Re: Vick signs with the Eagles
If you're listening to the WJFK the fan. They're talking about Vick right now and I just called in said that Vick won't be the same player because he'll have lost his speed.
Lavar thought that was ridiculous and starting going off about it...LOL...I thought it was funny. Anyway, if you heard it, that was me who called in from Manasssas : ) |
I am not afraid to go out on a limb here.
This is horrible for anyone who is not an Eagles fan. I applaud the Eagles for ignoring the backlash. I think it is foolish to think that Andy Reid will not find ways for this man to make huge plays for them. He brings a skillset possesed by no others.... Congrats to the Eagles for thinking about football first instead of marketing.
I think you will find many sports media outlets praising the Eagles in a similar manner. Honestly, I feel it's a gamble no matter who would have taken him. I couldn't help it, but I think if the Redskins had picked up Vick, many people would have thought the following... "The Redskins are naive for ignoring how much of a distraction Vick will bring. It is foolish for the team to think that he still has the same skills he had before and that he will make a difference. Snyder has once again brought a big name to sell more jerseys instead of thinking about football first." |
Re: Vick signs with the Eagles
I am soooo thankful it's the Eagles and not us. Thank you for holding off Mr. Snyder!
First you got Orakpo over Sanchez, then you steered clear of Vick...BRAVO! |
Re: Vick signs with the Eagles
From the blackbirds to the shitbirds. Real nice, I can only hope they implode.
And my the owner's attitude sure has changed over time. What a RETARD! Closing remarks: FCK philly and vick! Re: Vick signs with the Eagles
The fact that he isn't going to be the starting quarterback means he won't be much of a threat at all. Teams were afraid of him because he could run at any time and since he is so talented and quick, he could break for huge runs.
But now when he comes in off the sideline for Philly, everyone on the defense and their brother are gonna know what kind of play is gonna be run. Its stupid. I'm not worried about it all. |
Re: Vick signs with the Eagles
And for any Philly fans who think he will be the second coming of Randall Cunningham, there is zero chance

Re: Vick signs with the Eagles
We should have... When Segal was at the Redskins practice the other day, we knew he had to be there because it was close to Baltimore or Philly. Philly makes perfect sense. They run the WCO system with a mobile QB as a starter and their backup QB just got injured. They have a no-nonsense coach and Front Office. Its a perfect situation for Vick. The only good news for us is he'll either suck horribly or play his way into a starting position somewhere else. Either way, he'll only play for them one year.
BHA, I'm going to point out that you're on record describing Campbell and the WCO as a poor combination. Why on God's green earth would Vick be a better fit?
A west coast offense is only different from any other offense because of the empahsis on getting the ball out of the QB's hands quickly. This would be precisly how you get all the worst qualities out of Michael Vick. If you are going to play with Vick, you spread the defense horizontally and work from there. |
Re: Vick signs with the Eagles
The Vick conundrum: he's an amazing talent, but the offense that squeezes the most out of his potential doesn't currently exist. You'd have to learn, and spend months teaching an offense built around Vick to his supporting cast. However, Vick would be the only player who could run this offense, and he's not a very durable player. So when he gets hurt, all you have is a foreign offense and a backup who can't run it (See: Michigan. 2008).
Essentially, the opportunity cost of doing what it takes to make Michael Vick a great NFL player is not worth the risk of the ultimate failure of the plan once implemented. Ergo, Vick will never be a valuable NFL player. |

Also, while he won't even be available til week 6, unless McNabb goes down for good, Vick's option (the eagles option on him) is 5.2 mil next year. The odds that he stays with the Eagles are pretty slim. He was never a good QB to begin with, but an amazing scrambler. If he lost a step, he's not worth anything. |

Got to give the Iggles some credit for guts there. As for the second point, right on. He's 29 and if he didn't lose a step in prison, he will soon. And without that speed Vick has little to contribute. |
Re: Vick signs with the Eagles
There's a really good article about Vick and the Eagles on espn.com by Mosley. Couldn't post it but it asks the question, "Vick needs the Eagles, but why do they need him?". Mosley thinks they've made a mistake and Vick will become a bigger distraction than T.O. ever was.

Re: Vick signs with the Eagles
People want to say a lot of things about Vick. But what I heard from his pratice with the Eagles he is not looking that bad and knows the basic formations of the "WCO" which we run. Hmmm. So if Vick will be with the Eagles this year and maybe next year. He might end up being somone that will keep continuity if McNabb goes down and also a threat to run the ball (via wildcat formation). Either way. Its not good for us. Hmmm. How does our QB situation look? Not that good. Vick would change the dynamics of our offense and also would give us a better back up plan if JC didn't work out. Too bad now. Now we have to face him twice a year. Only once this year. The project could fail. But it could be a success and lead to us getting our ass whipped by the Eagles. Because we aren;t that good with mobile QBs and out LBs are looking suspect this year.

Re: Vick signs with the Eagles
A good move for Vick. McNabb wont be intimidated by his presence and should provide good guidance. It think it might work out well for MV.
Not really. The fans will turn on him quick and severely WHEN he doesn't play up to his promises of "I can still run as fast and throw as far and I work out now, I never did before...". If he does perform well, the fans will begin their annual "throw McNabb outta town" campaign and distract the team. Philly is a huge dogfighting venue too, so he's going to be expected to do that much more "I'm sorry, don't dogfight, kids" campaigning. Then of course, there is the clash of the circus freaks: PETA vs. Philly fans. It's going to be a disaster for the team. I love it. Also...McNabb says he's playing WR and TE...just hilarious...Orakpo would be covering him at TE...say goodbye to their QB if this happens. :) |

Campbell is a far better QUARTERBACK than Vick. Vick was a horrible QB...look at the passing stats. |
