Good Ridance. Some true Redskin! As much as he talked team, He always seemed to make statements at just the wrong time to disrupt things. All he really cared about was the money. Don't wine about him being gone. We'll be better without him. Let him get burned on the Gaints.
Some people have not matured to the point where they can respectfully disagree with an individual's opinion and not want to personally attack that individual. I think we all have a right to speak truthfully about Lavar's tenure here whether it's in flourishing terms or not. I encourage all who have an opinion about Lavar to tell it the way you see it. Because I have certainly lost all respect for him and his trust in a greedy, incompetent agent who almost wathced his client be overlooked in free agency due to the unrealistic money he thought Lavar was worth. Lavar didn't understand GW's plan when he played for us, so what makes some people think he will understand Al Saunders plays?

I'm not hating on Arrington. I wish him the best and would even like to see him be as good as the hype surrounding him says he should be...except when he plays us...then I hope he is old, slow and clueless.

IMO he was never as good as his Press clippings. He wa good but he was supposed to be great. He put forth great effort when he was on the field and I respect him for that. His outbursts and drama became tiresome, he didn't want to be here any longer and he didn't fit Joe Gibbs mold for some reason. Gibbs is a winner, always has been so if he says Arrington didn't fit here anymore that is good enough for me.

Lavar, thanks for the memories, the great hits and the entertaining interviews. Thanks for the hopes and dreams you inspired(but only seldom lived up to...honestly) that kept us going through the leaner years. Times are better now. We've got something bigger than Arrington and it's called WINNING...I wish him luck. I wont look back...no need to.

I hope Eli keeps throwing to Toomer so the Grim Reaper can abuse him some more.

Kudos to LA for soaking the Giants for $49 mil. I hope the Postons worked his contract so he gets paid whether he's on the field, on the sidelines, or on a hospital bed. I like Lavar and thought he was a good teammate while he was here. He had issues with the management, but considering the circumstances, I really couldn't blame him. Time to move on. I do think he'd be way overpaid if he gets every penny of that contract, but I don't see that happening either. As an aside, I would be curious to see if Troy Aikman starts hating on the Giants now that LA is there.

For a QB his age he's not too shabby. In fact I think he's a better runner than Manning, and he's nearly twice his age.

He had a few critical runs for first downs last year.

We don't win the first Dallas game if Brunell doesn't scramble for about 25 yards on 3rd and a mile.

The contract is highly detailed and jam-packed with incentives. The only accuracy to the reported seven-year, $49 million contract figure is that it indeed is a seven-year deal. Arrington's signing bonus is $5.25 million; there are no option bonuses. There are roster bonuses in future years but they can only be triggered if Arrington achieves certain honors such as Pro Bowls and MVP awards.

There are playing-time incentives in the deal, protecting the Giants in case Arrington's right knee does not hold up. It is the very definition of a make-good deal, giving Arrington the opportunity to get paid like a star only if he plays like one. The only way he can approach earning $49 million is if he hits every single incentive during the life of the contract. Without factoring in any incentives, the contract is worth about $3.7 million per year and rises to $5 million per year if he hits the more reasonable incentives.

His contract is kinda like him as a player.

Sounds great on paper, doesn't live up to the hype.

Re: Lavar and Giants agree on deal
I object to you putting Monk, Sanders, Brown and Mosely (NFL MVP) in the same sentence with Lavar. They are champions and that is their legacy. Lavar's legacy is based on what should have been. He didn't even win a division title let alone a Lombardi trophy. He signs the largest deal in team history and then publicly complains that he was cheated out of 6.5 million. Last year he didn't even record one sack and when the team is preparing for the playoff game he tries to make his situation the public focus. He had no problem cashing that check every week and making stupid Eastern motors commercials when the team was the laughing stock of the league. Then he goes out of his way to play for a division rival.

Why does he deserve respect, because he gave Aikman his 20th concussion during a loss?
I especially like the last sentence you wrote there. It really speaks volumes about how low this franchise had sunk since Gibbs left the first time. We used to be a franchise whose fans expected at the very least to make and advance to the playoffs every year. And then we started becoming satisfied with minor "moral" victories like our star LB knocking out an aging QB who had been through countless concussions already. And as you say, this was during a loss no less. Our expecations for the team had become so low that we suddenly didn't even care that our franchise players (such as LaVar) weren't making the team any better. So long as they gave us this one highlight reel.

Well, the best part (or one of the best parts) about Gibbs return is that he's reminded all us fans that our expectations should be high. That we shouldn't be satisfied with the occassional big play. No, we should demand and expect a winning team year in and year out.

I'm not saying LaVar is entirely to blame for the endless problems that surrounded his tenure here. And there's no need to badmouth him as leaves. But we shouldn't be satisfied when we look back on his tenure here by saying well he intercepted a pass against the Panthers, and he knocked out Troy Aikman. More was expected of him, and he should have provided more. He may do very well with the Giants, and maybe he'll help them win division titles, playoff games, and even more. But he didn't do that for us. And we're starting to win without him.

Ok, now I'm just rambling. Point is-good luck lavar but I think we'll be ok without him

Re: Lavar and Giants agree on deal

I was hoping he would leave the Division too....but there were reasons he did not play more than he did the last two years. Sometimes when players are so resentful of the team they left and want to come back and trash them, they put more pressure on themselves and can't perform like they want. We'll just hope that's how it is.

Re: Lavar and Giants agree on deal

I think LaVar will go to NY and have a very good year. He's had a full year to re-hab and reflect. New system, new perspective. People may say, well he didn't flourish here like he was supposed to. Who could with what, five defensive coordinators? And still he managed three Pro-Bowls?

Whether people take LaVar's side or the coaches side, he's still a tremendous talent. No denying that. And I for one, wouldn't bet on him having a mediocre year or getting burned on plays.

Bottom-line, we'll have to just wait until October on this one. If I were a betting man, I would put my money on LaVar to have a good season.
Not good. But if anyone will know how to exploit him it will be Gibbs / Williams. I am worried about him and Pierce and our signals, though.
Why worry? It wasn't like he paid attention to them the first time around. :)
