No doubt. He'll start day 1 for sure. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
One thing I'm noticing with our signings, we will be a faster, younger more athletic defense
He's a backup at best
If 5 mil a year is backup money he better be a damn good backup. Idk much about him but he's coming from the Raiders defense, which was the obvious weak link on the Raiders last year. Not impressed. |

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
I'm happy for Pierre. No way we would've given him 49ers money. I don't think he'll get a ring but he will be damn well paid for at least 1 year.

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
It seems to me that we're just bringing in bodies on the d-line. And I'm ok with that. Let's not act like Baker was Reggie White.
Pryor is kind of interesting to me. Remember he was abusing Norman when we played Cleveland? You put him in out offense he might take off. He certainly could help in the red zone. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
What if they want Pryor to play QB?

Swearinger is interesting. Remember him in 2014 when we played the Texans? He's got a big mouth and is pretty physical. Not sure about his coverage skills.

if you look at his stats, his coverage skills have improved.... 2017 8 PD and 3 interceptions D.J. Swearinger, DB for the Arizona Cardinals at NFL.com They will probably still draft a safety or two and have competition for the starting spots |

Tough hitter. |

Swearinger seems like a late bloomer, he's coming off a good season for the Cards.

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
Next we draft Peppers. Then we have 3 guys that can play linebacker and safety. Put them all on the field and confuse the shit out of everybody.

Fine with me. Peppers can play safety, linebacker, wildcat RB and punt returner. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
Should we attempt to add Connor Barwin? Jonathan Hankins? Dontari Poe?
Barwin can fill the void that Murphy has lost. 3rd down smith Barwin Kerrigan and gallete. Hankins would be a nice run stuffing piece and if we can find a good ILB and maybe a true FS I think we would have had a nice FA period. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
Let's just cap this day of redskins incompetence by resigning ziggy hood to a multi year deal. Just fuck it all

I understand Jeff George is available for a 4+year deal. Actually, I'd like to see the Skins sign Pryor. He looks to have a great up-side and can be a threat in the Red Zone as a wildcat. |

I would like to try him out at OLB but he isn't the fast twitch edge guy we lack. There would still be a big void. |

Speaking of drunks, this happened this morning. Good old Aldon and his girlfriend ran into a police car while being drunk at 8:00AM. Nice drunk interview, Alden is done in the NFL.

Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
A quick interesting bit from Keim:
John Keim @john_keim 22m22 minutes ago Will be curious to see if anything develops with DL Bennie Logan. Likely? Not sure at this point. But not out of the question. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
I don't see us spending any more on the DL in free agency. I think we'll draft a guy there.
The team must have thought way less of Baker than most of us did. They brought in 2 other guys for pretty much the same amount that were unknowns to me and I'm assuming a lot of us. Hopefully it's a net positive for us. |

More Chris Baker indeed leaves Ashburn without so much as an offer from #Redskins, source says. @diannaESPN had reported it 1st. Wow.
We let our guy walk without an offer and sign 2 lesser player? I miss Scott slready |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
We let our guy walk without an offer and sign 2 lesser player?
I miss Scott slready
Keim said McC was in on the baker decision....and this was part of the offseason plan. Baker was given an opportunity to test the market and skins would negotiate off that. Clearly the skins weren't gonna make an offer to double his salary. But I'll agree, baker is a steal at 6.5 per year |

I miss Scott slready
Scott didn't negotiate salaries for the x1000 time. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
Per Keim:
Just popped in my head but can't understate this: The Redskins love Jamison Crowder. (This isn't new). See increased chances, more plays. Kinda mention this the other day, but I figured this was a pivotal reason why the FO may have been more willing to let our 2 outside WRs walk. Id like to see Crowder work the outside more. If we add Pryor, I would imagine he would be the Garcon role...? |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
SS, I know you mentioned Doug Williams as a possible replacement, but who will be in charge of the draft THIS year? If it's Jay, I'm down (OR any of the current scouting department).

I hope it's Jay, rather than Bruce "in charge", and Danny boy needs to just sit and watch. They have plenty of personnel in place though, and my guess is they have already done the majority of the vetting and extreme vetting, so it's mainly going to be just a matter of managing the flow of the draft, potential deals, etc., and taking the players they have on their board. I don't think there's any question what the focus should be (D), sprinkle in an O lineman, QB, TE, and/or RB. |

I believe Schneed said that Jay and Doug Williams sat in on the combine interviews. I would think they will keep a three man team - Gruden, Williams as GM de jour, and BA as president. I also imagine that authority will probably be split to favor Allen, but the other two will have a strong say. |

Redskins Football is like sausage; you love it but you don't want to think about how it's made.

Ahhh, cool cool. I still don't want Allen anywhere near the draft. Maybe I need to hear more details, but I really am not a fan of him right now. |
Re: Redskins Free Agent Signings
I might be wrong, but Doug Williams to me just doesn't seem like a talent evaluator.
