I wasn't a big fan of drafting BR in the 3rd but boy was I wrong on that one. I am still shocked that he was shot in the knee a few months ago and is now trucking NFL defenders. Crazy.

Yep, this is example 1A of why Turner sucks. We are way better at running the ball than we are at passing. But he wants to pass the ball in the redzone, so that's what we do, even if it lowers our chances of scoring. You have to scheme around your talent. |

Yeah, he's a bad ass. Definitely looking like a great pick. He should be a 1200+ yard rusher next year. |

The players they are picking have been excellent, very pleasant surprises, they certainly have an eye for talent. Heard it reported somewhere that Mayhew wanted to draft Kenyon Green in the first over Dotson. Looking forward to what Mathis can bring next year |
Re: Offense Sucks/Turner Sucks/Refs Suck Post-Game Thread
I like that BR is willing to stretch his runs to the edge more lately. He’s not a speedster but he’s got enough to get around the corner. I think next year he will really take his game to the next level.

I have no idea how Green is doing, but that would have sucked. Dotson is going to be a bad ass here for at least 5 years. If we didn't re-sign Terry he would be my new favorite player. I don't know why, but I always gravitate towards receivers as my favorite players. With Trent Williams being an exception for a few years. |

If we are talking draft picks, Jamon Davis has come around

Green was the 1st round Guard that JA dominated against the Texans. Has not had a good rookie season. But neither do many others. |
I know you are a big Howell advocate so I'd like your take. My take with Howell is if he isn't being considered to start it is because he hasn't shown he has what it takes in practice. There is a gap either in running the offense or playbook understanding that we are not privy to knowing. The other option is that the coaching staff is stubbornly plugging along with square pegs in round holes.
My take is Ron spent $26 mil on a washed up QB and doesn’t want to be ridiculed. I know putting Howell in the SF game would like throwing him to the wolves, put him as a backup to TH and try him out if TH can’t get anything going. Going back to Wentz with BRob in there won’t be any better than with TH. Wentz panics and overthrows or holds onto the ball and gets sacked. |

Re: Offense Sucks/Turner Sucks/Refs Suck Post-Game Thread
The punting discussion makes me curious. I remember coffin corner punts being used often in the past, to try to restrict the return potential. Why is it this isn't done any more? Most punts seem to be aimed centre field now, when attempted around midfield. 🤔

At the 34 I am making a FG attempt. Especially in the 1st quarter and 0-0. |
Re: Offense Sucks/Turner Sucks/Refs Suck Post-Game Thread
It was an interesting play simply because our gunners overran the punt returner and he didn't make the obvious fair catch signal and instead had a big return for minimal net gain. It was a perfect storm of failure for us - the most desirable outcomes would've been Tress punting it out of bounds inside the 10 or having a touchback for normal field position.
But the odds dictate - Obv Ron or whoever consulted Slye and Slye said kicking a 50+ yarder directly into the wind is a bad idea - somebody just didn't consider a failed 4th down conversion where you gain a few yards is basically the same as a punt. Either way the punt wasn't what killed us. But it was cowardly. |

Why do you run Samuel into the teeth of the defense and take BR out of the game? How stupid is that? Why does Ron let that happen? That is the dumbest shit ever. Scott Turner is a moron. We're limited at QB and OL. But lots of teams have weaknesses there. There isn't enough elite guys to play all of those spots. Those should be way harder to fill than a OC. Then again Rivera is in charge of both. So maybe he's the chief moron. I won't blame him for QB, most teams are looking for the guy. But I will blame him for the OL and Turner. But Turner is still a moron. |
Re: Offense Sucks/Turner Sucks/Refs Suck Post-Game Thread
Thing is the offense does plenty of things that work, and work well. But when things are working well, I feel like he tries to get too cute. Just stay with what is working!
It's like that stretch of runs in the 4th quarter where S Barkley got like 10 yards every time. Just keep running the same play until they stop it. That's what a smart OC will do. We don't have a smart OC. We have one that is desperately trying to make a name for himself, and is failing miserably in the process. |

