HOW WOULD YOU TRY TO FIX THINGS?? |
Re: Now What??
What now? Well, this is where GTripp works his magic and shows everyone that the problems weren't all Zorns and JC. He points out that certain players didn't make plays. He shows that if they work hard on correcting their mistakes then we will be fine. In other words calming everyone down by pointing out the positives instead of the negatives which causes half the board to hold on to their faith that Zorn will figure this thing out and we will make the play offs.
No offense GTripp. I like you work. :) I'll just keep praying Zorn is done sometime this yr. If we decide to cut Zorn during the season then we need a WCO HC. If we wait....we can try to pick anyone.
Nothing I do can critique the way that Zorn prepares a team during the week. I have no idea if that's a problem or not. During the game, I'm not sure what Zorn could have done differently. Campbell had no protection all day, and he put the football on the ground way too many times and a lot of his throws under pressure were uncharacteristically careless. I think Zorn sort of pussed out on some 3rd and short calls in the 3rd and 4th quarter, but that's not why we lost. The defense is awful. I have no idea what's wrong with Carlos Rogers. He's always had trouble with bigger, more physical receivers, but when was the last time he went a whole game without making a play? Smoot is awful. Hall is only good when compared to Smoot. The run defense in this game was horrific, and that will probably be the focus of the defensive game review. Fletcher played hard, and Haynesworth was incredible, but the defensive line as a whole got it's ass kicked. I'm thinking (but will wait to confirm) that Golston is a major problem. Daniels has been terrible two out of three weeks. McIntosh may or may not have done poorly, but he didn't show up in the stat sheet at all. Bottom line, it's easy to control the clock when you can run the ball on both first and second down and have no doubt that if the defense slows you down at all, they'll just give you an easy completion on third down. It was our worst offensive performance of the three games this season, but it was quite possible our worst defensive performance of the last 6 years. |
Re: Now What??
Or I fire him and make Joe Bugle the head coach

Re: Now What??
Start over now, he we suck and we know it so losing won't hurt as much if we know we will be a different team nxt year.
If Betts gets cut (which I hope he does) I would play Mason and Alridge a lot.
You just want to cut and fire everyone don't you? |
Re: Now What??
Going for it on 4th is the correct call. The play call was completely obvious and uninspired, but you should go for it there. You've got to assume your defense will not give up a 99 yard drive. They are supposed to be "great" right? (Yeah right). Not declining the penalty was completely inexcusable. He should be fired for that alone.
Still, Campbell did not play well. There is absolute no timing or rhythm to his game. He is inconsistent and you cannot absolve him from the problems on this team. The thing is that he is one of many problems. (Chad Rhinehart is not an NFL player and they had to help him all day long (because he was getting beaten the whole first half until they started giving him help on every play). But Campbell played very poorly today. I think you have to come to the conclusion that he is not the long-term answer for this team.
I never ever said he played great but he is not blame for the lost. Just look at the time of possession which makes the declined penalty look even worse. |
Re: Now What??
Blache is such a major problem.
The Offensive Line is really bad. Ugghhhh. |
Re: Now What??
What we really need to do is get some dynamite, and a few matches, and....
Blache is such a major problem. The Offensive Line is really bad. Ugghhhh.
What could possibly be the cause of poor O-line play? :D |

HOW WOULD YOU TRY TO FIX THINGS??
Well the offensive line needs time to gel with Rinehart in at RG. He, personally, did not look bad (although, when I watch the tape, if they were covering from him right from the get go...), but there was certainly an overcompensation factor by Rabach and Heyer. So what do you do to buy time for the offense if you can't run the ball? You either have to be strong on defense, or you lose a bunch of games to questionable teams. Is the defense fixable? I don't know. The secondary is just awful right now. It's the worst unit on the entire team. The receivers have passed them. If the defense has top ten ability hidden somewhere in it, you can salvage the season. If it's just 2006 all over again, we probably have to watch a struggling offense and an underachieving defense the next four weeks through the bye. If the offensive line stays healthy, they should gel and we can get a lot better in the second half of the year. But you have to win games in the intermediate, and well, Detroit just kicked the crap out of us. |

HOW WOULD YOU TRY TO FIX THINGS??
Have Snyder put the team up for sale on EBay. |
Heyer and Rhineharts run blocking ability is a moot point because all Zorn wants to do is run left. I sware I've said it before but it's almost like he thinks he has Jones and Hutchinson on the left side. |
