Re: Parcells and T.O
Thanks dmek,
i was sulking for awhile there but Free agency and the draft have brought me back. When your team doesn't make the playoffs - playoffs? Playoffs?! - you don't feel like chatting about the L. But hope springs eternal, and this is a new year.... |
Re: Parcells and T.O
5rings, if theres anyone you REALLY should worry about, its bledsoe. hes notorious for ego and i have this feeling that TO will be on his best behavior this year. if he starts giving it to TO i believe TO will dish it right back
I would be worried about another game like Dallas had against the Skins in game 2 last year. I'm not gloating, I'm just saying that that is the type of game that I don't think TO could handle without going off. |
Re: Parcells and T.O
I would love it if he went off after a game like that. We played like the game was fixed. People needed to man up a little and all we got was p*$$y.
Our line last year - well you can't make chicken salad out of chicken s&!t. |
Re: Parcells and T.O
Yeah, he'll still make an impact, but is he going to reach everyone's expectations of playing like he did with the eagles (1st year), I wouldn't think so. He has a lot of learning to do and at this stage of his career and his behavioral issues, I don't think he is very conducive to learning new things.
And what might happen if the media says that he is good but not as good as with Philly and SF - that might affect him even more. I tend to go back to measuring success in relation to expectations.
Quote from GMU basketball coach Larranaga, after being asked a question (after his team's loss to Florida) about repeating his recent run to the final four, next year: "the greater the expectation, the greater the pressure and the more likely you fall short" It's encouraging from a personal point of view to see a sports figure with his recent success to reiterate some similar philosophy (expectations and measure of success). |
Re: Parcells and T.O
well 5 rings, your coach said it best, you are what you are

Re: Parcells and T.O
if i'm dallas, i'd be worried about the sluggish secondary. one somewhat fast corner that's over 30, and a bunch of slow dbs vs redskins 4 fast WRs and fast RB = a bad matchup.
What somewhat fast cb over 30 you mean Glenn, well first you have to great cbs in newman who is the fastest and Henry who got hurth last year but was playing great before he got hurth. The only some what slow db is Roy but he was playing out of position he has to play closer to teh line and attack the middle range passes we need a true FS to be the last man out there and I believ we will adress it in the Draft |
Re: Parcells and T.O
talk about wishful thinking... where are you getting the rest of your oline and how are your dbs going to keep up with the skins WRs? line up 20 yards deep and see if we can complete uncontested slants and use open running lanes?
ok we upgraded the line by adding fabini getting back Adams that's the thing that hurth us the must and signing Kyle Kosier it isn't the best Oline but we sure did an upgrade. again you talk about or dbs when yo ushould be more worried about your own dbs against glenn, TO, Crayton and Witten both teams have weapons we'll have to see who use them better. |
Re: Parcells and T.O
Hmmm, that's interesting because in TO's last 3 games against Dallas (including the partial game in which he broke his leg), TO had 13 catches for 208 yards and 3 TDs.......so by implication......
I agree with you that Dallas's running game stands to benefit from TO being there......but against us I'm just not worried. If he ever got the better of us, I might be concerned......but we've consistently shut him down regardless of the offense he's playing for, even when all the other teams in the NFL got torched by him.
ok I don't count the first game as an eagle with Owens because our defense wasn't as good that year as it was last year and we will get better this year after all our rookies have 1 year under their belt. he didn't play you last year but when he played us he only had 5 catches for 50 yards, sure Moss dominated our defense, but we controlle other wr like Smith, Burres, Williams etc.. and again we jsut need to upgrade the FS spot. |

So maybe you upgraded some spots on your o-line, but do you really think that they will gel this quickly? Look at how long it takes o-lines to really come together... |

We can get worse than last year so that's an upgrade of some sorts, really I don't expect then to go to the pro bowl or become all-pro they just have to be better then last year o-line thats not asking a lot. |
Re: Parcells and T.O
I think regardless of what the teams do in the draft and from here on in free agency the NFC East will be a SLUGFEST. Every team has a legitimate reason why they could win the division, and every team has at least one pitfall.
As far as TO in Dallas, I also think it depends on your line. People are going to blitz the hell out of you early to see if you can stop it. If you can, then you'll have a good season. If people keep Bledsoe on his back there's very little TO can do. I actually feel our secondary matches up very well with you. I'm willing to let Archeletta play the run a majority of the time. Springs / Taylor leaning towards TO and Rodgers on Glenn. I'll take Washington on Witten matchup as each player making big plays from time to time. I'm not even so sure we double TO, we'll see. That said, what exactly is happening in Dallas with offensive coordinator? If I remember correctly, Payton left, if this is true, who took over, and are the running the same / similar / totally different system? (Hurray for run-ons!) |
Re: Parcells and T.O
Palmer took over for Peyton he was the O. Coord for Houston and a Parcell guys he took the Qb. coach spot and was the Qb coach in New England when Bledsoe reach the SB and had his best season.
I also see the NFC East as the toughest division, this is going to be a verry good year. |

If it's true that the off. coordinator has left - that environment is ripe for a TO outbreak. A coach that rides you like a mechanical bull, a qb that is emotional and outspokenly honest at times (esp. at the wr), and now a sense of instability with a new offensive coordinator. I'd be a little worried if I was a cowboys fan, but I'm not :) ... |
Re: Parcells and T.O
Daseal,
Our line will be better. We were trying to play with a FA and a Sixth rounder at our Tackle positions last year, it will be better. Also, Washington can't cover Witten, just like Ware couldn't cover Cooley last year. LB's can't cover Pro Bowl TE's or Pass Catching FB's for more than 5-7 yards, they just do not have that kind of Ability. Your defense will have to do what people do against your offense, cheat/blitz/rattled the QB so he doesn't see Cooley/Witten open 12 yds downfield. |
