Yes, AT WIDE RECEIVER.

I don't see us signing jammer or Lynch after last weekend.

I could see us signing Lynch. Im still wondering what the decision with T Jax.

Smoot said he was still in the mix right after he came back from his sabbatical...or was that a walkabout...anyways FS is still a decision that will need to be made before the coming season.
I did it simply because I think starting Amerson will be better for the team, especially in the long term. We need to develop this kid and see what he can do.

He's on 21 years old, by the way.

If he falters, Hall gets his starting role back. I thought if we drafted a starting CB, Hall could move to FS but it's crowded back there now.
So, defending our NFC East crown isn't important.. We are still developing rookies and throwing them out week 1 to "develop"

I think it's more important to start the best players and allow the younger ones to build confidence in to a starting role. You throw Amerson out early and he gets burned and loses confidence in his ability and it could get worse. Remember, this guy is coming off his worse season on the college level.

So we should have sat RGIII last year and went with Grossman?

Its more-so for flexibility (Jammer can play CB and S), the fact that Jammer and Meriweather aren't playing special teams and the fact that Rob Jackson will be suspended so that's one spot open (maybe 5 spots with RG3, Helu, Fred Davis, Carriker, Meriweather) if they end up on the PUP list

The thing with Lynch is that he can play FS and SS and special teams. Jammer isn't a STer, and is more expensive (hell, he may not even be a SS).

Speaking of Rex, I vote to cut him and sign Tebow as #3QB and gimmick player. Let him take a few of Robert's hits.

Seriously, on option plays, he could actually do some damage in our offense alongside Griffin.

True, Rex COULD actually guide us to a few wins, especially with our upgraded defense, but if we lose Griffin and Cousins...we're in trouble no matter who the #3 is. The chances of losing both of those guys is not big though, so why not have a #3 QB who can actually contribute weekly AND would be a perfect fit for the new offense, unlike Rex.

Wouldn't that be crazy...Rex wins the SB for us after Griffin and Cousins get us there? :D

Tebow brings too much drama/baggage. I'd pass.

Re: Secondary is a Primary

Ehh who cares. Griffin brings in the reporters too and we can handle it fine.

If we lose games because of what idiots write in newspapers and say on ESPN, we don't deserve to win.

He and Griffin are basically the same person OFF the field with their religious and political beliefs yet one gets hated for what he believes in.

Heard on NFLN this morning that New England is considering Tebow. He wouldn't fit there. Running the option 3 times a game won't work, ask the Jets. Here, we already have the perfect scheme in place for him.

This is the attitude I don't get...looking at his personality and beliefs before what he does on the field. None of the media talk/hype/obsession is his fault. Robert's an outspoken, open Christian and Conservative and no one in the media focuses on that. Tebow's nowhere near the QB that Griffin is BUT he is a great all-around athlete with a drive to win. He could help us more than he could help any other team in the league.

Just watch, Seattle will take a chance on him and beat us in the playoffs again, with Tebow's help.

Re: Secondary is a Primary

i agree. bring in tebow as cheap as possible and define his role from day 1.
then the media circus of will he start will he play is over...

he can be the LOZO equivalent to the offensive side of the ball

I think Tanard Jackson will be back and I think he will start at free safety for us. The guy can play, makes plays and has a nose for the ball. His problems are off the field, I think he will be back and starting.

Much much better than Madieu, our corners suffered from having madieu and reed at safety, whoever the safeties will be, I think our coverage will be much better overall whoever is back there. I think the starter at Free will be Madieu or Rambo with Merriweater at Strong.

Being that we were so limited in FA because of the penalty, he is our best option at FS imo. Bring the young guys along, hell Rambo and Thomas probably could challenge Merriweather at SS.

Why on earth would we want to take Gryphon, our best player, out of a game so that we can play Tebow instead? I say keep your best player in the game and let Tebow play elsewhere.

^Rambo is a true FS imo, but I can see Thomas at Strong. Overall I like Rambo better, that being said Tanard is better than both for now.

I really don't care about his beliefs or views. I'm not even talking about that. He's just a lightening rod for the media which isn't needed for a 3rd string QB.

I just don't see the benefit of bringing him in to be inactive every week. We're better off with Rex for many reasons.

I'd like to sign Tebow and let him play TE. We could have a lot of fun with him and Jordan Reed on the field at the same time, both being athletic and able to throw the ball. And like someone else said, he could even run the option some.

MTK 05-02-2013 11:50 AM

Re: Secondary is a Primary

Didn't we just see last year with Paul how difficult it can be moving to TE? I don't think Tebow is even that great of a fit there. They put him out on some routes last year in NY and he looked totally lost.

GridIron26 05-02-2013 11:57 AM

Re: Secondary is a Primary

What makes you think that Tebow have better hands than Davis's, and even Paul's? Tebow is simply overhyped and overrated, wayyyyy overrated. He could not even beat out Sanchez and Jets' 3rd QB last season. If Tebow had a chance to play good as TE then I'm pretty sure Jets coaches would have thought of that when Keller went down with the injury.

We wouldn't necessarily have to put him at TE, maybe we could line him up in the backfield. Or maybe we could put him and Griffin side by side about 5 yards behind center, with Morris lined up behind them. Then with Jordan Reed at TE you'd have 3 athletic guys on the field who could run, catch, or throw. The defense would have no idea what to expect.

I don't know, just a thought.

Re: Secondary is a Primary

How does a thread about the secondary turn into a dicussion about Tebow? Stop Thread Jacking!

I like what we have done with the secondary. If the pass rush can get home we have a secondary full of ballhawks with good hands. I honestly think half way through the season Rambo needs to become our starting FS and Thomas our starting SS. The more opportunity that they have to work together in the new role the better chance both player have of success.

If Jackson can be anything like the player he was before suspension the combo of Merriweather and Jackson will knock some heads as well.

The hatred for him is from the media. The media constantly talks about him. He's a backup and gets more talk than most playoff teams.

I'm a huge Florida gator fan, I loved the college version of tebow. But the nfl version I hate. And that's solely because of the media talking about him.

I agree completely. Unfortunately Jacksons off the field issues has taken away from ppl looking at the type of player he is. The guy can play, he is no Ed Reed but he is a very solid starter that has a nose for the ball.

The 3rd QB is typically inactive each game, so what's the point?

Love Tebow the person but don't really see him helping this team. Taking time on the field from other players and a roster spot for a few trick plays that could, but probably wouldn't be that successful is hardly worth it IMO.

His potential for being a LOZO type player on the offensive side of the ball, filling in as needed maybe at FB, H-Back, TE in case of injuries, players who get to be day to day during the year.. when available on sundays when maybe a few ppl are in-active for some trickery type plays or jumbo packages... the potential for an adjustable more valuable player than grossman.. but i see what your saying, and unfortuantely for Tebow... this scenario would be better than current offers he's getting lol.. $75 a game? wow.

Re: Secondary is a Primary

From the Amerson article:

The Redskins anticipate initially grooming Amerson to play on the outside and sharing the field with Hall and fellow starter Josh Wilson, one of whom presumably would play nickelback and cover the opposing slot receiver.

“The first thing we want to do is see if he can play outside because that’s the toughest position to play,” Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan said. “If you can find that guy, you are in pretty good shape. I think he can play nickel, but we are looking at him as an outside corner, and we’ll adjust some other players on the inside.”

Gotta feeling Amerson starts the season on the outside. Hall and Wilson fighting it out for the other boundry corner.

Not to be a naysayer, but that wasn't actually much of a hit; Clark was just in a vulnerable position at the point of contact.
