Re: 2006 Hall of Fame Inductees

Today is a good day. For anybody who heard the Steve Szaban show on espn radio, you know what i'm talking about. Don Banks just got undressed by Szaban. Banks is not a HOF voter but admittedly is good friends w/ Peter King, Zimmerman, etc. Some highlights are:

Banks was upset at a statement made by Snyder recently. Snyder released a 2 sentence statement after Monk recently was not voted in. Banks went on to say Snyder's statement is going to hurt Monk's chances to get into the HOF. Banks inferred that his HOF voter friend felt that this "statement" is going to set Art Monk's chances back as well.

Szaban blasted him, saying this is not unprecedented by owners, but due to the media hatred of Snyder, he is admitting that outside factors having nothing to do w/ Monk's play is affecting voting. Banks could not deny that it plays a role (he tried backstepping but it didn't work).

Basically, Szaban let this guy have it (and he is a regular on the show). We all know it, but it was good to hear it on the radio. I would pay money to hear Szaban get a hold of Peter King.

You see...that's just it! They have in fact admitted that they didn't judge Monk's HOF future on Art Monk himself, but things that really have nothing to do with Art Monk. As much as they will try to side step the issue, they are screwing Art Monk over royally and they have no excuses for it.

The HOF committee sucks, plain and simple. Even though I am a fan of your biggest rival, there are most certainly two former Redskins that I hold in the highest regard and should have locked reservations in Canton and those two are Art Monk and Daryl Green.

Two of the classiest players to EVER take the field of play in the NFL. Monk got screwed, and he deserves better than that.

Turk Edwards (1932-40) T
Ray Flaherty
Joe Gibbs
Otto Graham (1966-68) Coach
Ken Houston
Sam Huff
Deacon Jones (1974)
Stan Jones (1966) DT
Sonny Jurgenson
Paul Krause (1964-67)

Wayne Millner (1936-41,45) End (WR)
Bobby Mitchell
Charley Taylor
John Riggins[/QUOTE]

lotta coaches, 2 franchise QBs, and a bunch of guys that took a short stay here and probably shouldn't count as redskin HOFers in any way (like lombardi, who i wish could have stuck around a bit longer :/ No one can ever say we haven't had good coaches).

Art Monk was a finalist for the hall of fame this year - as he has been just about every year since he has been eligible. Give the committee credit for that because if you take a look at the finalists this year, there is a WR absent from the list whose numbers are BETTER than Art Monk's. He's not a long-time Redskin so he wasn't left off because of "Redskin Bias". Check out the numbers:

Art Monk:

3 consecutive Pro Bowl seasons
940 receptions
12,721 yards
13.5 yards per catch
68 TDs receiving
332 yards rushing - - zero rushing TDs

Andre Reed:

7 consecutive Pro Bowl seasons
951 receptions
13,198 yards
13.9 yards per catch
87 TDs receiving
500 yards rushing - - 1 rushing TD

And don't even bother to check out Michael Irvin's numbers because they don't measure up with either of these guys...

Oh, by the way, Russ Grimm deserves to be in the Hall of Fame because he was a damned good offensive lineman. And so do Kuchenberg and Zimmerman because they were damned good offensive linemen too.

Look I don't see wich of the 6 that got in didn't deserve it and I agree with all of you Monk deserves to get in but this year it was hard a lot of guys that must be in the HOF.

And you can't say you have a Redskins bias you have more players in the HOF than the Cowboys and they have more championships and SB apperance we only have 7 players that's nothing.

And again it was tough Madden and Wright being sennior where almost a shoe in and wright was 1 of the most domminent tackles of his time and it took untill he was a senior to get in Oline have the worst chances to get in.

Monk deserves it and also Irvin maybe next year.... theonly Questionable for my test is Moon he is a HOF but not a first ballot in my book.

In my point of view the HOF committe is feeling the heat of the players and fans who are upset because they don't give the recognition to the players that deserve it the ythin kthey know more than the players and coaches and it's starting to show.

All the talks about Aikman not being a HOF because he was sorounded by great players well wich great qb wasn't Montana and young had Rice, Kelly had reed and Thomas Elway had Davis. Fuc dumb asses.

The next HOF in my book are Monk, Irvin, Derrick Thomas and T.Thomas maybe not all next year but they all deserve it

Aikman and Irvin are HOF's in my book. I don't think Irvin should get in w/out Monk getting in as well, but both are HOF's. I don't know about # of HOF's for the Boy's, but as i posted earlier some Dan Snyder hatred has affected and will affect some of the voters.

Someone I know brought up a good point. If Jack Kent Cooke were still alive Monk would probably be in by now.
