Re: Trade deadline approaching...
How is it that SF can possibly trade for Sweat and pay him in addition to:
Trent Kittle Deebo McCaffrey Juszczyk Warner Ward Armstead Bosa Hargrave Why can’t we keep him, we are not paying what they are paying. Stupid not to keep him and Young. We have no OL, RB, TE, LB to pay. Tired of giving away picks for shit and getting fleeced specially by the forty whiners. If either is traded I hope it’s not SF. |
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
Rather not trade within the NFC but shit happens. Either, or both can go. Only if the price is right. No more fleecings 🤦

Re: Trade deadline approaching...
How about Sweat and Jacoby to Atlanta for their 1st and Heinecken? Everyone wins.
|
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
Jaylon Johnson for Sweat straight up?

Re: Trade deadline approaching...
There's rumor that Jonathan Allen wants a trade....I hope not.

They won't trade him, he's the leader of the defense. Unless someone offers a 1 for him he's staying put. |

I think that is purely based on his media tirade after the Giants game. He will be due a new deal soon but he is one of 3 or 4 guys you want to build the team around, he was front and centre when the new ownership was introduced and I have a feeling Magic likes his attitude |
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
From JP Finlay
Josh Harris ok’d a James Harden trade last night, what comes today? Talked w a bunch of people across league and Montez Sweat trade seems most likely, especially if new contract on table. Multiple teams interested w NFC South a major player. Also been told Cleveland chasing Brissett is real.
|

OK that is reaching for a story/link by Finlay. I guess he was a sooth sayer in a past life (I saw a seagull with a snake in its mouth that means Troy will win a great victory tomorrow). |
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
Does anyone know how hands on the ownership is at this point. Does the current coaches & staff have full charge to make any trade they want or do the new owners have last say?
|

I'm pretty sure they are very hands on. Even if everything was going well for the team, a first-year owner with the experience of Josh Harris would be heavily involved in these types of decisions. |

He tweeted it, he is the local reporter who has contacts in the organisation, key point being the Brisset to Cleveland thing is not just an internet fantasy. Also multiple teams interested in Sweat means price gets pushed up. As fot the rest, just an ad lib joke. Of course team sources could be making it up to encourage other bidders to get involved |

I like JP and he's a very good source with connections with the team. I always look to Keim to validate any rumor, since he's been doing this much longer and is the most objective reporter in the local beat: https://twitter.com/john_keim/status/1719317536095834534 |
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
Per schefter:
Trade: Commanders and Bears have agreed to a trade that is expected to send DE Montez Sweat to the Chicago for a 2024 second-round pick, per sources. Sweat is in the last year of his contract, and the Commanders are opting for a draft pick now. Chicago beefs up its line. |
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
Should be a high second rounder too, no mention of new deal though
|
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
If the season ended today, it would be the 35th overall pick.

Re: Trade deadline approaching...
Interesting tweet by Keim:
@john_keim Also: can still see a move for Chase Young as well. But there has to be value in return. Know some teams had medical concerns or at least asked questions about the knee. Will that block a move? Deadline in less than four hours. |

If Young is traded, then the new FO will have enough picks to go up for a QB. Sweat and Young are likely the only two players that have any significant trade value. |

Allen would too but I don't see them moving him.. Also I don't see them drafting a QB early. Way too many other needs |

You mean they will have enough picks to help improve this offensive line for Sam, BRob, and Chris R. :) |

Definitely not out of the question. Everything is on the table, I just don't think it is the best course of action, personally. |

This is true, if they love Maye or Williams |
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
The funny thing is, after losing 5 out of the last 6 games, this team is only one game out of the Wildcard. Perfectly set up for one of Ron's signature late season runs to almost make the playoffs.

That is why you need to stock pile draft capital though. It could happen, but I doubt this team ends up with a top 5 pick record. |

The schedule won't allow that. NE and NY are the only 2 teams I can see us beating with this HORRIBLE staff. And NY owns us so prob not that game. |
Re: Trade deadline approaching...
Sources: The #Commanders may not be done... They are now taking calls on former No. 2 pick Chase Young. Could they trade both Montez Sweat and Young?

:laughing- Classic. We go on a mid-season run, win 5 of our next 8 just enough to be in the thick of the mix at the end, before Bienemy completely abandons the run and Howell becomes the first qb to attempt 100 passes in a game and gets sacked 20 times (breaking his leg Alex Smith style on the last sack). Fade to black. Part 2: Howell declares "All in for day one" in the offseason and comes back before he's ready. His footwork is atrocious and his career is ruined. |

Sources: Former No. 2 overall pick #Commanders DE Chase Young is being traded to the #49ers. Incredible. Likely a mid-round pick in 2024.

Better be a 2nd or equivalent to that.

3rd , compensatory it seems
Albert Breer The Commanders are trading DE Chase Young to the Niners for a 2024 compensatory third-round pick, sources say.
|
