Re: Around the NFL Off season thread 1.0
The #Chiefs will receive a package of draft picks from the #Rams in exchange for CB Marcus Peters. They are focusing on the final part of the deal right now. But it’s getting done.
Per Rap sheet
Man, the Chiefs are having a great offseason so far: -they freed 17M in cap space by trading a QB whose replacement they already have -they picked up a great CB in Kendall Fuller. And a 3rd rounder -and now they get "multiple picks" for a CB whose replacement they already have Well played. |

But I really like how their 2 trades complete each other. They get good value back without creating any holes on their roster. You can argue they downgraded a bit on both position, but they still have solutions. Plus apparently Peters didn't want to stay long term and they had issues with him. So in both cases they get really good value for players they wouldn't have kept 2 years from now. Yeah as really think it could indeed bite them in the rear in the long run.

I wonder how much of a choice they had once the guy they gave up a 1st and a 3rd to move up 17 spots in the draft to get was perceived to be a potential starter though. With all the Alex Smith haters and the talk about him being a game manager, once Patrick Mahomes delivered when asked, they weren't going to keep Smith very long, so getting value for him while they could was smart. And they got pretty good value for him. Envoyé de mon SM-J320FN en utilisant Tapatalk |

Spot of foul if under 15y, 15 yards penalty if the foul occurs further down the field. Btw, I was looking at SB XXVI (amazing game). And realized there has been some pretty significant rules changes between then and now: What on earth was that "if a receiver is forced out of bounds while in the air, and he would have come down in bounds had he not been pushed, then it's a catch" rule ?!!?! Glad we got rid of that one! It came up 2 times on the Art-Monk-called-back-TD-drive, feels pretty insane when you've never heard of it... |

Re: Around the NFL Off season thread 1.0
I don't like that change, if you tackle a WR on a deep route on the 10 yard line where he would probably catch it, he should be down there. Now if you do that, it will also take away from crazy GW catches like (MIN) this yr and others. I say keep the P.I rule but take away Illegal Contact

Glad we got rid of that one! It came up 2 times on the Art-Monk-called-back-TD-drive, feels pretty insane when you've never heard of it...
Just think, had that been the rule back in the 80's, there would've been a lot of much closer games, if not completely different outcomes in games, because I do remember that rule. And I think the last TD in Super Bowl XVII was such a TD, because Theismann kind of threw it to the side of the end zone and I think it might have been Alvin Garrett that caught the pass and was forced out of bounce, but still had the TD to count. In Super Bowl XXVI, there were a lot of "catches" that wouldn't have been catches today. I remember one low pass Rypien threw to Byner that was called a catch and there was no way that would've been called a catch in today's game. Of course, there were also a lot of times where roughing the passer probably would've been called on the Redskins defense as well that wasn't called. The game was definitely called much more loosely back then! |
