Well, the same rumors I've heard from insiders have been the same for months. 1) We were interested in signing PM should he become available, but it would also include a rookie QB (most like developmental....tannehill/noles/etc) as well. 2) We are not interested in Flynn. 3) We were interested in RGIII and Luck as top prospects. (pretty much everything that Haslett said) The great thing is we have many options this year, which a far cry from what we've had available the past two years due to restricted FA and the lockout. |

LOL. Place wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for all the idiots there. I like to compare ES to that of a low key venue you loved to visit back in the day. That is, until it became popular and the overcrowding turned it into a shithole. You can find good posts/threads there, but the crap you have to wade through these days is sometimes unbearable. I salute you for standing it that long...lol |

Don't forget about Chase NC.

I'm going to pretend like I'm not even hearing any Chase Daniel rumors.

Re: QB Apocalypse: The Seventh Sign
Alright smoot and tailgate, what have you heard about what we plan on doing in terms of building our team, if/when we get manning? (i.e. do we sign Reggie Wayne, bring in Tom moore, get an OT in the draft?)
|
Re: QB Apocalypse: The Seventh Sign
To be fair, the Redskins have been bad in recent years with FA's, but I think that was more thanks to the simple mind of Cerrato. Granted the McNabb expierement didn't work out, but they set the contract up perfectly to save themselves (which is what I'd expect they'd do with Peyton).
I think it's worth the gamble, assuming he is 100% healthy and passes all test. Peyton 50% is better than Grossman and Beck, but if he's 100% and some upgrades to the O line, could definitely sneak in the playoffs.
Welcome to the board, and I think you will enjoy this site a little more than ES. We have alot of good guys on this forum, and some very educated football fans. Honestly, if we can get a healthy PM, Ben Grubbs, Eddie Royal, a CB, and a playmaking WR in FA. Add to that a solid draft. I would find it hard to believe that we would sneak in, we would be damn good and could win our division. Do you know people working in the Skins admin offices? Not MS, KS, and BA, but the guys who have been in the building for a few years? Sorry don't mean to dig too deep just wanted a little clarification before we start buying our jerseys:) |

I reckon Manning (in a southern gentleman-like voice) will likely demand almost total security to play under center. Upgrades along the offensive line are a must, most conspicuously at right tackle. And at minimum one legit big-threat at WR. A WR at 6 may not suffice? But draft a WR and sign, say, Marques Colston and the offensive roster is basically ready for the playoffs. |

Hey Smoot - Did this meeting actually go down? I ask because of the CBS report from yesterday that it would occur the next couple of days. coltsinsider Dan Graham #Colts I am told meeting confirmed for this evening at Irsay's house in Carmel. Grigson is not included coltsinsider Dan Graham @ @french_sebo I highly doubt that anything is formally announced until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest. But we all know what's coming |

I was told last night they had been meeting.

You are right, we probably would take the division to be honest, but I didn't want to jump the gun too much and get my hopes up. Yeah, it's something along that line, but definitely not BA, MS or KS. |

I thought they weren't going to because Jordan Shipley couldn't make it.... But seriously, did they actually meet? Last I heard they were going to, but then I went to watch Lin and the Knicks embarrass the Wizards so I didn't ever follow up |

I really don't want to spill all the beans, but I do believe the Redskins have no interest in Wayne. Maybe if he takes some low-ball contract, but otherwise I doubt he'll be here if Peyton comes. There's a list of others, as the talks get heated up more with them, I'll post it up. I know we have a couple linemen, WR's and QB's (backups) in FA we're looking at. |

I would assume they're both close for the most part, you might have a little more, I might, but I'm sure we're both in the same ballpark.

Re: QB Apocalypse: The Seventh Sign
so whats the definative answer - can manning sign with a team before the start of free agency if he's released?

Yes. It'll be the same as Atogwe last year. He should be able to sign with a club immediately upon getting cut. |
Re: QB Apocalypse: The Seventh Sign
Here's the next question really once PM is release.
When do you sign him? The main thing right now is the nerve regeneration and his throwing strength. You can't have draft plan thinking you'll sign him after the draft and because he could decide to go elsewhere, leaving you stranded. So do you sign him prior to the draft even knowing his nerves haven't regenerated yet? I understand it'll be a incentive laden deal, but even so, it's still risky. So do you just roll into the draft without Peyton in your plans, and then sign him in May/June? I'm glad I'm not having to make this decision. |

Secondly your gunna want to get him on some form of rehab schedule. Hopefully it's Vet min. with a ton of incentives but it has been mentioned here before that he probably won't accept that. I'd imagine some decent contract that has an out if he can not start come Sept. |
