Looked like Paulsen slowed down for some reason on that route, also looked like Griffin expected him to turn up field. Probably a miscommunication of some sort rather than a simple overthrow.
Still, the point is that the play design created an open receiver but the player's execution of it failed. Last year, and independent of the read option, it seemed like KS was able to create open receivers through scheme. I just haven't seen that this year. When it has happened, players have very often simply failed to execute. To me, KS is simply not being as innovative as he has in the past (again, independent of the R/O, KS's schemes have historically created offense for players). Additionally, when the schemes succeed, like having TE running free in space, the players have not taken advantage of what the scheme offered. Several players - not just RGIII - seem to have really regressed this year. To me, our record is truly a team effort and that is deeply unsettling. |

No one can stop our running game. We should be winning with a running game like that. |
Re: skins eagles postgame
The Paulsen overthrow was pretty ugly, but he was facing pressure up the middle on that play. He couldn't step into the throw, that's a good way to sail one.

Alot of people blame RG3 yesterday.. I don't want to steal HTTR24/7 Glory so just check out his twitter. Check out those pic's he posted from yesterdays game https://twitter.com/HTTR24_7/media Two things stand out. 1. RG3 never had time. Even on the throw to Paulsen, he had his own guard on his face and a defenders hand up. 2. 2 man routes never getting open and Kyle not changing the scheme away from the RO till the 4th Q. |
This is part of the reason Shanny needs to go, poor personel decisions. Im still lost, why the fuck did we draft LeRibus? Because he went to fucking SMU?
Bingo - Shanny makes decision based on faith in people he knows. Like Burns on special needs teams and Le Rib. Shanny remembered Le Rib's coach from the glory days. Shanny smiled and said, "Son, we are drafting the Tex Mex eating championship first ballot hall of famer". MY buddy said he's a good kid. |

Re: skins eagles postgame
/beastmode on
Fuck these losers. How can these clowns show up on a must win game and perform the way they did? How can you have 10 days off and show up unprepared and get your ass handed to you by a 1st year coach that has a shitty defense. I'm going to say that I think we picked the wrong QB in the draft, and it's not because I don't think he's a capable QB (he is). Our QB doesn't have the maturity or leadership necessary to carry this team, and maybe Fletcher was right last week. Not sure I've even seen a NFL QB throw a coach under the bus the way that RGIII has with Shanahan. IS this how you repay a guy who mortgage the future of the franchise (and his career) to get? Who the fuck is this guy to come out in public and basically say they were out-coached(even though he's right). It's obvious he's doing his best to get his current coach fired, and that is something I simply can't agree with. Somebody needs to get this kid to STFU to the media. Maybe his BFF Danny boy can do it. RGIII is a huge reason why the Skins sucked yesterday. I can't believe how many passes he overthrew, and that was simply on HIM. Do I even need to talk about that last pass? A QB that doesn't know how to slide, and doesn't know better to throw off your back foot while back pedaling? Are you fucking kidding me you clown? Yet, you have the nerve to call your coaches out? FUCK YOU GUY. I'm almost glad this shit is happening to RGIII because something needed to humble this kid because his ego is much bigger than his production. No more Subway/Adidas commercials until we get something that resembles a all-pro QB please. Thanks. Also, Josh Morgan shouldn't say a god damn thing about being inactive. He got paid 6 mil/year and he hasn't done jack shit except block well. He can't get open, and he's very inconsistent when he was catching. Out performed by "stone hands" Hankerson. Don't know what to say about this coaching staff, but it's obvious it's either one of the two things. 1) Players aren't playing hard for this coach 2) Players simply aren't that good to begin with Now, it has to be one of the two things, and both of these things lead back to our coach. If these players aren't playing hard or doing what they are supposed to, they aren't being coached right. If these players aren't that good, it's on the coach because he hand picked these players on the team. This was a complete debacle and all around blame goes to the whole team in terms of why we lost. Out-coached. Out-played. Season is done and it's time for some changes in coaches AND players. /beastmode off |

