make negative points, we would be able to do it.
uh, you said we couldn't hang with them, i answer by saying "well, judging by last year we can" and then you bring up some BS about living in the past? Either you're not paying attention or you're being an a-hole. |

That goes without saying. All I'm saying is there are some positives we can take away from this game. The scoreboard doesn't always tell the entire story. |
