Re: Looking ahead, it's only going to get worse
i think the redskins will play better against better competition but the end results will be the same. the skins almost always play to the level of their apponent.

OMG! That article in your sig describes my feelings in the most exact way possible. "The only thing [Dan Snyder] can do to help [his] team at this point is to walk in front of an oncoming cement mixer. Way to ruin everything, shithead. DIE." ... and that's about the only way the Skins will get better. The other ways would be to substitute the cement mixer for some other piece of heavy machinery. |
Re: Looking ahead, it's only going to get worse
Before the season started I was predicting we'd go 12-4, and was depending on our defense to win a few games for us. Now it looks like 4-12, but I don't know where the other w is coming from. Maybe Oakland.

Re: Looking ahead, it's only going to get worse
its going to get worse? dang it i just gave my "its always darkest right before sunrise" speech the other day.
things are bleek in skinsville. so bleek that the chicken littles are to sad to harp and the optimists are to sad to hope. |
Re: Looking ahead, it's only going to get worse

Re: Looking ahead, it's only going to get worse
I agree with most of you but these changes you won't see. Basically you and I are writing off the season with the reality check that was written, but anyone as a HC in Zorn's position has to believe in his system and keep plugging along in hopes that they catch a break and win a few games. If Zorn is going to write off the season he might as well sign his own pink slip, saying my system does not work so let me play all the young guys so they will have in game experience for the future that I won't be a part of. Not going to happen.
Now if they bring in a new HC he may want to play the young guys more to see what is servicable and what is not. This way he knows what he has going into the next draft. I just have a hard time believing DS is the boy in the plastic bubble. He does not read the papers? He does not listen to the radio? He owns a sports franchise and he doesn't watch ESPN? I would hate to think he has so secluded himself from society that he has no clue that the fans are pissed, that everyone to include fans, media, and any prospect HC's don't like Vinny cause he's an not that great at what he's supposed to be doing. DS has to know by now that in order to get the HC talent he wants Vinny must go and he needs to take a back seat approach. I picture the whole Elvis circle of friends hovering around him keeping him from seeing, reading, or hearing anything negative about him or his football team. He will have a rude awakening at the future home games if he is oblivious. BOOOO BOOOO |
Re: Looking ahead, it's only going to get worse
How is it that Jeremy Bridges wasn't good enough to make a team with a cruddy O-line, but he can make the active roster of a team that was in Super Bowl last year? And didn't he start 14 games last year for the Panthers... one of the most dominant run teams of a year ago??? I wonder if we could use him right about now.

Re: Looking ahead, it's only going to get worse
I predict that we turn it around, go 8-3 from now, finish 10-6, and make it to the NFC championship game.
There. Someone had to say it. |

bumpy implies that we'll have upward movement
If we do get a top 5 pick and there's a QB there that is a potential franchise QB, i think you've got to take him.
If I'm the skins, i'm trading away players for picks, picks, and more picks. The more picks the more olineman we can draft. Maybe Vinny can hit on one or two.
We don't really have many desirable players though.. the only ones that might get some interest are on the back end of their contracts, which means that they're getting paid about 3x current worth. |
Re: Looking ahead, it's only going to get worse
The optimist in me feels the need to point out that we often rise to the occasion against division rivals. See last year: we lost to the Rams, Bengals, and Niners, but swept the Iggles and split with the Boys.
I'm not saying that everything is ok. I'm just saying that it might not be as bad as it seems. We could be 4-3 at the bye.
We will not sweep the Eagles this year. Shoot they look just as strong or stronger with Kolb in there. Maclin is going to be hot with Donovan there. Split with the Boys is quite possible, if not probable. Gmen are just too strong. WE can beat the AFC West for sure, but ATL and NO, forget about it. Too many weapons with those two teams and our running game is suffering. Shoot, NFL.com fantasy writers say to trade Portis ASAP( I have him). Realistically, the best we can hope for is 7-9. You can't expect to beat those NFC powerhouses scoring only 14-17 points. Our D is good, but has only gone up against one top notch team all year(NY) and the Gmen are stronger now than then, as they are running on all cylinders. If we lose to KC next weekend it is going to be 5-11 or 6-10. Fans need to start carrying anti Snyder signs into Fedex and wear bags on their heads, or better yet not show up. This needs to go on for a while, but it will get media attention and Snyder's ass will be held accountable. People really were starting to harp on the Fords and all those blackouts Detroit has had the past few seasons caught up to them. Snyder has no reason to change direction if he is maxing out the profits still. |
