Re: Evaluating the Redskins Trade Bait:
I just looked up the pats
2011 9 total picks 4 in top 2 rounds 2010 12 total picks 4 in top 2 rounds 2009 12 total picks 4 in top 2 rounds I definately see a pattern...they average 10 picks a year over the last 7 years or so... But they only had 3 picks in the top 2 rounds total for the 2 years prior to this....I guess paying the price for a couple years can get you into a surplus mode like this. I really like the idea of making trades for future years as you always get a round higher in return... Heck...why not trade our whole damn draft for a round better next year....then next year we'd have something like 3 #1s (2nd from this year traded forward plus our 1st traded forward for 1st and 2nd) 2 #2s 1 #3 3 #4s (2 5ths from this year traded forward) 1 #5s 3 #6s (2 7ths from this year traded forward, whats a 7th worth anyways? why not?) 1 #7 There is something screwy with that valuation thing....its just no one has tried this yet....we may as well do it and go hard after free agents in this great market this year...and we could then trade some of these to forward years too...heck...anything over 10 picks is just waste anyways...they aint all gunna make the squad. We could do this in one year...it would be radical...but it just might work! |
Re: Evaluating the Redskins Trade Bait:
Skinsnut, I think you are on to something here. we're not going to get the franchise QB we covet in this draft regardless of who we trade. I think you're brilliant.

No need to further diminish the potential trade value of the two players on the team most people feel will eventually be traded. Time for everyone to rethink their positions in search of more favorable options. |

Oh and all of our players are horrible and couldn't start on any other team. |

Yet we could trade them all for high draft picks at will. |

And...since there will likely be a rookie cap...we'd only have to pay him minimum wage! |

The Future Is Now! Yes, our draft philosophy has got to change. Getting extra picks now and in the future is a wise thing. I'm in awe of how many damn picks, the Eagles get each year and the Pats get each year. BTW..check out this EXCELLENT, amazing article on how good the Pats draft. One of the other teams...91 Skins w/ Rypien, Sanders, Clark, etc. Check it out, amazing article. |
Re: Evaluating the Redskins Trade Bait:
Trade Haynesworth, Kyle Shanahan, Mike Shanahan, Jim Haslett, D. Hall, and Casey Rabach. Mike Shanahan isn't a winner unless he has Elway. I would rehire Bobby Mitchell. I'd also rehire Charley Casserly. Stay away from Joe Gibbs, even though I love what he did for the Redskins in the 80's, but this isn't the 80's. Plus he would give away all of the Redskins' draft choices. I'm just feeling like we're back to where we were with Spurrier. We've been starting over for the last ten years.

Dear god no, not Casserly. He can execute the strategy well, but his eye for talent is mediocre at the VERY best. |

Anyone with common sense, though, recognizes that Allen's simply trying to pretend Haynesworth has some value to the Redskins in case a team wants to trade for him. |
