Just glad to have them both. Not sure why it has to be a competition.
Kerrackpo + DJ Gomes + Hall + Wilson + Otogwe + Coefield + Weild + Bowen + Jenkins = STRONG DEFENSE IN 2012 ..WE JUST NEED OFFENSE TO CATCH UP, SIMPLY PUT A FRANCHISE QB
I would erase Hall from your list cause he SUCKS and add OL depth cause they need it badly. |

its not a competition. i personally am noting that orakpo doesnt get consistent pressure whatsoever when he is supposed to be a top of the line olb in the nfl. hes not. kerrigan is better than him. he gets more pressure, he makes more plays. orakpo hasnt made a play in weeks. |

Well it should be noted that Orakpo's presence helps make life easier for Kerrigan... and Kerrigan often doesn't have to go against the best offensive lineman for that team. Take Rak out of the equation and put Kerrigan on his side, and I don't think we'd be seeing the same production. |

Take Rak out of the equation and put Kerrigan on his side, and I don't think we'd be seeing the same production.
That's exactly what I would like to see Haslett try. Perhaps the combined result would be better if they switched sides. I'm alarmed that Rak becomes a non-factor against great left tackles. |
Re: Your thoughts of the possibility of Kerrigan "surpassing" Orakpo
Until Orakpo learns to develop other moves, he's going to be a one trick pony who's a liability in pass coverage and run defense. He needs to step it up big time. He didn't have a single QB hit today. It's not that he didn't even get a sack, it's he didn't even get a sniff at the QB. He was being handled all day long by Free. I've said that I think Kerrigan is going to be head and shoulders above Orakpo when it's all said and done.

Kerrigan is a stud.
Orakpo is not living up to his fan created reputation. I'll take Kerrigan. |

This. I think Kerrigan has played better than Orakpo so far, but you can't deny the impact both of them have on each other and our oppoenents. Remember the days when Orakpo would get shut down and we'd be bitching about how Andre Carter/Zo weren't doing anything on the other side? Nowadays when Orakpo is quiet we get to see Kerrigan beasting it up on the other side. And yes Orakpo plays a big part in that. By taking on the LT he leaves Kerrigan free to take on the RT who usually is not as good as the LT, unless we're playing a left handed qb in which case the RT is usually better than the LT. So we need to be happy we have both, because if one of them gets shut down (usually Orakpo) it's opening up opportunities on the other side that we know Kerrigan can take advantage of. I hope we have both of them for years. |
Re: Your thoughts of the possibility of Kerrigan "surpassing" Orakpo
Orakpo and Kerrigan are to the Redskins what Dexter Manley and Charles Mann were back in the days. They are two legitimate pass rushers who have the potential for greatness. I don't think there are another LB tandem in the NFL who are better than those two.

theres about a handful, sadly..

Re: Your thoughts of the possibility of Kerrigan "surpassing" Orakpo
I think our LB core is the strongest of anything else on this team right now.. Riley, Orackpo, Kerrigan, and Fletcher have all played really well, and 3 of them are hitting their prime.. I have a good feeling about this defense in the upcoming years.

Re: Your thoughts of the possibility of Kerrigan "surpassing" Orakpo
I understand the point about Rak going up against each teams best OT, but even the best OT can only block so long against a great pass rusher. And if it's a truly great pass rusher teams will double or chip him & the QB will be aware of him at all times. Its safe to say neither of our guys is a great pass rusher at this point, cause they don't make the offense adjust to them, its simply 1 on 1 blocking.
Both Rak & Kerrigan have been getting coverage sacks this year, which is great when it happens. When it doesn't it's a disaster like yesterday, Romo had time to scope the field, then decide to get out of the pocket w/out any immediate pressure. You can blame Hall & the DBs all day for completions, but they covered really well on several 3rd downs that ended up being converted cause Romo extended the play. |

exactly, the one position where we are set and havent really been affected negatively by injuries other than rocky, and the fans want to skew orakpo cause he isnt producing enough. The guy is still in his 3rd year. If you want to bitch at him about something, then bitch about those god awful geico commercials that should have never been released to the public. |

Riley shows promise, but he's in no way hitting his prime. In my opinion. |
Re: Your thoughts of the possibility of Kerrigan "surpassing" Orakpo
Romo should have been sacked more times than he was. Kerrigan managed to get to him. Orakpo had a solid rush. Although Brian Orakpo didn't get a sack on Romo, and although Kerrigan did and now has one more sack this season than Orakpo, I still predict Orakpo to end up with the most sacks between the two by the end of the season.

So...in all of this, Lorenzo Alexander has become pretty irrelevant hasn't he?

They should go back and use him as a backup G, he still contributes on ST. I say keep him. |

I was thinkin the same thing yesterday. Saw him on the ko coverage team & that's the first I've noticed him in weeks. He gets no reps at Kerrigan's spot. |
