I thought early on in season 1 they said contact with their blood could infect you? I mean it only make sense that contact with their blood could transmit the virus, but I try to not get too hung up on all the details. It's just a TV show after all.
Also, apparently this Governor becomes Rick's main antagonist next season, which has been Shane's role of late. So I think either Shane bites the bullet, or Rick and Shane become a formidable team against the Governor.

Have I mentioned I love this show?? I think when it's all said and done, I'll then go back and read the graphic novels.
Last week I thought a final showdown with Rick and Shane was definitely going to happen, now not so much. I think Shane comes around and teams up with Rick again. I think you're right, a new antagonist will come along.

Why did he bring up Maggie? I forgot if he saw Herschel or was that just random when he said that?

Yeah how did that not come up before? Did Maggie not see him at the farm? Definitely odd.

Well remember when he first told Rick and Shane that he went to school with her, he said they weren't friends, he just knew who she was. Their concern of course was that they couldn't leave him behind now on the chance he gets back to his camp and knows how to get to her farm since he's a local guy.

Yeah good point. I dunno. Maybe the kid latched on to the group when they came to town, and maybe they let him because he knows the lay of the land? I dunno...

They still have to deal with Dale zombie, but he was not actually bite though he got a lot of exposure. I bet he doesn't turn.

As annoying as he was sometimes I was kinda bummed to see Dale go.

Can people stop wondering off on their own already?

I am surprised they offed him becasue he was kind of the voice of reason. There is no one else in the group like Dale at least like his mind set.

re: The Walking Dead thread (spoiler alert, read at your own risk)

I got this from another site some other person posted these thoughts; I thought they were well thought out:

i agree with the above statement (zombies in camo!)... dale's death seemed a little too sudden - he was by far the most careful and watchful/ observant person in the clan... and he had a gun and got ambushed?! he also was the "bleeding heart" of the group which is very important in terms of offering other perspectives... i think only rick has the ability/ capability to reason and take into consideration dales path of logic. Dale stood for order (they all or most do chores which dale enforced- communal actions) that commands a parental/ cautious personality which, now vacant - leaves a large hole which will get filled with rage, personal vendettas and selfish actions to either take power or save your own skin type of deal. Dale was cooky but meant well in all facets of the old world and new world - he tried his best to bridge the two and not forget where we as humans came from... Even though he did not want to do what must be done- like kill the prisoner; he was always looking for alternative answers, getting people to talk in round table fashion and construct a democratic decision. Strength in numbers! I hope the group does not disband... rick is the only glue left to keep them as one.

the farmer/ doctor who owns the farm seems to lean towards death even though he is the one that preserves it... i feel as though his siding with rick is weak in bond but he may perhaps prevail as the new dale. I really see him turn inwards when he says this is my farm/ you can or can not sleep in the house, etc... he is the old, wise one now and he knows they all need him for his skill... i dunno - he still seems cold to me.

since walkers have found the farm, they are going to have to make travel plans.

water is a key element that seems to be unexplored... not too much water in GA per say BUT i could see an island or floating city happen but they are going to run out of supplies and head back into the city where merl will be waiting... the country/ farm is getting overrun and the zombies need food.

That's always something that makes me wonder too. Zombies aren't exactly the most quiet things in the world. How are people ambushed by them?

re: The Walking Dead thread (spoiler alert, read at your own risk)

I keep wondering why no one is building a wall around the property. seems like a no brainer to me... and to Matty's point, wtf are you doing wandering off alone? Zombie apocalypse and you get so transfixed by a dead cow that you can't hear a walker coming up behind you?

Apparently they can rip open a human chest but they can't get their feet out of the mud, or push open doors when someone is blocking it, etc.

pretty much. I've caught myself many times saying "rick is covered in zombie blood, around his mouth, eyes and nose, yet he's not infected?" Then i remind myself to shut up and enjoy the show. Still, those things are getting pretty hard to ignore...

Obviously, I mean the show is about zombies, based on a comic book.

Still, it's fun to pick on the flaws.

Oh I totally agree and you are right it is fun to pick out the flaws.

If you like doing that a little fun game I play from time to time is go to IMDb pick a film then select "Goofs". It will list all the mistakes in a film. I will go back in the film and watch them kind of funny especially if you are watching a old time favorite movie of yours.

Example:

Jaws (1975) - Goofs - IMDb

My wife and I were wondering the same thing, but then I was thinking, "Ya know? If I really wanted to rip into someone's stomach, I bet I could do it using all my strength."

And good afternoon sir.

Maybe I'm being a total tool, but I do subscribe to Max Brooks' description of zombies.

Basically they're not weaker or stronger than normal people, they just never get tired. If they were strong in real life, they'd be strong as a zombie.

I wish I knew how to do spoiler text where it has to be highlighted to be read even though I think we are safe in this thread with people knowing we are gonna talk about the newest episodes. If not can a mod modify the title to include the warning of SPOILERS? Thanks

All I know about that episode is the books did that scene so much better because it leads into building certain key character aspects of Rick and Carl. This scene is so key for later in this series and I just hope next season with the Govenor makes up for some of these drastic changes. It's really hard to talk about how many different things this one scene leads to in the novels without spoiling anything for potential future story lines so I won't, even though it looks like I won't have to worry about that with how this season has gone haha.

Did we read the same book because I clearly remember Carl killing Shane in the book. And was like in chapter two. Shane has a small role in the books.

Yes but with no involvement of Rick. In the books Shane has Rick dead to rights in his scopes while they are out hunting and Carl comes upon this and shoots him dead. Yeah in the books Shane is barely a blip on the radar of the story line, except with how this effects Carl down the line. How far are you into the books?

RAGE. I want to talk about this, but don't want to spoil it for anyone.

I've since read up on the zombie rules which explains how what happened....happened. I've been into the whole zombie thing previously, so i'm out of my depth.
