So how are we feeling about Mike Williams at RG?
I spoke on the warpath that I liked this move before when they did it and I really think he can become the starter at the RG position.

I wasn't meaning take him in the first round with a top 10 pick. I think he'll be a late first/early to mid 2nd.

Yeah, my bad. I misread your post and since edited mine.

Big Mike at Guard offers help for our pass protecting line, but if you have him and Dock at the Guards, the zone running game is completely valueless.
I'm not claiming to be a football expert by any means, but isn't the transition to safety easy compared to DB?
Not that easy as you think.. I played CB in my first football year but then moved over to safety at second year; it was difficult for me at first, I had to learn how to read everything.. While I was CB, all I needed to do is to cover my area or stay with the man all the way - not so difficult thing to do..
If we can get an extra pick in the 2nd or early 3rd, I'd go for Nate Allen out of USF

can Rogers play FS?
Maybe Hall can?

I mean, with his ball skills, maybe he'd be most valuable playing the deep middle? Perhaps he's just out of position at corner?

This is true.. Which presents us another reason not to make Portis #1 next season, we will need RBs who can make quick and shifty moves.. Take the game today as an example; I remember there were like three times or so where Cartwright or Ganther could have been taken down behind the scrimmage line but thanks to their shifty moves, they managed to make defender to miss tackles before the scrimmage line..

Hmm I think that is definitely something to think about..

I don't know how comfortable I would be with Hall playing FS with his suspect tackling skills and not to mention he's only 185 lbs.

Right now, our biggest defensive issue is that our free safety wants to lay out anything that moves. I think Hall would be an excellent coverage free safety.

Rogers and Barnes at the corners in '10.
I don't know how comfortable I would be with Hall playing FS with his suspect tackling skills and not to mention he's only 185 lbs.
Well, that's the flip side, but if we go back to playing the FS 25 yards off the ball, tackling ability hardly matters.

One thing I have liked about the defense without Hall is how aggressive the corner play has been. Of course, aggressive does not necessarily = better, but I miss the days when we used to be physical with receivers. Of course, a lot of that might also been because Tryon was out, so Smoot/Rogers/Westbrook pretty much have to rough up the other team's corners to be successful.

Do you think we will bring Rogers back next year?

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Redskins vs. Saints)

I think we will if we can't get a third round pick for him on the market.

Of course, I think there's plenty of teams that will be willing to pay that price. I also think it would be a bad trade, assuming resigning him to a long-term deal is still an option. If it's not, well, it's a good price for one year of Rogers.

Of course, he will be 29 next season, so by "long-term" I mean, no more than 4 years.
