Yeah it really isn't a big deal, because we have done that with other draft prospects too just people don't talk about that in the media...

We wined and dined Orakpo too. Same kinda thing, too him to a nice steakhouse with VC and DS before the actual tour of our facilities...
Teams all over the league do it. But it's a "big deal" with us because we're one of just a few teams where the owner joins everyone for dinner. In most other cases, the owner meets the player in his office or at the team's facilities.

Dinner is a very big deal to me...it's my favorite meal of the day!

I don't care about taking guys out to dinner cause we all know this is Snyder's time of year. This is his Super Bowl and we likes to make noise during the off season. He loves to wine and dine. But yes I'd rather he just name himself the GM and be a man about it. Instead he hides behind his frontman and barely does interviews.
This year, i beleive Cerrato wants to do the same: Trade down with the goal of selecting a certain player at a position of need he covets without reaching.

Last year, we traded down with the goal of selecting Merling with our 1st 2nd rounder and a Notre Dame DT with our 2nd, but Miami and Philly nabbed them right before us - leading to the Thomas and Davis picks. Cerrato specifically said that they only selected him because their primary target was gone, he was a receiver they thought theyd have no shot at drafting, but he was the highest rated player remaining on their board and he was still there - unbeleivably - at 34, so drafting him was a "no-brainer."

In 2009, Cerrato is probably interested in trading down in the 1st round, picking up a 2nd rounder, and drafting one of the 3 USC LBs or a 2nd tier OT with the lower 1st round pick and a guy like Brandon Albert with the 2nd round pick we acquired. But who knows, we could fail to get the player we target (like last year) and end up taking something else that doesnt necessarily fill a need.

Looks like JC has some trade value after all.

Trade value? Yes. Truth to the rumor? I don't see it.

Exactly. That's an awfully flimsy rumor.

forget sanchez, we have other needs that are more pressing such as our O-line and DE. We can wory about drafting a QB next year, since it will be saturated with excellent QB's. but first things first. draft Orakpo, maybe pick up a OL in the third, re-sign washington, and that will do for this year, unless we can package our 1st and 3rd for Peppers. immagine that combo, Haynesworth and Peppers. Scary. Well worth the draft picks.

Peppers, besides being too expensive for our cap, really wants to play in a 3-4, not our 4-3. My guess is that he would be unmotivated with us and would not be the Peppers that we'd hoped for.

The defensive lines penetration would be huge, ala John Holmes style!(IN Theory) But, in Redskins nation,(reality) it would probably end up being the equivalent of being rolled by a hooker for a multi-million dollar contract.(Deion Sanders)

The title doesn't jibe with the body of the article. The title makes it sound like the Jets are going to try to acquire him from the Skins. But the actual article says the Redskins would try to trade him to the Jets. Not the same thing necessarily

Zorn tells it like it is

Sanchez would carry huge price tag for Redskins - Kansas City Star
"With Jason, we are going full speed," coach Jim Zorn said. "He is every bit being handled as though he's our starting quarterback, both through word and deed. With the draft, part of knowing who's out there and what's available, we've got to get to know these players a little bit. And if there's any opportunities to better our football team, we want to talk to those guys, too. Nothing is etched in stone."
