Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?
we still have a first round pick though if it happens, so instead of getting just 1 player at 6 we get a pro bowler who is in his prime and a low first round pick. i think a lot of people are reacting poorly because they are excited about the draft and want to see us have a high pick, or have their hearts set on trading down. this trade wouldnt be as bad as its made out to be. there are tons of good DE's in this draft, and from what ive heard from sirius nfl radio good prospects at DE can be had later on in the 1st round and even the 2nd round. they even said the DE prospects are all very similar throughout the top part

Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?
My only real problem with this trade is we just traded up last year to get Rocky McIntosh and then we signed London Fletcher-Baker earlier this month. Add that to Marshall and Washington and why do we need another LB?
Is my radical plan of moving Marshall to safety happening? Are they switching to at 3-4? Is Rocky going to be some sort of jack-of-all-trades backer off the bench? Is MW still hurt and are they looking to move him next? On the other hand, are we just an intermediary party for Briggs to get to another team? Might be a bit off the wall thinking, but what if Team X is saying to us "Yeah, we'd love to trade you those picks but we're holding out for Briggs" Then we come back and say "Hey, we just got Briggs you want him you give us those picks" |
Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?
i think we are truely over-valuing marshall. he is an ok player, but nowhere near the level of briggs. rocky can play all 3 spots so he will see plenty of time this year. i think if an outsider were to give their opinion on marshall they would think that he could easily be upgraded. solid backup, but not as good a starter as we are making him out to be

Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?
I hope it goes through as reported so I can once again say I was right!
The very fact that this trade has so much as an once of truth to it just shows how utterly stupid Gibbs and co. truely are. They have learned absolutly nothing from the AA signing last off season, we are not talking about Lawerence Taylor or Sean Merriman here, [who we could have drafted if we had half a brain] we are talking about a good LB in a system that is designed to accent his production, Lovey is very good at this as we discovered with AA, and here we are on the verge of doing it again, the funny thing is if the player we just had to have last draft Rocky, [no relation to Stallone] had been drafted by the Bears we would probably be talking about possible rookie of the year honors for him on defense. Just the fact that there is a rumor like this out there makes us look like what we are, the laughing stock of the NFL. Gibbs on the other hand needs to see a Psychiatrist, because he is off the wall crazy to make any kind of deal for a LB that will cost us what little draft picks we have, let alone one that will cost us our #6 pick. This rumor just can't be true, there is no way that they could be that stupid! |

Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?
well marshall is 30 and will be 31 in december and washington is turning 30 this year, fletcher is 32 so we arent exactly youthful at the linebacker position, this would help
We could wind up with Briggs and a DE like Anthony Spencer, or another stud at DE of DT, which might be what the Skins are thinking. I think the draft is about seven deep in quality DE's and three deep in DT's. However, I still don't like it. I'd rather have Okoye, Anderson, Carriker, or Adams. Adams, by the way, has plenty of room on his frame to bulk up without cutting his speed and Carriker is the best DL on the board in relation to effectiveness against both the pass and the run. |
Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?
Something that was allegedly on a scroll at the bottom of a screen is a shaky basis for speculation. They might have left off important additional information about such a trade. Whoever puts those things on the scroll wants to get people stimulated so they will want to watch their network.
An actual verbal report would at least be somewhat more substantial, and even that anything but certainly reliable in my view. |

Even when you're wrong you still find some way to say you're right. I hope the trade doesn't go through. Not so I can say "Hey Grim21Reaper and I are right, the team is making smart decisions this offseason," but because it's the best move for the team in my opinion. I guess being right or wrong doesn't seem to matter as much to some of us as it does to others |

Actually me being right seems to matter a whole lot to you, why? Because it usually means your wrong. |

PHOENIX -- While a proposal has yet to be formalized, the Washington Redskins will make a trade offer to the Chicago Bears aimed at acquiring two-time Pro Bowl weakside linebacker Lance Briggs, agent Drew Rosenhaus and two league sources told ESPN.com late Monday night. Washington will propose a swap of first-round draft picks in this year's draft -- the Redskins own the sixth overall selection and Chicago has the 31st choice in the lottery -- in exchange for Briggs. The potential deal, which is expected to pick up steam on Tuesday morning as the annual NFL meetings continue here, would be contingent on the Redskins signing Briggs to a long-term contract. Re: NFL Network: Bears' Briggs, 31st Pick for Skins' 6th Pick?
Why is everyone asking if the Redskins are switching to a 3-4 deffense? I am not sure I am following the thinking. Is it because of the amount of LB's we would have if we got Briggs? I mean the Bears ran a 4-3 last year with Briggs on the weak side. So where are these thoughts of the Redskins switching to a 3-4 coming from?
I imagine the Bears are like a little kid on christmas eve waiting on our proposal! They get rid of a player who doesn't want to be there for the 6th pick in the draft, and will proably plug another no name in there and not miss a beat next season. Then we can talk all year on why Briggs isn't as good with us as he was with the Bears, Rocky can then finish the year as the weakside LB. Briggs is not Wilbur Marshall! |
