Re: Portis staying?
yeah what Favre did last night Crybaby Portis would never do....he came back in and could hardly put weight on his ankle...Portis would have never even attempted to go back in..he would just mouth off on the sidelines like he did in 2008 to Jim Zorn when he told him to "get the F out of my face"....

Re: Portis staying?
Did XBSVII say that portis is a piss poor blocker!?!?! You have just lost a lot of points man. Portis is one of the best passblockers in the league! Madden has said that like a thousand times! And "Crybaby Portis" has more 100+ yard games playing HURT than all the 100 yard games of all of our other runningbacks right now. so hush
BETTS RUNS IN A STRAIGHT LINE! The reason that i said that for every 3 or 4 yard run Betts has, CP would've gotten 6 or 8 is that Betts has no change of direction and doesn't shed tacklers. He makes a good quick first directional decision, "Oh, there's the hole. I'll go that way." and that's it. Once he passes the los, there is no razzle dazzle, to shedding, breaking ankles, creating a big run play. If they creat the perfect aisle that ANY back can run through, he will and may score, but Portis will make more even if it isn't there... and with our line, it never is. I don't mean to single out Sellers, but this is a team. This is a portis blog. People are throwing HIM under the bus as if he isn't one of the best out there. People are saying things like "He lost a step" which, though true, means little since so has a lot of people whoa re still monsters. Ray lewis is still a beast, but yeah, he lost a few. Favrecan still tern a good team to a great team and he obviously lost a step. People said CP was losing it after over 1400 yards behind a battered, mix and match, p.o.s. line and I'm here to say, back up and look at the whole picture. With no o-line, sellers job is even more important. He's giving the last hope of any help in a crappy run play that probably shouldn't have been called by a coach that shouldn't have been a head coach. AND ANOTHER THING Look at the stats yesterday in the colts game. See Reggie wayne? That's Santana any given sunday. Beat-up, double teamed, and fighting for every inch he gets. Now look at the OTHER receivers. THEY STEPPED UP! THe biggest play was an OFF TARGET PASS BY PEYTON MANNING!!! A receiver that ISN'T the number one guy had to turn in a really awkward angle and make a weird catch... AND HE DID IT! Nobody said, "Peyton should've placed it here, not there" with swiggly lines on the screen. they said "FIRST DOWN! AMAZING CATCH!!! Now when Jason made that 80 or so yard play in the last game, if it was dropped, it would go down as just another bad pass. Screw that! Randel el, Thomas, and Kelly are getting paid MILLIONS to make catches in the crunch and they aren't. PERIOD! |
Re: Portis staying?
Its like your living in a time portal. You are describing stuff Portis did 6 years ago...and you still talk about Santana like he is a true #1 receiver.
I'm done with this thread. Your ideas, while humorous, are utterly ridiculous. You made it sound like Portis was going out there every game this season and getting 150 yards..."razzle dazzle and shedding tackles" blah blah blah. Thats complete bullshit. You are watching a madden simulation obviously, because this season told a different story. Anybody on this site will back me on that. Portis could barely move this season. Every single back ran better than he did...the injury was the best thing that could ever happen to him, it gave our running game a chance to finally work...which it did until Betts got hurt. And you are crazy comparing Moss to Reggie Wayne....no way. I dont know how you can say these things....its clear that you might be seeking attention, which you are getting plenty of in this thread. I dont think you are a troll, but these portis comments aren't helping your case any.... |
Re: Portis staying?
Metal Gear is CRAZY! Favre practice in the offseason with a HIGHSCHOOL!!!!! He didn't touch a viking locker room till preseason and Portis did NOT refuse to. When you have a portis, LT, or Westbrook for a HB, you don't rist him in the preseason. If you think the head coach lets the player decide when they play, you're pretty slow. I don't see you complaining about MOSS riding pine all preseason. You don't risk established and proven players on preseason. WHat's the point?

