I thought you would like that. |
Re: RGIII declares for NFL draft
Awwwe can we bring Landry44 back and give him his own thread but limit him only to that specific thread?... he was funny.
Anywho, something about RG3 is very forgettable. A year or two down the road i could see him being swept under the rug. Talented no doubt, but franchise QB? i don't know. I like Barkley over him. Is it because I live in LA & have seen him play live? possibly...... probably. |

easily, especially if RG3 changes his mind and stays in school. to me there are only 2 true 1st round qbs, luck and RG3. no one else deserves to be in the 1st, but we may see tannehill go early on just like ponder this past season, just because... barkley, jones, pachall (maybe), murray (maybe), tyler wilson (maybe), just to name a few. there could easily some breakout qbs next year. |

That'll go over just great with the fan base. In addition, there's no guarantee that we'll be picking in the top 10 in 2013. I can't believe that I find myself wishing that Shanny had given Jason Campbell a chance when he first arrived. He certainly couldn't have been any worse than Grossman. |

Re: RGIII declares for NFL draft
So now RGIII is not declaring or still deciding? WTF?
I think if he stays or comes out this year it really makes no difference to the skins, I don't see him on their list at all. |

Bingo. And we would have had that second round pick to do something with... ahhh, what could have been. |

Re: RGIII declares for NFL draft
Cleveland will take him if we can't trade up with STL imo, but anything can happen
|
Re: RGIII declares for NFL draft
My prediction (I guess its an either/or prediction) is that we either trade up to draft RGIII or trade back a few slots (before Seattle at 12) and draft Tannehill.
I do not want to trade up, it was so nice last year having a full arsenal of picks and then some. I'd rather stay put and if RGIII falls to # 6 you run up to the podium as fast as possible, as I run to the fridge as fast as possible and start pounding beers in celebration. Or if not trade back and pick up extra picks. Then draft Kirk Cousins in the 2nd round. I don't know why but I have a good feeling about Cousins. He is a natural leader and has good arm strength. p.s. - on a side note, I am very surprised to see the number of negative posts about RGIII, the kid was a monster this season, and is a winner with all the leader characteristics you can ask for. His deep balls alone, make him worth a top 5 pick. |

Pro QB's also don't throw for 5,000 yards. Those are college numbers anyway.
I like the humor but you're not suggesting that Brees and RG# played in a similar offense in college..are you?? |
Re: RGIII declares for NFL draft
I hope we draft him, but he's going to be long gone by the 6th pick... and I don't want to give up the farm to get him.

Re: RGIII declares for NFL draft
Great, he's declared. Go get him Shanahan, Allena and Snyder!
When you have a potential franchise QB staring you in the face, you don't shy away from it. Yes it will probably cost us this year's 1st, 2nd, (and maybe 4th) and next year's 1st, but oh well. The Giants traded more than that for Eli Manning and I doubt they care given what he has done for them. After the McNabb fiasco and the disaster that was last year with Grossman and Beck, Shanahan and this organization can not afford to whiff on this position any longer. Also, the Skins have an extra 4th rounder that they got from the Raiders anyway. So *if* we have to give up one, we would still have another 4th rounder. With all of the wide receivers that will be available in FA (Colston, Bowe, Meachem, Vincent Jackson, Desean Jackson, Stevie Johnson), the Skins could very easily find their #1 in one of them and Shanahan has already shown that he can find talent deep in the draft. Giving up a few picks for a potential franchise QB is not going to kill this organization or set us back - certainly not more than the merry-go-round of awful to mediocre QB play has. |

Our only hope falls on whether they want RGIII or not. If they do, we are ****ed. They are currently sitting on 2 first round picks this year. |

Ehhh, I seriously doubt that the Browns will trade away picks to get a QB. Not Holmgren's style and goes against everything he's said in recent weeks about how difficult it is to try to build a team without having a good level of support around the QB in multiple positions. QB is the least of the Brown's issues and I think he knows this (at least enough to not want to get in a bidding war with the Redskins when he doesn't have a #1 WR, wont' have a #1 RB, his most productive TE will be a FA, and no offensive line). |

If you don't have a viable QB it's always the most important issue. |

Good. Just remember to make up something about how you're worthless if you don't win a national championship and how architecture firms want candidates to take a bunch of classes that he's never taken like movement and equestrian. |

Their center Alex Mack is probably one of the best in the NFL. Their OL isn't all that bad. |
Dan Marino did. Its not about numbers it about style. Brees is a passer who can elude pressure and extend plays. RGIII is another version of Michael Vick (a runner who is an ok passer) and that doesnt win Super Bowls. Sure RGIII threw for a bunch of yards but in college WRs are open by yards and in the pros its inches so college numbers are often misleading. I'm just not sure about RGIII's accuracy.
The reason Mike Vick doesn't win SuperBowls isn't his style of playing, it's that he doesn't have the clutch gene and doesn't lead. If his style is good enough to win games( he has) completely dominate teams( he has) get to playoffs ( he has) get to superbowl (he has) then its good enough to win one. He hasn't because he's a bum. Maybe RG3 has that clutch/big game mentality. |
This team just needs a shot of excitement at the QB position. Run for it, pass, I don't care at this point, just not the same boring ass vanilla qb play we've had for 15 years. Plus, our receivers are ancient, we're gonna need someone that can run around a little bit and extend plays.

When did he play in a super bowl? Also this may come as a surprise but the QB is not the only cog in how a team performs. |
Re: RGIII declares for NFL draft
If you don't have a viable QB it's always the most important issue.
How many teams don't have a viable quarterback though? I mean, the Raiders lost theirs and acquired another one two days later.
When we talk teams without viable QBs, we're essentially talking about the Redskins, Dolphins, and a big group of maybes: maybe the Seahawks (ignoring that Tarvaris Jackson was pretty well managed this year), maybe the Jets, maybe the Rams, maybe the Jaguars, maybe the Cardinals, maybe the Vikings. Everyone else in the league has someone they can count on. And even the teams that don't necessarily have that need solves (like the Rams) ARE already counting on somebody. The common thread in the teams that are looking for QBs is that their offenses struggled this past season. Which as far as I'm concerned, flies right in the face of the QB always being the most important issue. For most the teams on the list (5/8), it's not that they haven't drafted a quarterback, it's that their drafted QB has had uneven production. The Redskins and Seahawks are pretty much alone in not having a homegrown QB on their roster. It's not an issue for 30/32 teams. |
When did he play in a super bowl?
Also this may come as a surprise but the QB is not the only cog in how a team performs.
My bad, I was thinking Conference championship. But yes, your point also, the other 21 guys have a fairly large amount to do with it. |

Interesting scouting report on RGIII. He looks like a winner.
