Re: Around the League: Week 2
Well we play the Giants twice so we will be atleast 3-13. Im not claiming superbowl, and im not basing my prediction of 10-6 being possible off of our victory over the mighty Jaguars. Im basing it off of the fact that alot of teams on our schedule looked extremely beatable. Giants - twice, Cardinals, Titans, Vikings, Bucs, Rams. That is 7 winnable games. Two against Dallas. If we win one that is 9 wins by my count. Colts are beatable too. Which one of those teams that i mentioned are u putting your money on to beat us?
There are a few . |

Based on your post then you didn't see the game did you ? Don't you have a fellow employee to cheese on or something ? .. The Giants outgained the Cardinals 341-266. ... Ellington had 91 yards on 15 carries and Larry Fitzgerald caught six passes for 51 yards. ...Tight end Larry Donnell led New York with seven catches for 81 yards. |
After week two im looking at our schedule again and 10-6 seems completely doable.
Wow. This team finally breaks a ridiculously long losing streak going back to last year, against a woeful excuse for an NFL team, and suddenly the Redskins are playoff bound again... I'm all for optimism but I'm also a realist. For this Redskins team there are no "guaranteed" victories. None. |

I'm all for optimism but I'm also a realist. For this Redskins team there are no "guaranteed" victories. None.
Ok the words playoffs and guarantee never came out of my mouth - only yours. Im not buying superbowl tickets or planning a trip to Disneyworld to ride on Space Mountain with Captain Kirk. I said 10-6 seems doable. I do not believe that is crazy based not on the fact that we beat the Jaguars, but based on the fact of what the remaining teams on our schedule are looking like. So you tell me which of the teams below are not beatable, (notice the word beatable - i did not say which of these teams has absolutely no chance of beating the juggernaut that is the Redskins). Giants - twice Cardinals Titans Vikings Bucs Colts(by far the strongest of the opponents i am listing imo) Rams Cowboys - twice Maybe a split with the Eagles? If we beat seattle or sanfran that is just gravy. I dont know about you but i can pick 9 of those games as wins without feeling i am going out on a huge limb. Based not on the fact that I think we are great but only on the fact that they are not great either(minus birds, niners, hawks) which i pointed out. |

the trial is scheduled for 2015. what are they supposed to do? deactivate him until his trial, continuing to pay him to do nothing? have the NFL dish out punishment before the justice system has its say? do they completely disregard the legal system and kick him out of the league? is there a process for that that is fair as well as capable of pleasing the court of public opinion? this is why the NFL's move (back around when Vick got in trouble) to run as some moral police over their league parallel to the justice system was stupid. i, as well as many others, said it at the time (we can't say much now though, because you're attacked when you do.) it only leads down one path, and this is that path. the NFL is going to look super stupid when Rice wins his appeal for being disciplined twice for the same thing, all as a PR move. the league needs to reverse course. they're a business and they should discipline players of on the field issues and let the legal system handle off the field issues. there is no winning. there will be mistakes, uneven punishments, and situations that don't make sense. if they don't then their only other option is to way over discipline players. and i'll laugh my ass off when all these righteous redskins fans start complaining about how unfair it is one of our guys got a ridiculous punishment before being found guilty of anything. |

I work in education and I recognize that being an educator of the youth my private life has to remain exactly that. If a family sees me having a drink at the bar and tells the administration at my school that I was drunk I might find myself at the warehouse instead of the classroom until an investigation is completed. Is it fair? no but it comes with the territory. |

It comes with the territory you allow it to come with. Yes, society has reached the point that as a teacher you cannot been seen doing that. The same people that treat you as an over-paid babysitter can't stand the idea that you might be normal and enjoy a drink in your free time. But do we want to further it more? The same social forces going after the NFL, the Vikings, and the Ravens are the same ones coming after us for having a racist team name. It's all righteous feel good stuff until its your team being targeted for whatever reason. Be careful what we wish for. |

what are they supposed to do? deactivate him until his trial, continuing to pay him to do nothing? have the NFL dish out punishment before the justice system has its say? Killing dogs (who can't defend themselves), beating children (who also can't defend themselves) and throwing a left hook at your wife, I'm pretty sure are universally condemnable things. |

Re: Around the League: Week 2
Adrian Peterson is a bad role model, I know some people want to separate football from reality, but you just can't.
IMO the court of public opinion serves a valuable purpose, especially in a case like this. We as a society have inflated the importance of entertainers to a level of sacredness. We pay them, we dress like them, our kids idolize them. The problem is, we have judged these men only by there ability on the football field, they have a ton of money and if the get in trouble with the law, they can post bond, and pay for the best lawyers to pay off the worst judges. Ok, maybe. I'm exaggerating a bit, but my point is, if public opinion can help to improve the moral character of these men we overpay and idolize, I'm all for it. It is good for society. It may not be good for your football team, but I'd rather root for, pay, and idolize a man that doesn't abuse the ones he's supposed to love and protect. |

Anyways, my point wasn't to equate the issues. It was to point out it's the same methods, used by the same people, to accomplish similar goals. |

Wow, very poor red zone offense for the Iggles.

Re: Around the League: Week 2
I hope Haz can exploit the Iggles' o-line. They have a third stringer at RT, I think Kerrigan can have a field day against that guy.
