I have no problems that the Vikings scored again that late, and I LOVE the fact that dallass is whining about it....but that being said, if Ware or someone else came unblocked on one of those passing plays and laid Favre out and hurt his shoulder or something, he and the rest of the Vikings would have felt pretty stupid.
The Boys need to stop them from running up the score. Also I get tired of people with their (If ah woulda, coulda) Nothing you said happen so it really is irrelevant to bring up a bunch of ifs'. If Ifs' were fifths we would all be drunk. Please stick to the facts of the game, thanks. |
Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
Well again, I think this was more about the Vikings and the naysayers than the Cowboys. They were being told all week how the Cowboys were on such a roll and how Romo had this so called monkey off his back and how he can relax now blah, blah, blah. And like Childress said, they were just fed up by Tuesday. So I think they just wanted to shove it down everyone's collective throats, not just Dallas'.
If this weekend proves anything, it goes to show that you have to play the game. Everything is earned this time of the year and nothing can be taken for granted. The Chargers made a ton of mental mistakes today. Antonio Gates had a few easy ones dropped, Philip Rivers wasn't crisp at all, Vincent Jackson kicking the flag, three missed FGs by an All-Pro kicker, the head-butt down in the red zone. It was a meltdown; That's coaching if you ask me. LT looked totally deflated during his presser. I think he just wants to move on at this point in his career. I thought it was very telling that he responded to a reporter and said, look, this isn't the first time this has happened to us this late in the season.
Good post!!! I agree 100% |
Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
So by your logic the Redskins were never in many close games this year. We were not good enough to win your right. Only good enough to get there but plenty to build on.
This is a Skins forum, please go find one that represent the Boys and join it and get off ours!!! SMH |
Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
When was the last time Washington won a NFC championship or even went to one for that matter. I am thinking it was the 1991 season? Ouch. No freaking NFC Championship Game since 1991 and you talk about droughts. Trust me its gonna be several years before the Redskins get anything on track. 1991 geez lol. I am shocked with how many around here talk about the Cowboys post season when the DeadSkins have done even less. Seriously going 20 years back only two division titles. After the Skins last superbowl I think you are tied with Dallas after their last won with just two playoff wins. I guess our teams could be the Cincy who is in a real drought.
It's always funny to me how Boys fans lift up their playoff prowless of 1 win in 13 years. Yeah you been there more then the Skins, but you don't win. In the same 13 years the team that is supposed to suck so much more than you has 2 playoff wins to your 1. The way I see it the cowgirls are still one in the hole in comparison to the sorry Skins. Now that the facts are on the table if the sorry team has won more playoff games then you my question is what does that make your team? Super Sorry!!!!! LMBO!!!! |
Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
I dont think they ran up the score..it's the playoffs, it's not like a regula season game. What were they supposed to do? Have childress put in all his backups with 6 minutes to go?? What would have happened then when the 2nd team started putting points on the board??
They kept the fucking hammer down against the Eagles. They wanted to embarass them, and humiliate them. Nobody from Philly cried like Brooking did. The cowboys deserved it because their offense was dead the whole game and their defense is shit. It's the NFL people, if the score is being run up on you, that's because you are letting it. |

The latest is Roy Williams was whining following the game about not getting looks. Three picks, $45 million later, and not one catch from this bum in a huge playoff game.
Probably one of the worst trades of this era. |
VRG, it took courage to show your face here. Props to you for that.
Yeah, I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you here. I don't think it was an act of courage for her to come on here and attempt to talk more shit after the boys got humiliated. In fact, I think this was VRG's sad little attempt to make herself feel better. She was sitting there at the clinic on her blackberry going "well the cowboys still had a better record than the Redskins, so I'm going to go talk trash to their fans to make me feel like I'm important." She's just deflecting and I think it's pretty damn funny.
Funny, I was going to bring this up. I took a lot of flack before that game was even played because I said the score was going to be ridiculous.
Hey ish happens. Brooking should have been in Jason Garrett and the o-line face because the defense kept the team in the game as long as they could.
Truly, 17-3 isn't keeping someone in the game. |

Thank you. It was classless, and it was a Belicheat move. Ask yourself this question, would Joe Gibbs every do that? No; because he has standards and sportsmanship. It was a dick move. Period. Can't be upset at the Pats and not the Viks. However, if you are happy the Cowboys suffered, that is fine. Spoken truthfully, dmek:goodjob: |

I'd say it's easier to stop a 4th down attempt than a field goal.
Or perhaps they should have just taken a knee even though there were 2 minutes left. To me that's just as bad as going for the TD because it makes the cowboys look like they need charity. I guess the only acceptable option would have been to run the ball, but if the RB broke it for a TD we'd still be in the same situation. |

I said this in the beginning of the thread that these are professional football players. It's not Central Virginia Valley State University College versus the University of Alabama. I have no problem with scoring every time you have a chance. I'm only sad the Vikings didn't put up more points on them. |
Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
Even if it's true that it's classless to go for the score in that situation (debatable but whatever) it's even MORE classless to whine about after the fact and preen like a chump in front of the sidelines. How did Gibbs react when Belichick went for it on fourth down in the fourth quarter leading 45-0? By stating emphatically that there was nothing wrong with what he did. Let other people call it classless Keith, you just got your bitch ass whooped so ride out quietly into the night.
|
Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
So when did it become classless for an O to go out and do their job by scoring. I personaly thought that was he best thing the Vikes could have done because at that point in the game they still had Petterson in the game running the ball. After that TD the O could just take a knee and run out the clock not riskin anyone getting injured.