Pretty much sums it up...
Pretty much. There's probably some more blame to go around though. I completely agree with the play that is referenced in the article. When I saw Kerrigan line up on McCoy I knew something bad was gonna happen, as I'm sure the majority of this board did. If we can see that and know what's coming, how the hell can our Defensive coordinator not see it?? I just don't get it. I haven't been on the side of firing any of our coaches so far this year, but I'm done with Haslett, he needs to go. |

Re: skins eagles postgame
I wonder whether there will be efforts to start evaluating players since the season is over. Specifically, I wonder whether the following folks will see any PT: Nield, Gumbs, Brandon Jenkins -- heck, even get Fred Davis back out there (especially if Reed is hurt) and let him get some reps and perhaps bolster his trade value (which is nil at the moment). I would not put LeRib out there -- RGIII would get killed. In fact, I would cut the guy now and bring up someone (anyone) from the PS and see what he can do.
|
Re: skins eagles postgame
Davis is a free agent at the end of the year and the trade deadline has passed.

Re: skins eagles postgame
This is depressing -- I just noted this statistic that was posted before the game: A win would "… make Shanahan the first Redskins head coach to win in Philadelphia in consecutive years since Joe Gibbs in 1988-89."
We haven't won in Philly in consecutive years in 24 years!? Man, that's a long time of suck. It's been so long since we were a winning franchise -- I am honestly forgetting what it feels like. |
Priorities for next season:
1. New coaching staff. 2. Linemen on both sides of the ball. 3. Shutdown corner. 4. WR to complement Garcon. 5. ILB or MLB. 6. PR/KR 7. Punter 8. More linemen. 9. Still more linemen. 10. Other stuff.
11. SS/FS ( both are hugely in need of an upgrade) |

We have exactly those four winning seasons I listed in the last TWENTY years!!! We just need to face it, there is a culture of losing around here. We are essentially the St. Louis Cardinals of the old NFC East. Capable to sneak up on teams every few years, but a loser down to the core. Instead of paying Shanny, (and Gibbs 2.0, and the ole Ball Coach) millions, I really wish Snyder had thrown that money at an Ozzy Newsome to build this team the right way. |

not good
no its not good, but not the reason we lost. its not like they totally shut us down, we ran for 191 yards against them. Lost because of innacurate passing by RG3, dropped passes, and no Defense in the 1st half. Even with them knowing what was coming we still moved the ball on them. it is a game of momentum, if RG3 hits Paulsen on that opening drive and we score a TD to go up 7-0, it would have been a totally different game. |

This team is the same in Week 11 as it was in Week 5, the last time they played on the road in the division. They lost yesterday because they haven't improved any, despite being pretty healthy that whole timeframe.

Either way, we didn't lose because the eagles knew our plays, we lost because of execution of those plays. |
Re: skins eagles postgame
The Ravens haven't exactly been great this year.
Which was predictable given the significant free agent losses after the Super Bowl and Pitta going on IR before the season. They've had occasional down cycles before, but never for long, because Ozzy has drafted so well over the years. I admire their stability. We seem to have constant drama here.
Paulson quit on his route. Remember like Randy Moss used to do stop running. Please look at the tape again.
YOU need to watch the "tape" again man. Paulson cut out and never made a cut up field. Paulson had actually turned and looked at RG before the pass was released. That play was a straight up bad pass by Griff any which way you cut it up. All he had to do was lead Paulson to the sideline, instead he threw an inaccurate pass upfield. If anything Paulson slowed up a bit to let RG lead him w the pass since the field was so wide open. |
Re: skins eagles postgame
Paulsen definitely hesitated a bit on the route. I think it was a miscommunication more than anything.
|

He might have, but not for ten seconds and thats how far Griff overthrew him by. Lol. That was a bad pass, no way around it. |
