Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!

To piggy back on SmootSmack's thoughts:

The more this story unfolds, it's apparent that McNabb pushed for Washington once he learned of them as a possible suitor. And out of some weird moral obligation towards McNabb, Reid and Co. obliged. So as much as this looks like it had Snyder's stamp, all statements seem to be contrary.

There's a lot of rubbish in this thread about McNabb not being a playmaker or not having pocket presence. Bull puckey! I'm not sure what McNabb you guys have been watching, but on his worst day he has more pocket presence than Jason Campbell.

Truth is we don't need McNabb to be great and he'll be in a more balance attack here. That's one of the biggest misnomer about this trade, we just need him be great in the fourth quarter of about half dozen games that Jason couldn't, for one reason or another, close over the past couple of years.

WOW!!!!!!!!! I got a text from one of my friends last night and almost shit in my pants. McNabb is still in the prine of his career and we got him for a 2nd rounder. 2nd rounders have a 50% success rate? Or less? I like this move. McNabb can play at a high level for 4-5 more years.

Yeah he basically said the trade happened so quick there wasn't any time, but it would be crazy to think something won't happen.

I honestly don't understand this type of thinking either. Just don't get it at all. We're talking about one of the better QBs in the league, the comparisons to JC are just laughable.
Stuff like Gradkowski>Campbell is low-hanging fruit. I do not want to hear what does and does not tell the "whole story" when you're just flat out lying to me.

You can't claim self-evidence as logical support when your arguments are entirely faith based. I'll do you the courtesy of not accepting your failures here as support for my arguments validity, and I wouldn't jump to a conclusion and rule out the fact that there's genius in this move that neither of us can see, but I'm just going to reject most if not all of your premises here as some mix of false and insignificant.

I don't consider it significant that McNabb has experience in the Reid WCO, seeing as the only defense for this trade would be that Shanahan is going to use him more optimally.

I have no idea what you mean by McNabb "knows how to play on the run". He doesn't complete too many of his deep balls, so perhaps he should take some of that great touch off of it. McNabb isn't Rodgers (that one was particularly easy).

Faith in Shanahan, faith in Shanahan, anybody but Campbell, "trust the process". Got it.
Ok now you've lost me on this one.

I've heard that said, but Kyle is our OC and calling plays, did Houston run the same offense as his dad? I don't know, I am asking because I would say Houston didn't seem to be a WCO.
You are right I forgot about that but, It seems like it is going to be some type of merger of each others offenses

I would hope so obviously, but the fact appears to be that we gave up a pick next year with no confirmation that he will be on our team past this year.

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!

Now who are we going to get to give McNabb a true #1 wr??? I don't see us making this type of trade and having him throw to our current cast of wr's.

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!

Generally speaking, can anyone remember such a blockbuster trade, say, in the last ten years?? I can't.

I don't even put the Champ/Portis trade up there, but not comparable. This is just nuts.

Well, this is the one area of the trade that I hope is in our favor. McNabb rarely has had a stellar WR crew and he has succeeded. So I hope he will make our receivers better.

Have you seen the stiffs McNabb has been throwing to his entire career and managed to put up great numbers?

I think he can live with the current crop of wideouts.

So the notion of McNabb being traded in some sort of a three-way deal with another team like the Rams isn't likely?

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!

I'm not a fan favorite of JC or McNabb. I guess I'd take JC over McNabb only cause he's already a Skin.

But I'll say this... No different then other teams and fans saying that if JC was worth anything we'd be keeping him, If McNabb was worth anything the Eagles would be keeping him. I know players get traded for all sorts of reasons, but he's not dragging the team down character wise or breaking the law or using drugs. No team in their right mind would give up a franchise QB unless there is something wrong with him, he's lost his step, or he can't run the offense anymore. I'm telling you we are not getting the franchise QB everyone is hoping for.

In defense of the move Shanahan took on a Denver team with a 34 y/o Elway and went to the SB. McNabb is only 33. So maybe Shanahan can get more out of McNabb as he did with Elway and get the job done.

But I'll still hold out hope that there is a trade in the works behind the scene's so we can aquire a young QB for our future.
I doubt that.
Oct 26th game, we lost but here are the comparable stats
........................................YPC..TD..INT..Rating
J. Campbell...29/43...284...6.6...2.....1.....91.6
D. McNabb....15/25...156...6.2...1.....0.....91.4

Nov 29th game, we lost, but led in the 4th quarter 24-16 and the defense gave up 11 points
J. Campbell...22/37...231...6.2...2.....2.....73.1
D. McNabb....21/35...260...7.4...1.....1.....80.7
The reason I said that is, DM5 knows their tendecies on both sides of the ball. He knows their offense like the back of his hand and their snap counts. Which is going to be helpful for our D. He also knows how Andy gameplanes which is another plus.

Ok, so what you are saying, basically, is that since they let Brian Westbrook go, Byron no longer could give us inside information, therefore... we should give up 2 picks, 11mill without a guarantee past this year, so we have inside info on a team that we are one one season removed from sweeping with JC. Got it. I change my mind GREAT move. HAIL TO THE NEW BOSS, (same as the old boss?)
