Drinking a Lagunitas Brown Shugga. Good stuff!
Grabbed a 6er of this for New Years, but ended up drinking it yesterday. Had 4 of them. Since they are 9.9%, I felt very, very good. Helps that it is an awesome beer. I have yet to have a bad beer by Lagunitas. Had a 6er of Uinta's Baba Black Lager, which I've had before. Very good lager. And a 6er of Pub Dog Chocolate Oatmeal Stout, which was just ok. A lot better chocolate stouts out there, but these guys are from MD so I gave it a whirl. |

I see these 22 oz bottles from sierra nevada that i have never heard of but never pull the trigger bc they are $6-10 a piece. i will pull the trigger on this one. i also grabbed a 6er of brown shugga, it was good. i liked it. i need to get off west coast IPAs every now and then. def a strong ale. i dont have the article in front of me but did a flood ruin a large portion of the market's barley? beer prices are soaring like gas prices in the mid 2000s. unionjack went from 12.49 to 12.99. telltale heart ipa and a lot of others went from 8.99 or 9.99 to 10.99. |

BD - have you seen anything from farmstead hill in MD?
edit - no, farmstead brews a very little amount and want to keep their product quality control at its highest level. it is only avail in New Hampshire where it is brewed. interesting article - apparently DC, unlike the 50 states, does not have a law that restricts alcohol sales across the line ... meaning if a DC distributor isnt selling enough of a product, a DC bar can go buy the beer and bring it back across DC lines for sale. wish someone would go drive up to philly and buy some russian river. Re: Let's talk good beer
Over the Mountain,
I was in Ashville, NC two summers ago a small town with over 65 breweries many distribute to VA, DC, DE, PA, WV and not Maryland. I emailed them (I did this with New Belgium five years ago and they gave me the same answer but now distribute in MD), that said the distribution fees for out of state craft brews is too step in MD. |

They have Pliney the Elder and some of the others but are extremely overpriced. A bottle of Pliney is $20+. If you want Russian River look around at online stores and you can get it shipped. Its not cheap but still cheaper than $20+ a bottle. I have gotten quite a few "unatainable" beers through the mail. |

Here is a list. Look through them and see what you can find. Stores carry different things at different times so if it doesnt have it now it might later. |

Definitely on the list. I usually go to a small store that carries some great stuff, they just don't have the room to carry more. I need to branch out to the other shops in Frederick. There are a few really good ones. |
Re: Let's talk good beer
i want to try something diff this week. gonna take chico up on his recommendation of Anderson Valley, Bear Republic or Breckenridge.
mike - i went to a few of those sites, unfortunately MD is on a lot of the "cant ship" lists. bd - my craft beer store lets me special order a case of any beer that can distribute in MD and then keeps it in the back walk in and lets me buy sixers at a time. 10% off if i buy the case. i found that when they special order a beer, it ends up getting in their normal rotation. |

Go to individual sites and check. The shipping laws in Maryland have changed and alot that say they won't ship on the main list will. |

They are out of stock right now but has a place to put your email in for notification when its in. There are also a lot of good beers you can get that are not available here at a lot of those stores. You can get Surly from France 44, Three Floyds from The Beer Temple, and Alesmith from any of the California shops. Some beers you just can't get. Like Heady Topper is not available anywhere outside a small area in Vermont and even there its difficult. I had to pay someone $50 bucks to drive around and stop at stores and grab enough for a case. I ended up spending $130 to get it . |