Nope, not a single bit. It just proves that changes needed to be made. If you are that inferior to your competition, you deserve it.

Fair enough. I guess I just disagree. It doesnt make sense to score, when the game is 100 percent over. Burn the clock and end the game quicker, without rubbing it in. |

I also dont think that running the score up proves anything. It was clear the Boys were getting owned, scoring that extra TD did nothing IMO. It may have sent a message to the NFL, stating they are dicks. The Pats have cemented that impression quite will. |
Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
edit - i was hammer-time yesterday. just read the game re-cap and the score was 27-3 not 17-3 like i thought.
VRG props for showing up but i guess you had to from your performance here last week. |

i didnt think the game was 100% over. the only way the vikes could have burned the clock was to go for it or attempt a 47 yd (?) field goal. you miss that fg and the boys believe again. |

Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
People siding with the Vikes are nothing but hypocrites. 2007 New England 52 Redskins 7. Remember??? How soon we forget. It's funny how when someone else gets the score run up on them ( Dallas) it's ok, but when it happens to us Bill Belicheck is an asshole. It's pro football. If you can't take getting scored on when the game is out of hand then either do something about it or find something else to do with your life. I can't stand it when people bitch about running up the score.

Let's just say we were playing that game against Minnesota yesterday. And it was us getting run up on. Everyone here would be crying like babies. Please.

It is ony hypocritical if you thought there was something wrong with it back in 2007. Which I did not This is the playoffs, not preseason. Bring your A game or else stay home. I can not believe some are upset about a team playing to their best of their abilities to win in the playoffs. A few of the younger Dallas player on defense were running their mouths early in the game. When they made a great play they would go right up to the Vikings player and talk shit and taunt them. Where is the outrage for that kind of classless play? Can't have it both ways. Instead this punk gets upset about getting scored on? Dry your tears and come back when you have a better team. |

Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
Has anyone brought up the fact that with 2 minutes to go, down 24-3 and on their own ~30yard line, the cowboys went for it on 4th down? If they really thought the game was already over and it was just a matter of letting the clock run out, why not just punt the ball away? Why even risk giving the vikings that kind of field position? Obviously the cowboys were still playing as if they thought they could win, with maybe the exception of Keith "We're Gonna Bust'em In The Mouth" Brooking.

Well t be fair by punting away when down by that much that would be saying we give up. I never want for my team to give up no matter how slim of a chance they have of winning a game and it was also a playoff game on top of that. |

what i'm saying is it's ok for minn. to run it up on dallas but it's not ok for bill belichick and new england to run it up on joe gibbs and the redskins. i had no problem with either. most people here are happy that minn. ran it up on dallas but were bitching when it happened to us. |

I don't think it would have been that big a deal if Brooking would'nt have acted like an ass on the field about it. I don't neccessarily agree with what they did but they could have kicked a surething FG if they just wanted to run the score up. They took a shot and made it. If they didn't make it, no score.. Dallas ball. As arrogant as Dallas is and the way Miles acted after every reception, I don't really blame the Vikes. |
Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
I can see both sides. I would be pissed if I was a Dallas fan, but more for the fact they got handled all day long. As for the Vikings, it's the playoffs, you go 110% until the whistle blows. Let's face, it everybody takes some joy in stomping on "America's Team". The last score was a statement more than anything else.

Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
Personally, I think Minnesota was pissed at how everyone in the media had given the Cowboys a pass and pretty much wrote off the Vikings. At the post game press conference, Childress mentioned how he told his team to just shut up and let all the cowboy coranation hype go by. He also said it was hard getting 50 athletes to "stifle it" after continually hearing about these "Tasmanian devils from north texas that are just going to rip through Minnesota".
And this from Vikes DT Pat Williams: “They overlooked us,” Pat Williams said, “and that’s fine. Basically, that’s how they ride down there. I don’t blame them, I guess. They’re young. They can be cocky. They’ve got a cocky owner, so that’s how they ride. But they came into this dome, and it was hostile for them. ” While it may not have been the "classiest" move, I think that final TD was big giant F*** you to the media and Cowboys from a team that had to listen to a bunch of crap all week long. |
