This is what creates the most excitement for me about the new regime. I think things are going to be handled a lot differently. More professionally. |
Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis
totally LOLing about whoever voted for Portis in the poll. Campbell may not be our answer at QB....but it is the pot calling the kettle black.
Portis, who doesn't practice, attend team meetings, or workout in the offseason, criticising another player's ethics is unacceptable. I do not like Jason but i support him fully in this argument. |
Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis
Portis must have an account here.

Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis
Good for JC taking up for himself. Portis is just too honest for his own good. I do think there is some truth to what CP said even though he shouldn't have said it. Some truth. JC isn't a vocal guy. Most successful QB's in this league are vocal leaders. They demand performance and execution. They can also back it up by there play. I like JC, i'm just not sure he's the guy.
CP has worn out his welcome though. I'll trust the new guys to do the best thing for the team. |

Hey Matty remember that guy from like in October that was posting on here and people thought he was Portis? He had a saints image as his avatar and people were accusing him of being Portis because he was making statements that were highly personal about Portis personal feelings and life, etc....
I can't think of his name but people on here seriously believed he was Portis.... |

Of course there are players on here. Why shouldn't they have a direct link to our idiotic ramblings? Let them have their fun like we do. We're all anonymous, let them be.

Brian Mitchell dropped in not too long ago. Funny but his post was kinda glossed over by everyone. I noticed it myself just recently. http://www.thewarpath.net/redskins-locker-room/32565-do-you-expect-zorn-to-fired-9.html#post606773 Gary Clark has posted here, but for some reason he said he was Ricky Sanders, but I confirmed it was Clark. There are others that probably prefer to not be called out. I'm not sure about CP though. He very well could be here. I've exchanged emails with him, or someone identifiying himself as CP with no real reason to lie about such a thing, so who knows. |
Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis
Campbell showed toughness and leadership in practice and gameday (ask Malcolm Kelly about extra workouts with Jason). He took more hits and punishment than anyone else (except maybe London Fletcher delivering the punishment). Despite the season's swirling down the toilet bowl around him, he still played hard and tried to carry the team to victories even if others had given up. He's earned a LOT of respect from me.
Portis used to be my favorite Redskin but with his recent lack of heart, effort and production, he's no longer a leader and sometimes not even tolerable any more. After Sean Taylor's death, Clinton was a real leader who rallied the team and brought energy to the field to help that big run to the playoffs. Since then, he's becoming too much like Iverson, wanting to be the top guy on game day but do his own thing while the rest of the team is working hard and preparing. Sorry, CP, I can't support you this time. Everything Jason said was true and needed to be said. I just hope the decision to keep the real leader is made. I thank Portis for all of his past contributions and memories as the #2 all-time Redskins rusher, but it's time for him to move on or be moved. I doubt Shanahan will tolerate his running to Snyder and selfishness over what's best for the team, so maybe it's a great thing that this blew up right now as the new staff is coming in. Early enough to fix the problem (Portis) and make the decision to keep the real leader (Campbell). In my recaps of JC's stats, I have been saying for a month or so that I've been noticing some real leadership developing. This situation is proving it. Never before has he stood up to attacks and yet, he's doing it now in a way that shows he wants what's best for the entire team. I WAS speaking of on-field leadership before, but now we're seeing he can be a leader off-the-field as well. |

Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis
if CP wasnt injured he would have put up close to 1500 yds rushing like he always does.
man, a guy gets injured 1 year and all of the sudden he's a cancer? portis is a top back in this league and the least of our problems. (j/k but this is the last time i'll say this then i'll drop it . . .anyone who is now calling portis a cancer, not a team player or expendable, please go read your posts this past offseason where anyone posting what you guys are posting now got blasted) http://www.thewarpath.net/redskins-locker-room/27265-portis-7.html |

Numbers are great, but he needs to be putting them up for the team, not his own benefit and legacy. |

Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis
Rather than cutting CP I would like to see him come back & be truly humbled & be part of the team. I know that's asking for a lot of maturation in a short time, but imagine this scenario:
Betts rehabs his knee & looks surprisingly quick. Shanny says before camp that the starting RB job is an open competition between CP, BEtts, and maybe Ganther & a rookie (don't see Rock in that mix at least as a starter). Betts or somebody else wins the starting job. CP either becomes the 3rd down back behind Betts or the 3rd string behind Betts & a new starter. He either accepts his role & becomes a valuable contributor picking up blitzes & catching dump offs, or he complains, skips practice, talks about teamates & Shanny Keyshawns him. Like Matt Mosely said on espn.com, how Shanny deals w/CP will indicate a lot about how much control of the team he has from the danny. If he's not cut from day 1, I expect there to be a serious confrontation between CP & Shanny/mgmt. at some point. |

Portis could be a GREAT 3rd down back in either rushing or passing situations where he needs to block. We just need to make sure his feud with Campbell is over so he doesn't "miss" blocks on purpose. Sadly, I could now see him pulling that. |

Dorsey had a good camp with the Bengals, I remember pulling for him on Hard Knocks, could be a good #3 type of back. Not sure if he's much else at this point though.

Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis
Maybe Shanny can pull of a Portis trade for Champ Bailey. :D
Honestly, I'd throw in a #1 pick for 2011 to get that done. (again) |
ok fine, maybe i am a bit harsh. Make fun of me if it makes you feel better.
But seriously, what else does Portis have to do to make people realize he is anti-team?
Naw eff that! I've got your back Snake! Portis is a cancer that needs to be cut out. Shanny-han is going to get rid of him or put him on a leash. He did it before, he'll do it again. |

Oh, I confused him for Bernard Scott. I was watching a few episodes of Hard Knocks on YouTube and when I saw a Bengals Running Back wanted in on the Skins I thought it was him. |

Portis has been spotted in the thread! His identity is Dirtbag359! 4,057 posts? He's had time for that this season. User title is "Playmaker"? He has a member of upper management for an avatar? You've been exposed, Clinton. |
Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis
If you read between the lines, Jason is letting out that his demeanor on the field is to lead by example but off the field it may be different. He feels its a team matter and should not be aired in the press. So he might be getting in other players faces but not in public to humiliate them. Another reason to give him another opportunity next year. And another reason to let Portis go. Trade him for Champ Bailey.

Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis
Portis and everyone else needs to look into the mirror first before criticizing anyone else.
But that doesn't change that Portis is right that Campbell doesn't know how to lead. |
Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis
If Campbell, Portis, or anyone else on offense was leading this team, the results of this past season would have been a lot more different.

A lack of leadership is what the redskins had last season. Tell me I'm wrong. Campbell as qb is supposed to be one of the leaders, if not THE leader-- especially for an west coast offensive-minded team. Tell me I'm wrong. |

I'd say the bigger problem was the lack of a decent offensive line. Even with that line he posted a QB rating of 90 or better in 9 games, 5 of those games he was over 100. But it's JC's fault for lack of leadership? |

He needed to sometime approach the player tell them to get it together but I just never saw him do that. Look Dan Snyder and I aren't even that close, but I'm telling you guys Shannahan is a great coach, I mean it's not like I'm trying to secure a job or anything. Oh and while I'm at it Bruce Allen is the best GM in the league, specially if he keeps me. Of course if either one of them decides to cut me then I must say that move is "genius". Still B-Mitch I'm getting tired of this, I'm fetching Gilbert Arenas on your sorry ass. By the way my line sucks, can I please get some blockas! |
Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis
Campbell displayed tremendous leadership. He continued to fight despite all the backstabbing in the off-season, the lost of his best offensive linemen, running backs, tight end and the piss poor play calling. With all this adversity, he didn't once complain or come up with excuses, he just kept on plugging along. That's a true leader. It's easy when things are going well, but true leadership is demonstrated when things are falling apart.
