Also hired John Pagano (Chuck’s brother) has coached outside LB’s, solid staff
so far.

A lot of Seattle connections on defense, nothing wrong with that. Special Teams - Izzo is solid. Offense though. Very nervous about that side of the ball.

There is not an Oline coach in the world that could have helped the Giants oline last year. Probably not one that could have helped ours either. We will have hopefully 3 new starters there this season though.

Here’s the coaching staff so far:

HC - Dan Quinn (A)
OC - Kliff Kingsbury (A+)
DC - Joe Whitt Jr (A)
STC - Larry Izzo (A+)
OL - Bobby Johnson (D-, wtf lmao)
QBs - Tavita Pritchard (A)
LBs - Ken Norton Jr. (A+)
DPGC - Jason Simmons (B+)
PRS- Ryan Kerrigan (A+)
SDA - John Pagano (A)
TBD - Brian Johnson (B to A depending on what we give him)

Since the offensive line is probably the 2nd most important position group, in terms of what needs to be fixed on this team, I would definitely like to hear more about the decision to hire Bobby Johnson. I don't know much about him, but the hiring doesn't seem to get the same accolades as most of the other hires have. Still giving the benefit of the doubt to Quinn/Kingsbury, just want to know more about why they chose him, what attracted them to him, etc.

At the end of the day its about the dudes you have.. If we have good players on the Line we will be ok. Coaching is a big part but without players a great coach doesn't do anything..

TEs coach....
Adam Schefter

Commanders hired former Buccaneers assistant coach David Raih as their tight ends coach, reuniting him with Kliff Kingsbury, whom he worked with in Arizona.
I'll partially agree with that. It obviously matters if you have good players. However, some coaches get more out of their players than others. Some coaches teach better, motivate better, and are able to get their players to buy in more easily than others.

It will be interesting to see what we do with the TE position. I imagine Thomas is to be released, Bates is a blocking TE, Cole Turner disappeared later in the season and Rodgers is wild card but has potentials.

Wouldn't be surprised if the whole TE room was replaced. Probably isn't a bad idea. Need way better production there.

Best TE we have is Armani Rogers, unfortunately he’s coming back from an achilles injury

The4 fortunate thing about the unfortunate part is that it happened in preseason, so he has had lots of time to get healthy.

I think Tavita Pritchard is going to be a big time coach one day. That is a great hire. Him and Kingsbury and a QB at 2 is a scenario with very high potential.

Why are you so high on Rogers at TE ? Didn’t he play one game at TE in college? He certainly has the physical attributes but I haven’t seen nearly enough (nobody has) to think he is starting material. I hope he is but there is just no proof.

He was not bad in Buffalo. I believe the oline improved his first year there and dropped off after he left. You cannot judge the guy on what happened in NY. That oline was a train wreck.

27 days until we begin putting this decimated roster back together.
LB
Edge
Oline
Secondary

Would be great to address alot of this before the draft. Then we can go bpa after we take a quarterback! I have not been this pumped for football since 2012. That was fools gold though.

it actual was gold in fools hands

They drafted potential two franchise QBs in the same draft, i believe if RG3 was allowed to heal he had been a mid to high function QB for years

Regarding Free Agents:

- I read that CIN is planning to franchise tag Tee Higgins.

- I saw where Jaylon Johnson was quoted as saying that FA is all about the money for him. We should be able to handle that part. He could help us a ton. I suppose he could be franchised by the Bears.

- Josh Allen of the Jags is a UFA. I think he is one of the best overall players, let alone Edge players, in the league. He does everything very well, makes key plays, and he's a leader. He might be tagged but if he's not I would go all out to sign him.

- Danielle Hunter of the Vikes is a great Edge player who is a UFA. The only negative is that he is 29 years old.

- Andrew Van Ginkel (MIA) is a do-it all Edge/LB UFA. He's not likely to be franchised.

- LB Patrick Queen. Yes, please!

- Mike Owenu RT (Pats). I've had my eye on him for a while. He would be a big upgrade to our OL. I watched him shut out T.J. Watt this past season.

Anthony Lynn apparently joining the staff. Lot of experience in this coaching staff, including former HCs. Hope it comes together.

Well it will certainly have tons of experience on this coaching staff...but so did Gibbs 2.0, where it proved a lot of the "old" ways of doing things were, just old and outdated. Hopefully this time will be different.

We've had solid staffs here before like the well documented Shanahan staff. All comes down to getting players.

It's not the X's and the O's, but the Jimmys and the Joes that make the difference.

The Commanders are hiring Darryl Tapp as their defensive line coach, a source confirmed.

Sources: #Commanders GM Adam Peters is hiring #Lions senior director of player personnel Lance Newmark as the new assistant GM. A long-time respected scout in Detroit, Newmark was instrumental in building the #Lions.

Newmark hopes to help remodel Washington in similar fashion.

Joe Whitt Jr press conference.

Interesting listen - notable quotes:

"We're gonna build the Commanders defense" - he strategically picked different coaches from different schemes so they can pick and choose what works best. Don't expect us to look like Dallas.

One reporter asked (paraphrasing) what they're looking for in players and he said he isn't gonna talk about that because that needs to stay in house.

Started off strong - emphasis on playing fast and hitting players. I thought it was a good listen.
