Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
OK...so is there gonna be a battle for the starting qb job or have the keys been given to McNabb? Is JC gonna be traded to do you keep him as quality backup?

McNabb apparently wanted to come to D.C. Interesting.
why are they pissed? can u tell me what their opinion and rationale of this deal is? my experience with eagles fans is that they would be glad to see him gone and kolb take over, but i dont think they imagined him with the skins |
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
Andy Reid holds presser at 9:30 tonight.

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
I think SmootSmack had a hand on this, don't be surprised if we draft Jevan Snead with the 3rd rounder we'll get for Campbell. LOL.
ARE YOU KIDDING??? He has battled injuries almost every year! He rarely creates with his legs anymore....
Or five months. Whichever comes first.
McNabb probably is the best quarterback we've had in 20 years. But he's still the 4th best quarterback in the division, which means we're going to need to look elsewhere to get that competitive advantage against our rivals.
I don't know.. by stats he's 2nd, including the advanced type of stats that you like.. until you say that stats don't matter then back it up with stats :silly: |
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
Damn! I didn't see this coming. I thought if anything, something might happen over draft weekend, if both teams got desperate
|
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
A 2nd round QB wasn't going to give us the instant impact DM is going to. Grab Okung at #4 and we're definitely looking at a vastly improved offense.

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
I love it. Nothing changes your fortunes like a QB. Keep in mind, nobody keeps INTs to a minimum like Donovan McNabb. I can find stats to back that up all day long.
Football is about turnovers. The 3-4 defense is designed to create them, and few QBs minimize them like Donovan does.
Excellent point, though, that would mean that the biggest change from last year to this year was the defensive aggression. Which, I hope, would have been a change all along. Turnover margin wins games, but McNabb is a fumbler, and we need a super-strong offensive line to protect him and make sure he keeps moving the chains. He'll take care of the INTs on his own, which I think helps with the development of the receivers a bunch. |
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
Holey Crap! I don't look at it today and Bam. I'm not happy. I'm not a fan of McNoodle.
Any chance this is the beginning of a trade with the Rams? Especially since they were interested in McNabb anyway? |
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
def not getting the jersey.. no clue how long he'll be here, what he'll do, etc
I'll root my ass off for him but that's about it
You'll know soon enough when we give him a contract extension. |

With all the bootlegs and stuff along with the big targets on O, McNabb will feel younger already after Fat Andy tried to make him a pure pocket passer. |

I don't think the chances of JC being here past the draft is very good at all now. |

Well they don't like the fact he's been traded within the divsion. And for every person that hated McNabb, there were probably two or three that loved him. Also, I'm hearing that the timing of this move may have been a PR one to grab the headline from the Phillies, who by the way, open in D.C. tomorrow. |
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
Just heard that in addition to the 37th pick, the Eagles get a conditional pick next year- either our 3rd or 4th. We now only have 4 picks in this years draft. Gotta think we're really going to try to trade down from 4th overall and/or trade a current player or two for more picks.
See ya Campbell. I don't know how I feel about this yet. Gimmie some time to process.
Yeah def a bit back and forth on this. Overall McNabb can do great things which is an upgrade over what we have. Is he better than using that 2nd on someone else? I don't know, guess it would depend who was there. This probably would've made for a more interesting draft day trade but it looked like they were trying to get McNabb moved ASAP as that's what McNabb requested. definitely bittersweet |

Finally I get to yell "OKUNGGG" like a bumbling drunk and finally mean it. Of course my money is now on the Skins trying hard to trade back. Schfter even said that he expected the Redskins to do that. |

McNabbs stats are not that much better especially with a better OL. |
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
This is fine with me, we get a Tackle with the first pick, and now instead of drafting a second tier QB with the 2nd round pick, we get a starter and upper tier QB in the league. Get ready to see some of our players traded to acquire some more picks in this years draft. BYE BYE COOLEY????????????
like I said I'd love to trade down now.. should still be a tackle that we like and then go BPA or best lineman available with the other pick that we get, which should be a 2nd or 3rd, unless we opt for a next year 1st |
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
This is part of a long term plan for the Skins. Donny Mac will help install Shanny's offense, and be a team leader. Allen will draft a Golden Boy next year to groom for a year or two and then take over when things are hopefully rolling. I don't think we'll be immediate contenders, but McNabb is a good bridge to the future. Heck, Campbell would have been gone next year anyway, I bet he's THRILLED that he gets to leave sooner.