Were the Giants in a semi hurry up no huddle so we couldnt sub out? I remember wondering why we didnt go to 5 DL. Flip side .. I think the Giants audibled early when we showed 5 DL and beat it pretty good w a pass play I feel like we were hesitant to go 5 DL on SNF ------------ Bates .. wondering why, when Thib was beating Leno 1 on 1 we didnt move a TE to chip/help. I thought Bates was out but apparently he played 36 snaps on SNF. Bostic played 41 snaps |
Re: Offense Sucks/Turner Sucks/Refs Suck Post-Game Thread
Running Samual five times for 1 yard is insane… BR is one of the top RB in league and he gets almost no touches in 2cnd half ??? That is just WRONG!
News FLASH to Turner … Taylor is at best a game manager stop trying to turn him into a top tier big arm QB . |

Particularly on their D TD play. You're backed up and the guy has been getting in the backfield all night, so why the hell leave your LT 1 on 1 with no TE chip or blocking back? TH had virtually no protection on that play. 🙄 |
Re: Offense Sucks/Turner Sucks/Refs Suck Post-Game Thread
I think the issue w/ Turner is it's not that he isn't smart. He's probably a pretty sharp guy I think. His issue is he wants to be the smartest mother effer in the room. Look at how cool my plays are. Look at all my cool shifts. Just running the meat and potatoes plays aren't good enough for him.

Re: Offense Sucks/Turner Sucks/Refs Suck Post-Game Thread
Went back on dvr and watched that 3rd and 3 play run w Samuels.
We went spread 4 wide (2 on each side), Samuel in backfield, pretty sure it was shotgun (indicating pass) Giants went nickel or dime, just 4 DL and no LBs near LOS. There was a huge hole on the B gap on right side that Samuel hit .. problem was Landon Collins and another guy were closing in on the hole. Tackled 1 yard short of the FD. ----------- Going spread we got the look we wanted from the Giants ... just a bit of bad luck, came up short. |
Re: Offense Sucks/Turner Sucks/Refs Suck Post-Game Thread
BRob gets through that and it's a 1st down. I'm not questioning the call, but definitely questioning the personnel used.

3rd and 3, I trust Robinson more than Heinicke. Running the ball would be my preference, just not to Samuel as you said. A playaction fake to Robinson with a rollout pass/run option for Heinicke would be my 2nd choice. |

Agreed but i dont think you get the same look from the Giants w BRob in there. I tried finding this play on teh internet, watched the long highlights and this play cant find it save my dvr on my cable box We had 5 OL on 4 DL .. giants in a dime or buffalo nickel w collins One thing I do wonder, watching teh play, is how this huge hole opened but it was right were Collins and another D guy were plugging I wonder if the Giants "gave" us that hole idk --------------- Going spread and having the D mirror your personnel is a win using samuel in these roles to get the D to go dime/play pass is a win just bad luck and a yard short Going into this season Logan Paulsen and Hoffman talked about how they could get mismatches using Samuel in back field, getting to run on pass defenses etc We complain Turner doesnt use our playmakers then complain when he uses our playmakers .. and I get it. running Samuel up gut isnt what we are talking about or have in mind This playcall worked on paper and pre snap |

No way to know for sure. I do think Turner is trying to get our playmakers involved, and with the limitations at QB he probably feels like he has to do things like he did on this play. But Curtis Samuel is not Deebo Samuel, and he has no business getting the ball on a run up the middle on 3rd and 3 (or whatever it was). Sometimes I get the feeling that ST just gets way too creative, when something straight forward that has been working - would work. It's a big contributor to our Red Zone issues too in my opinion. I'm not against creativity of course, but there is such a thing as being "too cute" with the play calling. When we need 1-3 yards, give the ball to BRob. He will get the first down probably 7-8 out of 10 times. |