We're pissing in the wind Snake. If the guy wants to think Portis is the best thing since sliced bread so be it. Some guys thought Marcus Mason was going to be our saviour remember? Some of these posts are pretty funny actually. Funny as I'm writing this they were talking about what Kyle Shanahan thinks of Portis on ESPN. He said he thinks Portis still has some value if he can regain his hunger and edge that he had earlier in his career. They commented that because of his disruption in the locker room he may be let go but he won't be until they have someone to replace him. |

Look at what i bolded and go slow. Jim Zorn, while he was here, absolutley could have pushed portis to practice and attend OTA's and stuff, but he didnt, because of Portis' butt-buddy relationship with DS. Zorn knew if Portis complained to Snyder, he would get his way. The Head Coach decides when a player plays, and when he practices. What has hurt us for so many years is that up until the arrival of Shanahan, we didn't have that rule. Even Joe Gibbs let Portis get away with too much. I'm with 53Fan....this guy probably has CP underwear and we are wasting our time trying to present to him facts. Facts that everyone else on this board appears to know but him....What's next, is he gonna say that Kyle Shanahan doesnt know what he's talking about??? this is nuts |
Re: Portis staying?
I never said portis is perfect, but the only hb that could bust 150+ with our line is retired, let me give Barry Sanders a call and see if we can suit him up for next year.
Also, I wasn't comparing moss to Reggie Wayne. My point was Reggie Wayne had crappy stats yesterday because he was double and tripple covered all game like they do Moss all the time. they didn't win on Reggie Wayne's shoulders, but on the number 2 and 3 receivers and BOTH tightends. You arn't paying attention at all. You heard "Moss is as good as Reggie Wayne" when i was saying Garcon and the rookie Collie did what Randal el and Thomas didn't do... STEP UP! |
Re: Portis staying?
Beniel,
#1 it is a Portis thread so why did bring up Sellers bashing his blocking abilities? #2 Your right Betts does run in a straight line. Plus he runs people over. Trucks them. #3 I know Portis is one of the best blockers, but had you read my whole statement you would have also learned I said basically our system sucked. The coach's could coach. These last 2 years under Zorn, Portis has not been himself. He too has whiffed on blocks letting JC get hammered. I also am not the one with the vasoline in hand. If we can retain Portis with out the high cost and Shanahan can reign him back in then mouth wise, practice wise, preseason wise, then I'm for keeping him for a few more years. I just doubt it happens. I thought I heard word that Shanahan was tired of Portis's antics while up in Denver which is why they wanted to trade him also. I doubt Shanahan will be playing games with the players. |

Re: Portis staying?
If Portis was such a savior over there, Shanahan and Denver would have never shipped his sorry ass over here. They were probably laughing because we were the new fools to be diagnosed with the Cancer that is CP.
Shanahan has been this road with him once before. I suspect it will go the same way...I say trade him for whatever you can get for him at this point. I'm thinking maybe a 3rd round pick that could become a 2nd rounder if certain conditions are met. |

The other guys have addressed your ramblings pretty well, but just some more stuff for you (read the parts on Portis): http://www.thewarpath.net/redskins-locker-room/33065-slingin-sammy-33s-eagles-game-review.html#post618433 From the Chiefs game: Stuff That Sucks - Portis' fumble - Portis loss of lateral quickness and explosiveness. Unfortunately this was made crystal clear on two plays: 1) Our second to last possession of the 1st half. 2 & 6, the pitch to Portis running left. The Safety closed in run support to Portis' outside, rather than attempt to beat the S to the sideline, Portis cutback inside for a gain of 1. Not only was this a bad decision, but it's an indication Portis knows he's lost his quickness. Portis from a couple of years ago would've outrun the S to the sideline and picked up 4 or 5 yards, no problem. 2) Last possession before the Safety, swing pass to Portis in the right flat. He's in the open field against a LB and can't make a move to get by the LB to pick up a few yards. Most backs will make this play, the bigger backs would run over the LB. Portis is stopped for a 2 yard gain. Portis' best days are in the rear view. He is simply a downhill, between the tackles runner, who isn't very big or very physical. Not a good recipe for a starting NFL RB....in the NFC East, no less. Portis' efforts for the Skins should be appreciated, he ran hard and had some good years here. But it's time to move on. And how many times this year did we see Portis trip over his own feet and fall down either before contact or at the slightest contact. C'mon man, you've got to be yanking our chains with this Portis bro-mance. |
Re: Portis staying?
Lately it seems anytime there's a CP thread, there's always one staunch supporter in the crowd that thinks he can do no wrong. Kinda weird.

It's Portis or one of his family members. We all know, "he don't make no mistakes!" |

It is really weird...but this is the worst case of it that i've seen. I really believe like Sammy said...he is having fun at our expense....some of the crap he said was ridiculous!! LOL at "Razzle Dazzle and shedding tackles this season"....wow |
