Re: As long as RGIII is 100% for 2013 training camp...
Totally premature to talk IR with Robert at this point. I think PUP is more likely. He misses 6 games, which would suck, but with a 100% healthy roster heading into the regular season and potentially that $18M back in cap money, we could be okay with Cousins at the helm for 3/8ths of the year.
I just hope priority 1 is to err on the side of caution with Robert moving forward. Fortunately he's a 22 year old world-class athlete with the best docs in the world at his disposal.
We wouldn't IR him until we had to. I just don't trust Robert to be truthful with the team and doctors about how he really feels, and I don't trust the team to not take Robert at his word. |

He will be back before October....no doubt in my mind!

I've never heard of a complete tear being 'better' than a partial tear...
Also here is a little background on the man who will be fixing RG3. [YT]L9zjlRUSooE[/YT] [YT]RJt-O7knnOg[/YT] |

Also here is a little background on the man who will be fixing RG3. [YT]L9zjlRUSooE[/YT] [YT]RJt-O7knnOg[/YT]
According to the doctor on sirius if it is a partial tear than surgery is not an option? So, since it is a complete tear now they can do it all in six hours. |
They had a orthopedic surgeon on Sirius XM NFL Radio this morning who said just the contrary. If it is completely torn they can do surgery to reattach the muscle to the bone. If it is a partial tear, surgery can most likely not be done and the ACL can not repair itself due to its place on the inside of the knee, basically giving you a weakened joint until you completely tear it. The MCL and LCL which are on the outside of the knee can repair themselves with therapy and treatment. That prognosis scared me. I hope it is just his LCL and not his ACL being partially torn as previously speculated.
Requoting Skinzwin here so you can read what he posted. Sounds to me like it is a good thing? |
Re: As long as RGIII is 100% for 2013 training camp...
No sense in hoping RG3 back next season at this point. Only because there is zero chance of him returning the 1st half of the season. Let him rest and heal, and he will.
We need to look forward to Kirk leading the Skins, and there is a very good possibility that we may not want RG3 back on the field if Kirk has us in 1st place when and if RG3 is ready to return. That probably does not sit to well with some of you, but it may very well be a reality.
That would be the mother of all QB controversies. I think its a very viable option. How "rusty" will RG3 be? I'm confident he'll get back in the groove fast but probably not for a game or so. Honestly, this is the best thing that could happen. Two powerful QBs (don't trade...we need a winning back up). |

Re: As long as RGIII is 100% for 2013 training camp...
Wow. He's already shaved two to four months off the normal recovery time. Impressive.

Re: As long as RGIII is 100% for 2013 training camp...
Please understand I'm not hating but this isn't right,6-8 months, maybe for you and me to be able to be normal again but for a football player ,a QB,and for someone who has already had this done one time before,12 to 14 months. No I'm not a dotor but I did have the surgery and I admit I'm no superman but no matter what the knee will never be the same again.

Re: As long as RGIII is 100% for 2013 training camp...
But seriously...the overt damage control that's been coming out of Redskinsland is incredible.
It went from, "it could be the old damage" to "partial tears" to "torn lcl" to "total reconstruction". Now they're skimping on the time this injury normally takes to heal to make it seem less severe. And what? Set the stage to potentially rush him back? They were scared shitless to come out and say it right after the game, but they sure as hell knew all along. We all saw his knee bend to the ground like a slinky on gameday. This was a colossal mistake by the coach and by the organization. It looks like the famous doctor Andrews is just another Smithers. They should "man up" like Griffin was trying to do by going back in and admit they gambled a ten year window for a playoff game and lost, big time. It brings up all the old feelings that this franchise suffers from a real lack of character under Snyder. The Jenkins WaPo article sums it up for me perfectly. Oh well, right? Get well Robert. |
Re: As long as RGIII is 100% for 2013 training camp...
What I don't get is what they thought would happen next week anyway? He was clearly affected from the end of the 1st quarter, no way he was going to be able to play another 3 games.
All the best with the surgery RG3; for what its worth an injury like that in AFL would be a 10 month lay-off at best; at worst who knows |
Re: As long as RGIII is 100% for 2013 training camp...
Hopefully our young OL works very hard in the off season . It would seem to be a focus in F/A and draft to bring in one more guy into the competition . Hope we do not rush RG's return ,maybe start KC the first 4-6 games and see how that goes ? Good luck Mr. Griffen .

6-8 isn't bad
