Mike Florio just can't help himself. Did Snyder sue him or something?
Florio Claims Skins Are “In Bad Shape” « CBS Washington Profootballtalk and NBC Sports’ Mike Florio joined “The Sports Junkies” on 106.7 The Fan while at radio row in Indianapolis, IN during Super Bowl week and spoke candidly about the direction he thinks the Redskins are going. When asked point-blank if he thought the Skins were heading in the right direction, Florio responded immediately with, “No.” Asked if he though the franchise was treading water he replied, “treading water would be a compliment right now.” Some fans and pundits think Peyton Manning could be the remedy to cure the mediocrity that has been ailing D.C. Florio predicted it could make matters worse. “Peyton Manning’s not going to want to play quarterback in an offense where the guy that’s running it has a joystick in his hand and wants the quarterback to do exactly what he wants the quarterback to do,” Florio said. ”Peyton Manning would strap Kyle Shanahan to a goal post with Duct Tape within a week,” he added.
The Sports Junkies and Florio together? Talk about a shit sandwich. Cant take what either of these say seriously. |

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
Well, do you think two straight years of 8-8 while still adding quality youth is acceptable? I mean I do, and I think a lot of us here are willing to be patient, but the fan base as a whole, especially the DC media will start putting tons of pressure.
We're talking about the Texans in another thread and they're a PERFECT example of teams who put together quality seasons even though their records weren't amazing, they stayed the course as an organization and as a fan base.
I love what the Texans did this year, first off. But when you have a Great RB, a GREAT WR, and a good QB like Schaub, all they needed was a defense. They got a Great D Coordinator and drafted and signed a couple FA's and bang! They had a top 5 defense. The Texans were always a team that people would say was playoff bound ('This is there year they have a cardinals-like run in the playoffs!' I've heard that for 3 straight years now...) |
Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
My issue is that if we're going to be mired in mediocrity, we have to be willing to take seasons like the one we just took. As a fan base, while we've been patient after our last Super Bowl win, we have been far too vocal and impatient when it comes to coaching/owners/players.
I 100% guarantee that if we get a new QB and he doesn't perform at a Pro Bowl level and maybe we go 7-9 or 8-8, Skins fans will go apeshit.
With all due respect, this is completely wrong. After the ridiculously horrible teams and below average quarterback play we have witnessed the past decade and a half, if we get youth on this squad, try and build through the draft, and quit signing veteran players for way too much, then the fanbase will "take their lumps". That is, with one variable. Better quarterback play, or at least quarterback play with a little promise. If we have back to back 7-9 or 8-8 seasons, but have a capable rookie at the helm, and understand that the pieces are being put in place, and the team will take a year or two to completely "gel", then I hope that we as skins fans can see the light at the end of the tunnel. 7-9 or 8-8 would bring our squad out of the cellar, and might just end our reign as the laughing stock of the league. But it all hinges on quarterback play, and that all depends on the front office and how they plan on getting him here. 7-9 with a nice young rookie showing promise, acceptable. 7-9 with Rex Grossman at the helm, again leading the league in fumbles and turnovers, unnacceptable. |
Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
Ok don't kill me here guys, but there are good stories in the NFL about building teams through the draft, but there are also teams who have been building through the draft and getting the same poor results for years.
IE: Browns, Tampa, Carolina, Jags, even the Chiefs and the Lions, yeah some of these teams have had a good year a time or two. AND yes I realize I put the Lions on this list, but they are still the Lions. We are going to need to see a change for years not one goods season. I know we need to put an emphasis on the draft but bringing in a few good FAs is a good move for this franchise as we need more depth and players all across the board. Man I do believe in the FO because I am a huge fan , but I want to see some results this year!! Sorry for the thread highjack, just needed to ramble on some random thoughts for a minute. TMC- I don't know how long a fan base is suppose to stay patient when we are talking about a 20 year period with only three playoff seasons, one NFC East Championship, and 2 playoff wins. Back in the 80s and into 90 and 91 we had a team we could honestly expect to be good and contend each year. |
Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
Carolina is a good defense away from the playoffs and with Jon Beason, Charles Godfrey, Thomas Davis, and James Anderson returning from injury and a top 10 pick to be used on defense dont be surprised to see the Panthers in the thick of it next year.

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
Quake I wouldn't either. I was just trying to say that even though there are great successes building through the draft there are also franchises failing year in and year out at trying to do it that way. The Bills are another example of a perennial loser building through the draft year in and year out.

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
Panthers could be a good story, and no matter what they're fun to watch!!

Re: I See QB Rumors (2012 QB Thread: The Sixth Sense)
I wouldn't call the Panthers perrenial losers though. Bills? Yes. Rams? Yes. Panthers? No.

They are in the Yo-yo division. With Atlanta, Cincinnati, and San Diego rounding out the rest. |

With Cam Newton, they'll be in the thick of the playoff discussion for years to come. They just need to add a few more pieces here and there. |

I agree with Akbar Shabazz Jenkins-Robinson III. The Panthers are one of those teams where one year they suprise everyone and are good all year long, and then the next year their team hits the shitter. The only difference is the last time their team hit the shitter, they lucked their way into Cam Newton. He's setting them up for success for years to come, provided they fix the other pieces. |

I see Smoot has been moonlighting as a Rams fan. :laughing- Check this crazy ass rumor out.
You heard it here first! I got a phone call from a fellow former Scout friend that has ties to the Cleveland browns, and he said that there is so much excitement around the "Browns" camp that they can barely stand it! Apparently, "Jeff Fisher" had a meeting with "Sam Bradford" the day he arrived at Rams Park and told him ( Bradford ) that they were trading him to Cleveland! I was also told by a different source after I hung up with my friend, that "Fisher" wouldn't have taken the job with the Rams unless he had full control of selecting "Robert Griffin III." I never would have dreamed this in a million years!!!! More than that, "Fisher" says that he would have STILL taken "RGIII" even if the Rams had the # 1. Pick in the Draft! My Buddy told me that the "Browns" wanted "RG3" as well, but the Rams told them that there was no way they were going to get him, so "DEAL WITH IT!" When I heard that, I about fell off my chair, because before that, I just thought that maybe it was nothing more than a rumor. But I know for a fact personally, that one of "Jeff Fisher's" favorite sayings is..."DEAL WITH IT!" If all this is true, I'm sure ESPN already knows about this and will release it right around Super Bowl Sunday. Personally, I think it's a dumb trade unless the Rams get BOTH of the "Browns" 1st Round picks ( #4 & # 22 ) but I couldn't get any kind of confirmation about the trade itself. I can only assume that both # 1's are involved. I cant even imagine the Rams getting BOTH "RG3" and "KALIL!" Again, never in my WILDEST dreams did I think Cleveland was DUMB ENOUGH to give up both 1st Rounds. Wow!!!
Sounds like he pulled it out of his ass. |

Check this crazy ass rumor out. Sounds like he pulled it out of his ass.
I've checked this forum a couple times myself. Read a few threads there and you'll see some out landish trade scenarios. One has the Skins trading 2 first round (12-13) 2 seconds (12-13) and a 3rd (13)and a 4th (12) for the #2 pick." Deal with it"? It must be true. |
