I don't know why the Cards didn't just give up a 3rd and get Orton. A solid QB who can work in a variety of systems. Guess I am just not sold on the fact that Kolb is "all that".

Wow the Cards are over paying like no other. DRC should have been more than enough...hell the eagles should have sent Kolb and a 2nd for him!
Orton to Mia?
Yup, I've heard that. Just not sue why the Cards prefer Kolb to Orton. Orton is a proven commodity, Kolb not so much. Kolb had some good games but he also had some really crappy one too. Not sure I would bet the ranch on that when I could have had a competent, (relatively) young, proven starter in Orton for much cheaper price both from a trade compensation and salary point of view.

Cards are gettin' raped. Kolb should be worth a 2nd, or DRC. No way he's worth both. It'll be interesting to see how he plays in Arizona, if he fails, then this'll go down as one of the biggest coups since Roy Williams went to Dallas.

Re: 2011 NFL Free Agency-Part 2

In terms of AZ, they may see overpaying as increasing odds on two counts: Getting your targeted QB and keeping your franchise WR beyond this season.

New reports saying that $30 million may have been an exaggerated number. Not sure though. Base contract will average to about $10 million a year, supposedly

That's as bad as a rookie who gets drafted in the first round and has never seen an NFL field. Has Kolb really been productive enough in the few games he's started to warrant that?

Sounds like the Cardinals just got butt f&@%ed by the Walrus.

Clayton just said around $12M/yr. That's crazy for a guy who's started a grand total of 7 games in the NFL.

Well I'm sure Brandon Marshall is happy. Last time he and Orton were together he caught 100+ passes. If Miami manages to get the Reggie Bush trade completed they're going to surprise a lot of teams this year.

Jay Glazer reporting the Saints and Dolphins are talking a Reggie Bush trade. Contingent on Bush agreeing to take a pay cut and also agreeing to the trade.

Good move for Miami after DeAngelo stayed in Carolina and Bradshaw priced himself out of a deal.

so stokley, gaffney, s moss, stallworth... and maybe edwards still?

stallworth is 100/game for the 6 games he'll be healthy ;) gaffney is a nice #4, stokley is done i believe, moss is fine and that's a good price for us. at least we're not throwing a lot of money at WR though we've still improved depth. and with AA and hankerson we should be fine.

still waiting on jenkins and someone on the OL though. wilson is a good pickup at CB, but i think rogers is better.

Reggie Bush will be going to IR alot sooner than usuall in Miami's style of play, also in that division. Good luck with that Reggie

Brandon Stokely is out per Grant Paulson. Not coming to Washington, they signed too many receivers per his agent.

These threads are making my head spin.

This guy is 340 lbs and one of the "less mobile" tackles in the league, no thanks. I'll take him as a NT though.

despite his terrible hands, his zone coverage and tackling are fine. he's not a world beater and he's not trash... he's somewhere in between, but i don't think wilson is an upgrade from what i saw of him last year.

Re: 2011 NFL Free Agency-Part 2

Wilson graded out much higher than CR last year, of course it's tough to compare them directly because there are so many other factors involved. I just think CR is too inconsistent, and his inability to make plays (INTs) is well known. Time to move on.

I'm also hoping Barnes is ready to step up.
A lot of football people would disagree with you. Just saying.
I'm not one of them. I think Josh Wilson has a real chance to develop into an above average NFL corner (people who said he had a great year in 2010 are on the money), but Rogers was already there: where people who are in the know think Wilson can be.

Yeah. But would you break the bank for Rogers? He is looking for a big payday. So if you had to chose which would pick: Big pay day for Rogers or what we paid for Wilson?

I've just take exception to the vocal minority asserting he's already an upgrade on Rogers. Misses the point.

Re: 2011 NFL Free Agency-Part 2

If Rogers caught at least half of the INTs he's dropped each year, he'd be considered one of the best, but sadly he can't catch a cold. I like the addition of Josh Wilson and we can let the market set a price on Rogers. Perhaps Rogers finds out that he has much less demand than he previously thought and wants to come back at a reasonable rate. That I would be fine with, but he's not good enough for #1 money.

As for Wilson, I like him and think he'll be fine. He won't be great though and he'll struggle with bigger receivers but he can also return punts which makes him valuable as well.

Gotcha. Point taken and I agree that Los was an above average corner. Could have been a regular pro-bowler corner had he held onto half the ball that hit him in the hands.

GTripp0012 07-28-2011 10:46 AM

Re: 2011 NFL Free Agency-Part 2
If Wilson picks up where he left off last year, is he an upgrade?
Uh, probably. Thing is, he would have needed to re-sign in Baltimore to do that.

I'm interested to grade him side by side against Hall, a known commodity at this point. Wilson does seem like a good fit for this scheme, whatever that is worth.
