He makes zero sense as a replacement for Robinson. So my only guess is they really believe in Muckelroy to step up and for Mays to take Muck's spot on ST.
More likely though is he's just visiting and nothing more But who knows, they need bodies so they may just end up signing him. He won't be the only visit though
Any word on how Jeremey Timbrough looks so far? |

Re: Redskins Training Camp Thread wk 1
Keep in mind people, we didn't lose Jenkins for the season, just 4 games (Eagles, Packers, Lions, Raiders). We get Orakpo back, and we have an improved secondary. Plus Chris Baker was as good of a pocket pusher as Jenkins was (IMO). We will probably sign a guy as well. Luckily we have depth and luckily Jarvis Jenkins isn't the face of the defense. Hell, he isn't even our 2nd best DLineman. Just means Bowen and Cofield need to step it up for the first 4 games.
On a(nother) positive note, Daryl Tapp who played 4-3 DE for Philly and Seattle has been looking really good according to Orakpo. Tapp has transitioned to 3-4 OLB. And keep in mind that Rob Jackson is also going to be suspended for the first 4 games. Thats a lot of pass rush come week 5. I really think we should give Richard Seymour a look. Sure, he isn't what he was in NE, but he can still play and I definitely think he can give us 4 very good games at the least. Plus he's a veteran presence with multiple rings. |

Also have there been any reports on the two players, I haven't been able to find any. |

Went to walkthroughs this morning and the number of fans calling Pat Whyte our "X Factor" was too damn high.

More than 1? Zero chance he makes team. Zero. He's a body to run our regular offense and take the load off of Bob. Nothing more. |

I've mentioned before that I like Pat White, but I don't really think he has a good chance at a roster spot either. |

Re: Redskins Training Camp Thread wk 1
Reading a couple of write ups make me think Bryan Kehl has a good chance to make the 53 with Robinson going down.
Garçon is our real X factor if he can stay healthy I could see a trip to the pro bowl. Still need some real info on our safeties. |
@granthpaulsen: Kai Forbath hit field goals from 27, 30, 36, 42, 48, 53 and 58. He missed from 64. #Redskins

I've heard from others that have attended TC that Skye Dawson sounds like the next preseason star who will fight to make the roster.

As a returner? Does he return both punts and kos? That doesn't bode well for a guy like Crawford, whom may be the odd man out with EJ, JW, DH, DA all locks for the most part. Leaving minnefield and Crawford battling for the last spot. |

I don't know. It's what I had heard. They love him and believe the RT job is his to lose. But they seem to prefer to develop him at LT instead |

Exactly. Crawford is a future starting CB on our team. All I read was how great of mini camp and trading camp RC was doing as a DB. |

Maybe this is his year to become a legit #1. It would help RG a ton since they already have decided to key on garçon. |

IF...big IF, but if Chase Minnefield plays every game and is 100% healthy, that could be a threat to Crawford's spot. But I think its a long shot. The Skye receiver kid might have a shot to make the team if he plays well enough. Remember we need a back up slot WR. |

Ah I didn't pay attention to the number until now. Although Davis and Williams shouldn't really be in the list, it was just marijuana (not big deal IMO). Still, the number is high.
Crawford was ballin last year
As punt returner, yes but I don't think he played great as CB. He did make few plays and bad plays came with it as well. If Minnifield doesn't have any problem with his knee through out the training camp, Crawford is gone unless Shanny is willing to keep Crawford as special team specialist like Banks. |
Wahoo! Another thing we lead the league in!!!
Wait... Is this not a good thing?
It's not a great thing, but I think a footnote should be added that 3 of the 6 PED players are no longer on the team and a 4th Tanard Jackson is highly questionable to return. Granted none of the 3 that are gone were critical starters but I don't see the Skins as having a culture that makes you think it's no big deal if you are caught. That is opposed to the Seahawks who still have 4 of their players on their team. Also from the earlier PFT story(before we got these 2 and tied Seattle):
Two other teams, the Broncos and Giants, have had four suspensions each, while the Patriots, Redskins, Bengals, Texans and Rams are tied for fourth with three each. With 50 total suspensions during that time frame, 22 teams have had at least one. Only the Bills, Lions, Jaguars, Colts, Chiefs, Jets, Raiders, Cowboys, Eagles and 49ers have stayed off the board.
|

There's a good interactive graph in that article, and what it showed me, was the way to reduce the hits Griffin takes, is to not play the Bengals! edit: and it was nice to see a Post article that isn't bashing the Skins. Very well written analysis piece. |

50 of the 152 hits came in the first 3 games(about 17/game). Those were games a) where Griffin was just learning about Pro speed, b) the coaches probably were learning what a target he would be, and c) had the replacement refs - and some teams like the Rams - were clearly playing with less than clean intentions. Over the last 13 games(about 8 per game), all three of those issues seemed to be handled better. And I would expect this year, with a season under everyone's belt, both Griffin and the coaches will be more prepared for how to handle what hits he inevitably takes. |

The Giants seemed like the former, the Steelers the latter.

You are right, I worded it wrong way. I guess I should have said this, Williams and Davis got suspended for marijuana, not PED thus they should not be included in the list since the title is "Redskins move into tie for PED suspension lead". Whichever reasons players get suspended for, is always big deal. I just don't believe that using marijuana should merit suspension but that is different story and it is not right kind of discussion in this thread. |

Skye Dawson, one of the UDFA's we signed after the draft. Heard good things about him, but will probably land on the practice squad if anything. If he makes the team, it will most likely be because he is a good KO/punt returner. |
