I'd also pass. I can't recall recent success or anything being hailed as innovative or special in recent years from him |

Reich reminds me of Norv Turner. Great OC, terrible HC. The benefit of getting a guy like Reich is teams won't be beating down his door to hire him and maybe he won't want the headache of a HC job now that he's been burned twice. If we bring in a guy like Mark Brunell, he might only be available for a 1 or 2 before he gets hired away. I'd want Reich if we got a defensive minded HC like Mike Vrabel. Vrabels downfall is they never really developed a QB. Reich would be a big help in that area. If we go with an offensive guy, a younger guy like Brunell would be a better fit. |
Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
i think slowik can be a good head coach

Personally I'd ignore the top 2 on this list as I don't want either because they'd want too much control, plus I reckon they'll be in SD and Atl respectively next year. I'd also take Vrabel of the list (again control) and I'm not convinced with Morris' HC credentials. For me, I'd be happy with the rest of that list, preferably Johnson. Evero I'm not 100% on, but basically because he's not an offensive guy, and his D credentials are pretty sound. I wonder if Slowik is ready yet? Sometimes the meteoric risers can't sustain that success. But there's not denying what he's achieved so far. |
Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
I chose Johnson…I really like the DC from Baltimore as well.
Vrable and Morris I’d have interest in as well. Slowick is first year OC. More seasoning imo |
Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
I'd have no issue w/ Reich coming on as an OC. Experienced guy who's been around the block.
Whoever the next GM is here, we need someone that's not going to make critical errors like letting guys like Trent, Scherff, and Cousins out the door. Imagine this offense with those 3 guys still here. We haven't been able to find even adequate replacements for any of those guys. Just a total organizational failure at the top. You need to identify your top talent and RETAIN THEM. These are mistakes you can't overcome, at least not with a below average front office setup like we've had with Ron.
I can just imagine, first meeting between Adam Peters and Trent Williams. Adam: Hey Trent, I'm gonna ignore your 8 years of playing through injury and scandal to become one of the best LT's in the NFL. You need to prove to me you're still good before we settle this beef. Trent: Fuck you. Trade me. |
Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
I went Harbaugh, yes its been 10 years since the NFL but I believe in his ability to be the "leader of men" that our GM stated he's looking for. Plus this from the above posted link/article:
Harbaugh went 44-19-1 as head coach of the 49ers from 2011-2014. He took over a middling team that hadn’t made the playoffs in eight years, and immediately transformed them into one of the best teams in the NFL. Then he proved this wasn’t a fluke by doing the exact same thing at Michigan. That's a great record minus the 8-8 season being his last and the standout part is turning around a middling team that hadn't made the post season in 8 years. |
Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
I believe Ben Johnson will be the hire....
|
Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
I want a Harbaugh and Jayden Daniels marriage.
I’m confident JH would lie, cheat, and steal his way to wins and I’m all for it. He also deserves a lot of credit for the development of Collin Kaepernick. Jayden Daniels is a much more talented passer and runner. |
