I think allowing Fletch to be a bigger part of the game plan has helped. I don't know but it looks like Haz is now coaching/behaving with less insecurity. I don't mean job security necessarily. I mean more like he's willing to listen other coaches/players without feeling it's a knock on his ego. As I understood it anyway, the tension was more on the offensive side. But you'd have to ask HTTR247 for his own perspective
ahh ... thanks. Maybe I am either (1) remembering it wrong; or (2) something got lost in the translation. I imagine that, when dealing with talented subordinates, the difference between "I know what I am supposed to be doing - just do what I say" and "Tell me how can we improve?" is a fine line for a coach to walk, like in any management position - but even more so in the hyper-competitive, testosterone driven arena that is pro-football. |

I clearly remember the phrase, "Haslett has lost the locker room" being bandied about. It would appear that he has regained the locker room by setting his ego aside. If so, that's good leadership. |
Can you explain?
Griffin was frustrated they were throttling the offense down, and felt they didn't trust him enough yet to open it up. He also didn't like the option plays and wanted more of the basic offense. Not speaking on Smoot's behalf, just paraphrasing the info that HTTR24/7 stated back then. |

Re: Seahawks Redskins Rookie Showdown
As a longtime Redskins fan, I feel kind of slighted due to the fact that the so-called experts are picking Seattle to beat the Redskins @ Fed Ex Field. I just got through reading a prediction from the Bleacher reports stating that RG3 will throw 2 INTs, Russel Wilson will throw for 3 TDs, and Marshawn Lynch will rush for 125 Yards against our defense.
None of these so-called experts didn't mention the facts. The facts are Washington was 5-3 @ home during the regular season and Seattle was 3-5 on the road this past season. Just about all of the losses by both teams have been by less than a touchdown. This is will be a very close game regardless which was it goes. Of course I'm picking Washington at home by 7 points. |

First off I don't like these dirty birds one bit. I hate their coach. I hate their uniforms. I hate their stupid stadium and their stupid fans. 12th man my ass. More like Paul Allen and his George Lucas dolby-digital-piped-in noise.
Secondly we owe these f*^&*&rs. 2005 Carlos drops a pick-6 which would have put us up 10-0. 2007 Suisham misses the field goal that killed all our momentum. It's payback time. Keys to the game: 1. Stop or at least contain Lynch - obviously we can't let this guy run wild on us. 2. Keep Wilson in the pocket - this is huge. He's not tall and we have good pass tippers like Cofield and Kerrigan. Make him beat us from the pocket. If we let him roll out and run around he will torch our secondary. 3. Keep on Haz-ing and scheming. Let the kid see a different look every down. 4. Keep pounding the rock with Alfie. They might cheat to stop the run but we can't get away from it. Keep pounding. 5. Time to unleash RG3. We need all aspects of his game. RG will not want this Wilson kid coming in and showing him up. I expect RG to play with a chip on his shoulder. Let him loose. 6. Despite the D's success the last few weeks let's remember - WE ARE AN OFFENSIVE TEAM. We must win this game with offense. I almost threw up when we gave the ball back to Romo at 21-18. Had we blown it I would not have blamed the defense. If we keep playing with fire we will get burnt. GO SKINS! |

I haven't seen this discussed yet, but supposedly back in 07 after ST was killed and we played seattle in the playoffs Seahawk fans were laughing about him being dead and some seahawk fan held up a ST jersey with blood and bullet holes all over it...
Yeah, F this team. I thought better of their fans |

But I looked at the Seahawks games vs. the games the Redksins played and the Seahawks were win one against their division lose one against their division, they lost games they should have won and possibly won games they should have lost. Their games don't show that they were battle tested. To me the Redskins had some pretty good teams they played, minus the Eagles twice out of 7 games 5 were difficult teams we played at the end stretch when the team had to win, and lastly the Redskins had more games where the scores were at or close to 30+ or more in the games. The Seahawks seemed to squeak too many games by less then 7 points and the scores were in the teens or low 20's. Their own HC said they run a pro style offense but started incorporating the option mid season and added a little more each week, but said the Redskins perfected it from the start and run mostly the option. I think we give the Seahawks fits this weekend and the crowd makes it difficult for them. Redskins: 31 Seahawks: 28 |

I don't know what Russell Wilsons stats are in terms of batted passes, but I remember SI saying during the draft that Russell only had 4 batted passes in 1 year (Luck and Griffin had more and Tannehill I remember had 17 batted down his SR year) EDIT Russell has only 5 this year. Luck who is 5 inches taller than Wilson has 15 batted balls this year; leading the league.. By the way, this is really incredible when you think about it -- 11 of 17 weeks the Redskins (3 different players) had the Rookie of the Week. Whodathunk at the beginning of the year that Andrew "Can't Miss" Luck would not be a finalist for ROY - but Morris and Wilson would. The NFL is a fickle bit&h.

Isn't the official ROY from the AP?
|
Re: Seahawks Redskins Rookie Showdown
Yeah did some research (wiki) and the AP hands out the NFL official ROY awards, but they also recognize the Pepsi ROY. The Pepsi award is not determined to be offense or defensive it is an all encompassing award.

I dont think bulletin board material is even necessary against a piss poor road team who is 0-8 in road playoff games for a reason. What a great team to play in your own house. Three words: no ****ing shot.

The two teams are very evenly matched talent/roster wise. Coaching and hopefully home field advantage will win or lose this game. PC knows it. MS knows it. PC is actually more arrogant than MS. Wow. OK, Robert, we'll take you up on that. Hey, Redskins Pro Bowl left tackle Trent Williams, why is your guy better than theirs? I can't wait for the Skins to shock the world!
I agree with this, but what is really weird is as they talk about Seattle, I am usually thinking ok but the Skins do that too. For example, Adam Schein yesterday was listing his reasons for Seattle and it was something like this:
qb who is mature and protects the ball. great running back creative headcoach team on a hot streak
and I kept thinking so when are you going to saay something that describes only Seattle. I think the numbers favor Seattle slightly, but they are skewed by a few games and Seattles homefield advantage. I think our strengths, varied run options, a good midrange passing game- primarily playaction, actually matchup very favorably against what the seahawks are built to stop. This game may come down to the wire but I will be seriously stunned if the seahawks beat us. |
