I really expected the announcers to show another player was the actual offender for the phantom PI call. Same with the phantom Hold on Cofield a few plays later. I can't believe the refs didn't see someone do something, and just got the numbers wrong.
Eddie Royal set a pick on Josh Wilson so the slant underneath was uncovered. That is what the PI was called for. The Refs just got the number wrong |

I figured as much. Really thought the announcing crew did as bad a job as the ref's. |
Redskins Vs Chargers Postgame
I think all the reports have been that Cofield is one of the top NT's in the game. The problem is more of expectations. The DL are supposed to be controlling the line, with the LB's making the big plays. Overall, I think our 3-4 front 7 is our strongest part on D, with Fletcher's limitations being the weakest link in it. Riley, Kerrigan, Jackson, Rak, Jenkins, Cofield Bowen all bring it to the opponent all game long (except Denver in the 4th quarter :()
It is definitely the strongest part of our d, but look what we are comparing the front seven to - the back four. Lol. I think as per expectations the secondary is playing better than the front 7. As per expectations. Edit: rak and kerrigan have been slight disappointments. Hall is playing out of his head. Amerson is holding his own. Without looking at the numbers and based solely on the eye test this years backfield seems head and shoulders above last years hot mess. |

Re: Redskins Vs Chargers Postgame
After watching the film.
Kyle did a lot more of moving the pocket and it showed as we didn't give up a sack all game. Kory L is a liability at the moment on the offensive line. It's a shame that Rib digressed. He got pushed around a lot and barely had the advantage. Hank really puzzles me. The guy has such a large catch radius but he doesn't use it. I can't understand why he just doesn't attack the football. He waits for the ball to come to him, and sits on his routes. He tries to catch with his body way to much. Reed's blocking was WAY better and gets better every week. On Alfred's long run he not only chipped the end from making the play, but went to the second level and sealed another defender. Very impressive.. |

One interesting note for those who are saying that Kerrigan is disappointing...he's ranked as the #5 linebacker. Not too shabby. Orakpo is #14. |

sad isnt it? Horrible Shanny pick. Sad because we need at least 2 new WR this offseason. |

And have Shawn Springs flashbacks? No thanks. #39 is fine...it will be nice to see a different number being worn in the stands when he's a Pro Bowler every year. |

If anyone got a head-on shot of David standing on the midfield logo after his interception yesterday, that would make a perfect poster for his wall. Capped this from the NFL.com video highlight.

Unsure if it's been posted but NFL Replay is showing a condensed (90 mins) version of the game tomorrow at 3:30pm. Set your DVR. I usually record and keep a few games for a slow spring/summer afternoon Redskins fix. This will be in the rotation.

I think Bowen's been MIA compared to the last two seasons. He got pressure on the QB pretty regularly before, nothing now. On the other hand our run defense has been pretty solid along the front line, so I suspect there's some scheme change up at work there. Regardless, any 3-4 should create pressure from the OLB and Orakpo especially has been a big disappointment in that dept. again. |

Advanced NFL Stats Player Statistics
Corners really haven't been the issue IMO, it was the safety play. Now that's improved a bit an corners look way better too. What I like about Hall is he shows some swagger/attitude no matter what, something we need more of on both sides of the ball. I felt like yesterday was the first game both offense and defense played with pride. Better late than never... |
Re: Redskins Vs Chargers Postgame
I voted Peter Boy for the game ball. First game this season he earned his contract this season IMO. He needs to have 6-7 games like that each year.
|
Re: Redskins Vs Chargers Postgame
How about voting KS?
|
Re: Redskins Vs Chargers Postgame
D. Hall is earning himself a contract. He's been our best player on defense. He's having an outstanding year.
|

yeah when was the last time we said Hall was beat?
I watched some of the Cowboys vs Vikings game and the Cowboys gave up 140, 2 TD to Peterson. The #1 thing you absolutely have to do is contain AP. I feel confident we can do enough to do that. Ponder is not Rivers
Perhaps in the running game we will be able to limit his damage. However, this team needs to figure out how to defend the screen pass. That play has killed us the last couple weeks. |
yeah when was the last time we said Hall was beat?
He's been pretty damned good since the bye week of last year. I think we should just give him one year deals because he seems to play better this way. I want to say he's bargain at his current contract, but he has a lot of ground to make up for when he was complete crap yet getting top position salary. :silly: |

We won't be the only team involved with his new contract, so we'd probably need to go more than one year to re-sign him. |

So needs to have 6-7 career games per season? Totally reasonable. As it is he's already on pace to break the team record for catches in a season. |

Yes sir. Pierre Garçon (French) translates to Peter Boy in American :) |
Re: Redskins Vs Chargers Postgame
We won the game yesterday because our front guys constantly collapsed the pocket.
We won because we scored 30 points and put up 500 yards of offense and kept drives alive. The defense didn't limit San Diego to anything more than SD's statistical averages (24 PPG, 410 YPG). Had it not been for our offense maintaining drives, our defense would have had another nightmarish outing. |
Re: Redskins Vs Chargers Postgame
So needs to have 6-7 career games per season?
Totally reasonable. As it is he's already on pace to break the team record for catches in a season.
On pace for about 1350 yards and 4 tds. Bare minimum expectation considering his contract IMO. And he has lots of 40/50/60 yard games so yeah he needs to have several big ones to get up there. |

Also 108 catches, again a team record. Can't fault him when the offense calls for him to catch a lot of screens and shorter routes. Last week they opened things up a bit more for him and you have to admit a few of those catches were amazing efforts on his part. |

We both know he needs to have 231 catches by week 12 to justify any money we give him. Jabar Gaffney clearly would have broken Herman Moore and Calvin Johnson's record by now. |

Re: Redskins Vs Chargers Postgame
Can we never be satisfied with players who perform? Pierre is playing great football right now, and if we can get another Pierre on the other side of the field we would be in really great shape.
108 catches is productive, and we are labeled a running offense. We don't win that game Sunday if it wasn't for Pierre. Also, Alfred has 686 yards this season 25 yards behind Peterson with 20 less carries. We are a running team so to have a WR produce like Pierre is not unreasonable for his contract. I'm going out on a limb and saying Morris will be leading the NFL in rushing after this week. My biggest issue right now is Morgans contract. It seems like they put him back on kickoffs and punts to justify why he's making so much because Hankerson has taken his spot on the depth chart. |

But lets crush are #1 guy who brings it every week. It makes no sense. Hank is our possision guy, but we gotta add 3 receivers this offseason. Major need imo. |

I really don't think Hank is a possession WR. I think he's better off as a #3 or #4. He produces but has no killer instinct. He never attacks the ball and always catches with his body. Has a larger catch radius than Jordan Reed, but plays smaller. We really need a guy like Alshon Jeffrey with a big body and uses it well. Of course, a lot of teams just make the TE their possession WR and I think Jordan Reed could fill that role if we wanted to add more speed at the WR position. |

You could also argue he'd be on track for more like 1500 yards, 8 TD and 120 catches if RG had been in top form from beginning of the season. On the other hand Peter Boy has dropped some catchable balls too, so his stats are probably about where he'd end up. It'll be his first season breaking 1000 yards and earning his contract, that's all I'm saying. |