Campbell was 25th.
We could argue all day whether McNabb or Kolb is the better 2010 QB, but the team that had them both thinks Kolb is. We think McNabb is. |
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
I hate this. I live in Eagles country and now they are talking about how good McNabb is. Here is why I think it's good.
1) This guarantees us Russel Okung to come and protect him. We now have a reason to build a draft around an offensive line. 2) The Eagles will be MISERABLE should McNabb beat them next season, and this rivalry flares up. 3) McNabb will be helpful for our receivers to develop at this point by giving them a better offense. 4) We have now have (assuming we bulk up our O-Line now): A top 10 defense, an experienced QB who has a whole lot of motivation, 3 running backs capable of starting, and a group of receivers who are unproven with a lot of potential. 5) Campbell has to be on his way out sometime soon, and hopefully we swing a few draft picks in the process. 6) (and most importantly) There is a reason Shannahan pulled this move. He must think that if he can patch up a few more holes in the offense, that this team has a chance to win NOW. He is now planning to completely re-build in maybe a year or two. |
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
hmmm wonder if we are cosidering trading him to the Rams and work a deal for the #1 pick? could this be a possiblility

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
i think we will try to trade down now personally. the draft is deep for o-linemen and if we could move down 5-10 spots we could still get a top quality tackle. dont rule out a qb though to groom behind mcnabb.

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
Any insight into whether mcnabb is a good fit in shanny's offense?
Also, perhaps it is easier to transition between offenses with a vet at the helm, so that next year, mcnabb will be able to tutor whoever we draft at QB (ryan mallett anyone?). Hope we get something good in exchange for JC when we deal him |

Totally overblown. The media likes to feed the perception that Philly fans hate their stars and drive them out of town. I don't think this was the case here at all. ESPN is buzzing big time over this. |
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
Check his numbers he hasn't missed significant time in a season since 2006.
Missed 2 games in 09 Missed 2 games in 07 Missed 6 games in 06 Missed 7 games in 05 17 games in 5 Years? That's not a healthy QB. Gotta figure in the time he was attempting to play through injuries like his rib/abdominal issues. Many of these years he was playing behind a FAR better line than what we can offer here. Still not thinking he's worth a HIGH 2nd and a 3rd/4th. Sorry. |
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
This has backfire written all over it. Stupid move.

if I had read this before I made my similar post I would've just simply said that I agreed |
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
I must say this is very reminiscent of a Snyder move. Giving up a high draft pick for a big name vet past his prime.
McNabb notoriously underthrows receivers and can't create with his feet anymore. In fact I'd argue that JC is more mobile that DM right now. Unless that line gets a ton better, we've come nowhere with this. I wonder what all the lovers would be saying if it was Cerrato who made this same move? I'm still undecided, but I'm leaning towards not really liking this, especially since we'll probably give him a lucrative extension as well. With this move, I now forsee at least a few current players traded before the draft. |
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
I am seriously hoping a second shoe drops that makes this trade more palatable. I feel like McNabb in the SB :vomit:
|
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
I love how there is always haters no matter what the Skins do. I love this move. Now we draft Okung and hopefully get a 3rd or 4th rounder for Campbell. Thank you Easter Bunny

I'd rather think of it as a "wait and see." When we see the finalized details of the deal, and see what we do with JC, then I think we'll be in a better spot to evaluate it. |

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
no matter what we now know the o-line will be addressed early in the draft. either at the 4th pick or with picks we acquire through Campbell trade/moving down. Shanallen have been setting us up to solve the o-line problems (LJ, Willie, Mcnabb) and now we can rest assure something will be done.
