I agree that he has done bad things in the past. But he seems to have gotten his act together. And he played some pretty good ball with the Cards, good ball that he could have played for us.
yeah i hear that, i am not saying he would'nt be an upgrade to our atrocious o-line. he would. i am happy to have him here to play for us, he just needs to act like a grown adult. |
in the last year, thats true. but acting like a drunken idiot at a restaurant and pointing a gun at a stripper? classy. those are the kinds of guys we need under this new regime.
Shaking a bottle of champange, popping the cork, and the getting everyone else may be considered stupid, but to claim that he was drunk while doing it is ludicrous becuase he hadn't even consumed the alcohol. BTW, they dropped the charges against him for the restaurant incident. re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
the one or two times i watched the Cards last season Bridges was nothing more then a human turn- style. im not sure why people want him here. haven't we seen enough of that around here already?
Does he want to play for the redskins or does he want a big payday?
I think it's more the big payday. But I think the Skins have to move Rogers first (which I'm not even sure is a priority of theirs) By the way, I think Bridges is a long shot to return. |

Smootsmack, could you rank for me the FA's that are most likely to come here to the least likely to come here, that have been mentioned on this thread.

I can't. It's just not as clear this year. And with the new rules it makes it especially tough. I may have a better idea by Thursday Right now I would say one of the Chargers RB-most probably Darren Sproles-could be a Redskin by Saturday Peppers isn't likely Robinson I really don't know Dansby has a lot of options and I'm not sure he really wants to play here. Then you have guys like Weigmann, Hamilton who can be signed later They may also go after Anthony Schlegel (LB-formerly of the Bengals I think). He played for Haslett in the UFL |
Mentioned this to Matty earlier, but I think we're going to be offering Sproles a big contract come Friday morning
Ben Hamilton and Casey Weigmann will probably be here pretty quickly as well...or we may just wait for the rest of free agency to play out first knowing that we plan on signing them anyway. Like we did with Hunter Smith last year Not sure where we are with Robinson, think he wants to be here more than we want him here (could be wrong though) Dansby could take a while
always hard to decipher where the "thinking" comes from |

whats the word or carlos? dont we have to tender him by 11:59 pm tomorrow or he becomes a FA? i havent heard anything about carlos which scares me into thinking the skins might just let him walk which i would have a real real hard time understanding. |

The Post has us tendering Rocky now so maybe they just haven't announced the tender to Carlos yet.

Rogers will get tendered, can't see him not getting one.

I agree with you just pointing out that Ravens were interested in him since some people were hoping we would pick Walter up since he knew K.Shanahan's offense. |
re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
This year I've a different perspective on FA than last year's off-season. I want to see how Allen handles our FAs. From what it sounds like, all the guys that are worth a damn are getting 2nd round tenders or are going to get tendered. That's a far cry from the day when we'd just let everyone hit the bricks.
Soup = will be tendered Golston = will be tendered Doughty = will be tendered Raback = in negotiation. Rogers = will be given a pair of hands to replace his bricks. I'm sure there wil be a few more that'll work something out. |
re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
Whoa, Rocky sounds a tad bitter:
Redskins Insider - McIntosh 'on short end of the stick' in uncapped year
Shortly after the interview ended, McIntosh called back to make a few more points. "And one more thing," McIntosh said. "What can they say about me? Statistically, I'm proven and I'm consistent. I mean, what? They try to knock me down because of my knees or whatever. Oh, yeah, I missed a couple of games, but other than that I've been out there. I've always been to training camp and I've always practiced, so you can't say I'm hurt. "And they dang sure can't say I'm a punk. Make sure you put that out there, you know, in terms of me being out there on the field and not being physical because I am. So there's nothing that they can say [negative] about me. It's tough because under this collective bargaining agreement, I fall under a restricted free agent. But if you don't want me, and you don't want to give me anything that's even close to fair, just let me go. Let me start over somewhere else."
|

Yep, mine too. Solid player. In the 3-4 scheme, "Players in the secondary will have more responsibility in terms of making calls, and Doughty is among the brightest on the team coaches and players say." |

^wow...i mean come on man everybody is dealing with the CBA issue. I think Rocky has been decent, but with this new scheme coming, I dont think it will fit him as others. I think the low tender is the right move, right now. If he excells this year, he will get paid.

if he gets seriously injured, hes done for his career. if he gets a hammy injury and misses 5 games next year, he goes into a FA with question marks that would diminish his opportunity to get a good deal. if we sign dansby to a multi year deal, i think rocky will be real pissed. we drafted this guy, watch him slowly develop into a decent linebacker, then when he is set to hit FA after playing on a 5 yr rookie deal we slap him with a 1 yr 1 million dollar tender? rocky = dansby, atleast stats wise they are almost identical. lets low ball a skins player who has done nothing try and do what he is asked, and then give money to a FA linebacker who wants to get paid? havent we heard this story before? dont we know how it will end? dont give me that "its a business" crap. right, its a business when we are going to low ball your worth b/c we can but it's "family" when we hit pre-season and regular season and need you to go out and play your hardest without worrying about injury. how willing is rocky going to be to sacrifice his body for the team after this? |

I was kinda surprised to see that; Shanahan must have seen something in him.. Would be definitely nice if we get 2nd round pick for him, although it's not the likely scenario.. Rocky is upset about being tendered; he apparently wants a extension contract or move onto other team.. Hopefully he (and the coaches) will change their opinions on each other through out the season.. |

I'm not the biggest Heyer fan but I guess Shanahan wants to keep him for depth. He's a decent backup. Rocky just needs to shut up and play. If he has another productive season, I can definitely see them offering him an extension at some point. |

That might be the main reason - after all, we literally have no decent depth on O-line beside few guys.. I can understand this move, I guess.. Edit: I used to be a fan of Heyer; I was hoping that he would improve throughout the season with experiences.. But apparently, he hasn't improved much and coaches didn't have any faith in him.. So.. |

Well, I know if we tried trading Heyer for Bushrod, that wouldn't work, maybe we could throw in a little something-something to get Bushrod, because he IS an upgrade over Heyer, thats for sure.

re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
If I'm not mistaken the only players left to tender are JC, C.Rogers, and Monty. What time is the deadline to tender RFA's? I wonder if they're waiting until the last minute to see if they can work out a trade before the deadline?
