I think Carey would be a good pick up for us. It would allow us to pick up either a DE or LB at #13 or trade down.
Ya well too bad Carey just got signed to a 6 year deal to stay in Miami... Slim pickings now in free agency... |
Re: Your Thoughts on the D-line...
Funny how we were expecting teams to let their best players walk. Let's draft high quality and develop our own future. All the big name FA were resigned or franchised by the same teams that DRAFTED them.

Re: Your Thoughts on the D-line...
Vinny Cerrato was just on redskins radio. After being very ambiguous in answering pretty much everything, he casually mentioned that Phillip Daniels would be a free agent on February 27th.... even though his contract goes through 2010 according to this site. i'm thinking he didnt realize what he was saying and let something slip. Good news IMO. We would be foolish to bring back a 36-year old DE whos had injury problems in recent years.
This could also be a sign we plan to keep Evans and/or Taylor.
He didn't let anything slip, the last 2 years on Daniels' contract is voidable and the Skins appear that they will indeed let him become a FA and maybe try to re-sign him at a lower figure. |
Re: Your Thoughts on the D-line...
My thoughts on the d-line are:
Cut JT and his 8.5 mil salary Sign Marcus Washington to a 4 mil a yr. contract Spend the other 4.5 mil on another player like Chris Canty or Dre Bly..whoever... Halfway kidding....only halfway.....WTF..why not? |

I'm not halfway kidding. |

I won't be surprised to see Marcus flourish in a different system. He doesn't have the range to play SLB in our 4-3 but I'll bet money he'd be a hell of a ILB in a 3-4 system. He's got the size, the ability to shed blockers and can still smash ball carriers all day long. ... i don't see him in Philly. |
Re: Your Thoughts on the D-line...
Our D-Line is in shambles IMO. It was bad enough last year, but Griffin and Carter are a year older, and probably a year slower. Who knows if Daniels/Evans/Montgomery/Griffin will be back...their all FA's. And none of them are truly starting caliber. You think Taylor was garbage last year? I guarantee you he will try even less in what might be the last year of his career. He doesnt care about Washington DC, and he has been "dancing" his way into retirement since last year while he robs us blind of 8.5 mil this year.

This is a product of an FO that is run like a bunch of 5th graders with A.D.D. their philosophy has been to build from the outside in and it has now caught up to them. The next few weeks will tell us all if they've learned anything about football or not. |

If this happens, then it is no one's fault but just how things turn out to be. He was injured a lot and would have affected our cap number had he stayed with us. If he goes to the Eagles (or any other team) and succeeds then good for him, but I hope people don't come back and b!tch about it. |

So going after the best DE available, who happened to register 11 sacks the previous season, was a terrible move? Can you please tell me of the psychic that told you Jason Taylor was going to have a terrible injury this past season before the Redskins traded for him (b/c you obviously you knew that), so I can ask about winning lottery numbers? And you're guaranteeing that Jason is going to have a garbage year? You're that tight with him that he told you that? Maybe you should convince him to retire then. |

Maybe you should convince him to retire then.
Yea I must be what you call "psychic" because I was pissed as hell the moment we made this trade. Call me "psychic that I thought a 34 year old DE who spent his whole off season promoting his celebrity status might not work out. Call me "psychic" that I didn't think a player who was traded 3 weeks before our first game would be an instant impact. Call me "psychic" that I was very unhappy that our largest DE was 250lbs. Call me "psychic" that I was uncomfortable with the fact that Parcells wanted to get rid of him, and not even for a 1st rounder. Hey and you know what, since I'm apparently "psychic" I will magically predict that a man who just sucked the previous season, has no loyalty to his team, is old as dirt, is going to retire next season and who is unwilling to take a paycut will not deliver on the field? If it was about anything but the money for Taylor at this point he would recognize that he is getting extremely overpaid and take the cut to help out his team. Seriously, If it's not worth it for him to play for 6 million, when he is still worth less, it's clearly all about the money. When a player doesnt give a shit in his final season, he will suck. Period. Oh and BTW, I told him to retire now, but he said back to me that 8.5 mil in easy money was worth one more season...but no less. |

I don't doubt he could come back strong. The big question is can he stay healthy. |
Re: Your Thoughts on the D-line...
I really wasn't advocating that we should have kept Mr. Washington. I was simply stating that it would be our luck that this scenario could happen. Seems that when we part ways with a good player he goes elsewhere (particularly a division rival) and has a career year just to spite the redskins.
