Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
Off topic but funny,
A co-worker returned to work today after having traveled to Houston for a business venture. He's an Eagles fan and missed the Eagles 1pm game but had gone out with a female friend both wearing their Eagles jerseys to a local bar to watch the Dallas game. He said they got ribbed upon entering the bar. He said for the first two quarters all you heard was "Romo is the bomb", "Romo this and Romo that", "Dallas is back and going to the SB." Then during the 3rd quarter the bar was as quiet as a church. He said he turned and asked as loud as he could "where did the fans go?" lol. Then in the 4th quarter Romo had his melt down and he couldn't stop laughing cause all the fans were saying "Fire the HC", "Fire Romo". Then the game ended. He and his friend yelled the Eagles chant E-A-G-L-E-S, Eagles.... and everyone told them to get the "F" out of the bar. He said it was the best time he's had in a long time. |

Go easy now. |
I don't like that the skins are 4 point favorites. That makes me a little uneasy.

Home team gets 3 points anyway...so look it more like a 1 point/even. The line will change again tomorrow and Sunday. |
Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
Man, I hope Orakpo can play...
"Grant Paulsen Mike Shanahan: Both Brian Orakpo and LaRon Landry will be listed as questionable for Sunday. Both were limited in today's practice." |
Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
yeah i think orakpo will play, landry is much more of a long shot. im thinking we save laRon for the cowboys under the lights on monday night when we are 2-0!!

Fox? although Fox is listed as having back issues. |

Yeah I think Orakpo will suck it up and play. I'd give Landry more time also. Maybe even hold him for the second half of the season instead of rushing him and having him sitting again for several weeks. The only change I might think about is possibly putting someone at FS who has speed even if it meant using a CB only cause we need someone who can run from sideline to sideline and someone who can be the last man in case Fitz runs past the CB covering him. |

Probably rotate LB's if RAK is limited , Alexander on run downs , R. Jackson on passing downs ( Jackson can rush the passer ) . Im sure RAK plays , maybe LL gets in on some packages too . |

Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
Ugh -- why do I have a bad feeling about this game? Could it be it's because these are the games we've been finding ways to lose? Is it because they resemble teams that have come up to bite us like the Texans from last year, the Rams from 2008, or the Lions from the last two seasons?
This game is probably bigger than anybody thinks ... First of all, it's a classic letdown game: It follows a big win against a division rival, and it comes before a Monday night showdown against a division rival. If we lose it, the win against the Giants takes us down a notch. But if we win, I think it will signify the mark of a truly good team -- coming back after a big victory to take care of business against someone you should have no trouble with. In recent years, we've been taken down under exactly this scenario. This is another huge test. All I'll say is, our secondary better be on their game. |

These aren't the same old Skins.

It's one game. Lets see what we look like after these first four games, before we can say we're not the same old skins. Who knows, the Giants could be one of the worst teams in the league this year, don't get too optimistic too quick. |
Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
The entire aura of this team just feels so different. I am very optimistic about how the team looks, and also, do not discount the win against the Giants. Any W that you can get in this division is nothing to sneeze at, no matter how you slice it. I say if this team handles their business and beats the cards, then we are looking at a playoff caliber team. Its been a long time since Ive been this optimistic, even more optimistic than I was when we started 6-2 the other year.
Like I said, the attitude and the entire "mojo" this team has is getting me excited, not to mention the work ethic and all the young talent, which is everything that DC is unaccustomed to, but everything this franchise needs. |
Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
I seem to recall the Skins going 6-2 two years back and everyone saying we'd arrived, that Zorn was the coach of the future and JC was finally showing his potential.
I don't want to be a downer -- but as has been said, let's wait before we say stuff like 'we are going to trash the cardinals'. Fitzgerald is among the best, if not the best, WR in the league and Kolb has a lot of talent. These Cardinals are no pushovers. |

Nothing wrong with being optimistic. This team feels different. |
Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
Dorothy, we're not in Vinny land any more.
|
Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
This team needs to have a colossal brain fart in order to lose to the Cardinals, i.e the O-line completely disappears and can't block a damn, or Rex forgets all of the plays.
|
Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
We just need to win the games we are suppose to win if we wanna be considered a good football team..

We need to run much better than we did vs NY ( 13 of Hightowers 25 carries either gained zero yds or lost yards ) , we need to keep AZ's offence on the bench , and build a nice lead . |
Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
Main difference is this team has a great coaching staff from top to bottom.. It's been a while since that has happened

This. Landry shouldn't come back until he's completely 100%. Orakpo did manage to play all last week after he sustained the injury, but if he's not 100% I wouldn't want to risk further injury by making him play. If he doesn't play someone's going to have to step up. |

yeah it kinda sucks. Im sure when the Cardinals look at film and see Reed playing twenty yards off the line they draw a big f*cking circle around him. People keep talking about "hey it was only two plays Reed effed up", well it was one touchdown play and another huge play which lead directly to another touchdown. These werent shoulder shrug plays, they were pivitol. Hearing Landry is not out yet gives me some hope. |

“I just think I’m in a real good spot right now from my experience level and the offense that I’m in and personnel around me,” Grossman said. “I feel good about it. I’m going to make mistakes. Mistakes happen. But to be a quarterback and not be confused and not trying to, ‘What do I do now?’ — that’s when bad things happen. I don’t feel that very much.” |

Re: Skins vs Cardinals pre-game thread
We should win , according to the Redskins website , AZ will play defense with ten men , not 11 . Also have the Cards roster listed as " Giants " :)Redskins-Cardinals GameDay Preview

Playing with 10 men is not a penalty. |
