Re: The Sam Howell Thread
EB will either be the HC here next season or coaching offense/HC somewhere else. I just don't see a HC coming in and not bringing someone with him that he has worked with himself. Could be wrong, but I don't see him staying at OC here.
I actually don’t either but you never know. Im just saying i think he should be the OC. |
He will run it more I’m thinking but he also trusts Sam to be a dude and he has been. BRob has been very good too. Maybe EB doesn’t think the OL is good enough to run the ball much.. idk
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It sure seems like he thinks the O-line is good enough to drop back and pass 50 times per game - since week 1 though. I guess he can't see the fact that we are averaging basically 5 yards per carry when we do run the ball. Whatever, as long as he doesn't get Sam killed... Can't help but wonder though, if we had been running the ball more, controlling the clock more, making less mistakes in the passing game, and not piling up the sacks, if the results of some of these close games wouldn't have been different. |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
G-1 is an absolute good loser and winner and always congratulates us or takes the high road when they beat us. He doesn’t disappear when it’s convenient than rub it in our faces like sandtrap. G-1 brings plenty to the table here.

I agree on both counts. |

And the problem I have is when it’s been brought up, EB’s like he wants to “be and stay aggressive”. Bro a good run game can A) be aggressive and B) cause more aggressive opportunities in the passing game. Sam is wasting time with the play fakes with 4 to 1 balance. Also, when your offense line is so bad you have to max protect, u are limited. While EB and Sam have clicked, this offense needs a lot more work. Can EB continue to develop it? I’m not sure |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Forcing a new HC to retain an old OC is a lot more risky than Howell not being able to handle learning a new offense.
Harris hires GM, GM hires HC and scouting department, HC hires coaching staff. That has to be the only order. Otherwise, we're doing it ass-backwards Snyder style right off of the bat.
I'm not sure there is a single head coach in recent NFL history, other than Belichek, that that handled both the offensive and defensive play calling during games. And he doesn't do either anymore apparently. If Harris hires a defense oriented head coach (think Ron Rivera 20 years ago or Belichek 30 years ago), that coach might want to retain EB if the offense continues to progress. Assuming the hiring duty is not given to a general manager. But the same line of thinking may apply-- why screw with the offense just when they're starting to "get it." |

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
After 10 weeks Sam Howell is the leading passer in the NFL... Who would have guessed that???

If you told people that was going to happen at the start of the season, how many would have guessed the W-L correctly? Not many thats for sure |

i am assuming by yardage, which he is doing well don't get me wrong, but that stat can be misleading as some QBs have had their BYE weeks and Sam has not |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
What’s the bigger surprise, Sam Howell playing well as a top 3rd of the league QB or the defense being a bottom five unit in the league?
Also, this draft class being a complete bust so far? |

It is ridiculous that we don't run the ball and have let our running game get this bad. If we had the semblance of a running game, we'd be in much better shape, and Sam would be playing even better. The defense is, again, a major disappointment. I don't know how JDR still has his job. |
